JQuery :: Dynamic Loading - Create Portlets That Dynamically Load Their Content
May 29, 2009I am trying to create portlets that dynamically load their content (usinq jQuery). My first approach was to leave the header + footer + decorations of the portlet OUTSIDE of the dynamically loadable content. It worked just fine but I had to abandon that approach so that I could use the same code both for statically- and dynamically-loaded content (e.g. when no AJAX support was available). So far so good.
Now to my problem: I use the following code for loading my dynamic content
The loading works fine, but after the dynamic content has been loaded I can not seem to get access to it using jQuery!
Short description: Line 3 clears the content (I know! There are better solutions!) Line 4 loads the content Line 6 dumps the data on the console; this is for debuging only, so that I can establish that the correct content is loaded
After the data is properly loaded I did expect to be able to find it by traversing the DOM tree in traditional jQuery fashion (like in Line 10). However, dumping the contents of the 'tag' shows it containing no content at all; it is empty even though the browser renders the expected new result. I thought: Well! The browser holds two copies of the DOM tree; one that is the original page and one that is the modified content used for rendering". Therefore I attempted to manipulate the loaded content within the function (Line 8). The content is visible there, that I have established in Line 6. But I do not know how to access it jQuery-style.
(Why am I trying to modify the loaded content? I want to inject a title row with various decorations and clickable content.)

Aug 3, 2010I'm trying to load dynamically some content and I'd like to fire a function when all the newly added content (including images, iframes and scripts in it) are loaded:

According tohttp:[url]....(at least how I understand it) this should work: Theloadevent is sent to an element when it and all sub-elements have been completely loaded. This event can be sent to any element associated with a URL,images, scripts, frames, iframes, and the windowobject.Unfortunatelly my function is never called. For the meantime I found a workaround:

Dynamically Load Content
Jul 26, 2007I have seen many sites that have content that it tabbed, and when you click different tabs, the content changes without the page reloading. I would like to do this, but I DON'T want to have the content loaded but hidden, and then reveal the content when you click a different tab. For us that would be too large of a page to load with the hidden content.
So, is there a way to load that content in a div on the fly when a specific tab or link is clicked?

To test I created this code, the image loads fine and the mouseover works fine showing the alert dialog :
However, my trouble seems to be that if I bind mouseover to the class "myimage" nothing happens, like so :
Seems that the document would load the html first then the mouseover bound to the class (myimage) would fire off.

Apr 11, 2010I have a page with links that use jQuery to load individual pages of content into a main content area. On one of these pages, I want to be able to link to a specific anchor. (ie, when you click the link named "exec" on the main page, it loads the "services" page and then scrolls to the "exec" div.

Everything works beautifully in FF and Opera but in IE, I get an error message saying "top is null or not an object". It's referencing the line where "target_offset.top" is called, but this is legitimate syntax, so I don't understand the problem.

JQuery :: Reload Content In A Div That Is Generated Dynamically?
Oct 22, 2010I have a jsp file that is used to display data from Java objects running on my server. I'm using JQuery for tabs and to handle the ajax calls to a servlet that affects the Java server I have running.Each tab represents a service, and has a corresponding java object on the server side. These are generated from the spring configuration, and is working fine. The page is used to control some aspects of the service, and I have a few buttons that can be clicked. I'm trying to get it so that when a button is pressed, the appropriate Java function is called on the service's object (this happens using ajax) and then refresh the current tab.
My js code is like this:

Right now, I'm using the window.location.reload(true) to refresh the whole page but I'd like to just redo the div for the tab that contains the button that has been clicked.I have tried:

instead of the window.location calls above, but that puts the whole page into the tab.

I am using Giva Labs' jNotify plugin [URL].I have a main page that dynamically loads content in a container.
I load jquery, and jnotify in the main page. When I call jnotify from thedynamicallyloaded content, I get an error that jnotify is not a valid method. If I include the <script> call for jnotify in the dynamically called content, it works. This does not seem like the best practice.
Is there a way to re-initialize jnotify afterloadingdynamiccontent?
JQuery :: Linking Directly To Dynamically Loaded Content
Jan 20, 2010I have a site that shows off video clips. When a clip is 'clicked' the video and related data is loaded in using jQuery. The page does not refresh. I now need to link directly to different 'videos', but am unable to because a click hasn't taken place to load the video in. It just loads the categories page. What would be the best way to allow me to link directly to the video... ? Will I need to edit my .htacess file? Will I need to somehow work out what clip they are trying to get, and 'fake' a click to impose the video/data on the page?

Jun 30, 2010So here is my problem...I've been banging my head against the wall for days with this one.How do you send data through the URL to be handled by a script in page.html, where page.html processes the data and dynamically displays the data in a modal. I can get the script to execute without trying to display in a modal, but as soon as I attempt to display in a modal, all I get is the static HTML without the jquery dynamic html.I know some code should be given, but if anyone could just walk me through the logic of why static html might be shown but not the dynamic, I think i can figure it out.

Mar 16, 2011I am using the load() method to load navigation sections of hidden copy, which I will later grab and display. After the hidden copy loads, I am grabbing selected divs, and bringing them into an area where the copy will be displayed. My problem is that after I load the new copy, replacing the old copy, and I go to retrieve it, it gives me the old copy still (eventhough firebug shows me that the load() actually did bring in and replace the copy...so it's grabbing and displaying copy not even in the file anymore!) My question is whether it is possible to get the accordion loaded first and then load the content only after that. This is so that we will not see the raw content first before it got put into the accordion.
