I'm not sure how to do this because I added a js function to run on a form's submit button's click event. The js function does run, but then no matter what, the php script is called. The alert runs, then it goes to the php script. How can I stop it doing it?
here is js function:
Code JavaScript: function checkFields(form){ var myForm= document.getElementById(form) if(myForm!="li-comment-form"){

I am trying to make a link dead until all fields are valid. Once they are validated and match the regex, the link should take you to its destination.
[Code]...
As of now, you can click the link and a lightbox will show up displaying verify.php no matter what the case; even if the fields are considered invalid values by regex. I want the link button (#various2) to be dead until all text fields match the regex assigned to them.
ALSO, for some weird reason, my link has to be pressed twice until it is able to recognize the urlstring in the js. So....when the viewer comes to my site, they will press the link once (nothing happens) and have to press it again for it to work.
the validator plugin for jquery is really cool, but i need the possibility to also mark a field as valid (not only disappear the invalid message), a simple "is valid" label would be sufficient..i tried to change the sources, but that seems rather complicated
Here's what I have so far in my validation part However, I need help as to how to validate the following fields when the user clicks the submit button.
There can be any number of 'groups' but I would want to apply some validation for each item in a group. I can only see that the validation is done by specifying a id? however as the id's are going to be dynamically created how can I do this? can you validate for a css class?
So I have a new window document write which outputs all my data after validation into a new window, I have tried to write a button which will (when clicked) send that information to an email address. here is my code so far. i spent about 2 hours checking and playing around looking for errors couldnt find any. I think the problem is the function EmailForm and function subwrite. Is a button written into a new window a common thing to do? or is there another simpler way, however i want the user to be able to check to see if there data is valid and then click to send the email.

I am validating my form fields using jquery validate plugin. but itsnot executing my methods. its hitting my validate() method but notactual validation code.I am pasting my code here for your reference.My javascript code:
mysite.validateFormFields = function() { alert('here'); [color=green] [b]// its hitting here [/b][/color]
im using Jquery.validate, and I have a particular issue, jquery plugin is validating fields which didn't have rules. this is my code. Im attaching my code.Display name, First and Last name works fine. The wrong behavior is when I change DDL values and Do click elsewhere in the page, the minlenght validation activates for the dropdown lists.
(validating fields) with reg expression for these currency/price values:
1. 100,000 ,0, 1,000 , 1,000,000 (should only have commas , no decimals) imean for all number formats 2. 1,000,000+ , 100,000+ , 0+ but not '100+00,' (for all number formats with + sign after that)
I am trying to throw in some client-side validation to my php web form. My problem is that only one field is actually getting validated. Here is the code:
Form: onSubmit="return checkForm(this);"
script: function checkForm(form) { var firstname = document.getElementById("wpFirstName").value; var lastname = document.getElementById("wpLastName").value;
The if statement evaluating the last name field is the only statement that evaluates to true. It seems the first statment is bypassed. Any ideas? PS. the element with the id lastNameError/firstNameError is in a div tag.
I would like to know how to create a function in an external file for validating the fields of a form. If someone could please provide the code, it'll be real helpful. The form is as follows:
I have some fields that require no validation and some that require it. The valid css I made in green color. Now when I click on submit the validated fields show green and the non requested are left yellow that I use. Is there a way to somehow on submit make all the fields to have valid class?
I have a page here [URL] I can add the rows now dynmically. My problem when submit I want the locations to be selected and the location cant be same. I have put this <select class='required' but is not workning either too. Secondly I want to make sure the dwell time column is fields in hour:minute format.
I have two prompt dialogue boxes that ask the user the enter their name and their employee number.I am experiencing two errors. The first is, if a user enters their name incorrectly, using numbers for example, there is an error message that asks the user to re-enter their name using a string. If the user ignores the error message and enters a number a second time, the program accepts the entry, which it shouldn't.
The second error has to do with the employee number prompt. The prompt asks the user to enter an employee number that is equal to 6 digits, the program however accepts any number, less than or greater than 6 digits, which it shouldn't.I don't want the user to get away with entering anything incorrectly.
<script type="text/javascript"> // prompt the employer the enter the employee name and number var employName = prompt ("Please enter the employees' name" , " ");[code].....
I am using a validating form plug in for jquery and I have a question about it. Let this function will be an ex.:

'e' is the name attribute of one form element, but can I choose more elements using jquery (CSS) rules like this: input[name*=e] or how can I do something similar?
i have a script which i found on the internet. i modify that script according to my needs. what is in that script is there are three form fields with two buttons. one button is "Give me more fields" clicking on this button will give you more fields. and second button is submit so the data goes to server side and will be added to db. the problem is when i click give me more fields it gives me three more fields which is right but when i fill all these fields and click submit button it adds to the db but the data in the first three fields adds in the one row and the other three fields data adds in separate row which is not fine for me. so how can i do this so all the data will be added to only one row.
here is js code
Code:
var counter = 0; //Start a counter. Yes, at 0 function add_phone() { counter++;
I created a dialog which has 3 text fields. I added a datepicker to one of them. On submit I'm trying to post the data in the fields to a web service.The first time you fire up the dialog, I'm running into two problems. One, the values I'm getting from the fields are all emtpy. Two, the datepicker doesn't actually populate the field it's attached to. The 2nd time, they all work fine.This is part of the $(document).ready handler:
I'm using jQuery validation on a form and I can't get it to only validate optional fields if the user enters something (should recognize the difference between this and the default value of the field, for text input fields). I know this is built in (I think) but I must be doing something wrong.
For example, phone number is optional but I want it to validate if the user enters something. Code for the phone in the JS file is:
When I just put "phone" as the class it validates the field even if it is not edited by the user at all. For the required fields I put "required" as the class to validate them but I just read in another post that this is not necessary with the plugin...? I guess I am not sure whether the field should be define as optional by a class or in the JS file, and if it's the latter, how to do that.
How can I use JQuery to, when clicking a row of data in a table, take that row (consisting of three columns) and populate three different input fields with it?
I have here a code that will automatically generate two text fields (Title & Price) when "Add another article" is pressed. I got this from the web, but I want instead of using a text field, I want it to create a drop down menu based on a mysql table, then update the price automatically (also based on the mysql table) on the other text field once a selection has been made on the drop down menu.
'm trying to put together some code within a form that tests whether someone has supplied an email address or a telephone number when the Submit button is pressed. Neither of these fields are require mandatory input.Trouble is my current code always supplies a true result even if no data is put in these fields i.e. the 1st IF statement returns true. What am I doing wrong?Here's my code. _____ <script type="text/javascript"> function check_id() { if (document.feedback.email !="" || document.feedback.tel !="") {[code].........
