JQuery :: .load(callback) Event Is Not Fired On Dynamically Loaded Content?
Aug 3, 2010
I'm trying to load dynamically some content and I'd like to fire a function when all the newly added content (including images, iframes and scripts in it) are loaded:
var htmlStr='html string including images, iframes and scripts';
$("#contents").html(htmlStr).load(function(){
alert("all images, scripts and iframes are fully loaded, you can continue");
})
According tohttp:[url]....(at least how I understand it) this should work: Theloadevent is sent to an element when it and all sub-elements have been completely loaded. This event can be sent to any element associated with a URL,images, scripts, frames, iframes, and the windowobject.Unfortunatelly my function is never called. For the meantime I found a workaround:
var html=$('html string including images, iframes and scripts');
var elements=html.find("img,script,iframe,frame");
var loadCounter = elemets.length;[code]....

I have a page with a form, that represent questions and the corresponding answers.I defined the minimum questions, answers, and their maximum.So I added a link in the form to add question (along with the minimum amount of answers), and a link per question to add an answer in it.the "click" event for my links is like:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".addquestion").click(function(event){...});
$(".addanswer").click(function(event){alert("addanswer");...});
});
the code look more like JS, but basically it.adds the html code in the corresponding divs.The problem is the following: if I add a question, it also add a link to add answers to this question, but this link does not fire the event.Did I miss something to add to make it work?I mean the link in html page is exactly the same, I even tried not
changing the part with the int, it still doesn't work.

I have a question about load(). I created a php script that simply returns <img src="something.jpg" class="myimage">
To test I created this code, the image loads fine and the mouseover works fine showing the alert dialog :
However, my trouble seems to be that if I bind mouseover to the class "myimage" nothing happens, like so :
Seems that the document would load the html first then the mouseover bound to the class (myimage) would fire off.

I have setup a little example here: [URL] It is JSONP because of cross site policy. The returned JSON is valid, you can check the response in firebug. The callback function is not fired.
Tested with jquery 1.3.2, 1.4.2 and 1.4.4. Same result.

My alert dialog never apears.

I have seen similar problems in the forum, but none that match this issue exactly.
I am using Giva Labs' jNotify plugin [URL].I have a main page that dynamically loads content in a container.
I load jquery, and jnotify in the main page. When I call jnotify from thedynamicallyloaded content, I get an error that jnotify is not a valid method. If I include the <script> call for jnotify in the dynamically called content, it works. This does not seem like the best practice.
Is there a way to re-initialize jnotify afterloadingdynamiccontent?

I have a site that shows off video clips. When a clip is 'clicked' the video and related data is loaded in using jQuery. The page does not refresh. I now need to link directly to different 'videos', but am unable to because a click hasn't taken place to load the video in. It just loads the categories page. What would be the best way to allow me to link directly to the video... ? Will I need to edit my .htacess file? Will I need to somehow work out what clip they are trying to get, and 'fake' a click to impose the video/data on the page?

I've been banging my head against this extremely frustrating bug but I finally managed to get an isolated test case. Call .animate() on two different elements one after the other and give the second one a "complete" callback. In the callback function call .stop() on the first element, the one with no callback.
The callback function should only fire once (when the second element's animation completes) but instead it fires twice. It only occurs when the animations are started in that order and stop() is called inside the callback.[URL]...

I have a page (index.php) with a pictures carousel that works with css and jquery. I want to loaded a new carousel into a <div> after the page is loaded using the $('#mydiv').load('myscript.php') function that calls a php script returning the html code for the carousel, containing a list of images.So I have a <ul> of pictures that doesn't work as a carousel without the CSS and jquery code that has been loaded on the page when my index.php loaded on the first place.So, since the page has already been loaded the carousel doesn't work properly.It seems like the jquery code for the carousel to work, should execute every time I load a new list of images with the load() function.

which works once the page hasn't been loaded using.load $(".toggle_cat_container").hide(); How do I adapt it to work when the page is loaded with .load? I am familiar with needing to use .live on click functions.
i.e.
$("a[id^='mydiv']").click(function(e) {
needing to be changed to:
$("a[id^='mydiv]").live('click', function(e) {
My problem is that $(".toggle_cat_container").hide(); would trigger when the document was ready but when its loaded it won't trigger. What adaptation do I need? I suspect something similar to the below - just not getting it right $(".toggle_cat_container").live('onLoad', function(e) {

I am wondering how to select a div on a page that is loaded using the .load() function.I have tried using a function in the callback of the page to select elements but this didn't work.It appears the pages are called after a the document has loaded (which makes sense) thus anything I place on the page that is loading the various data into the the content div can't selected the newly loaded content.I could include the new script on the pages I am loading but this would result in the undesirable editing every page I have made.

When I load my page I am using the .load() function to load a section of HTML from another .html file into the current page, as follows:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#login_js').load('_HTMLCodeLibrary.html #loginform');
On the very next line I am attempting to bind a submit event handler to the form:
$('#loginform').submit(function() {
$.post('member.php', $(this).serialize(), function(data, status) {
data = eval('(' + data + ')');
if (data.msg) {
[Code].....
The form is loading fine, but for some reason the submit() is not getting attached to the form. Therefore when I submit it is running member.php from the form "action". Ultimately, I want to be able to run member.php from $.post() so that I can tell member.php that JavaScript is enabled.

I'm building a tree control that lazily loads branches of the tree
using the document.load() method.
The external XML document that is loaded is generated by a servlet as
XHTML. What I would like to do is to add the new tree branch to the
correct place in the document in the browser window using the innerHTML
property of the parent node.
The relevant code snippet that I've written to do this is:
var target = document.getElementById(parentId);
target.innerHTML = xmlDoc.documentElement.xml;
This doesn't work, furthermore looking at the W3C DOM API it would seem
that the document.xml property is a Microsort proprietary extension
which makes it unsuitable for my application.

I'm running into a little bit of a problem with tinyMCE. My textarea is not loaded with the initial first page load but dynamically inserted in the DOM via ajax, so it doesn't display.
I've studied the documentation that comes with tinyMCE and it still kinda puzzles me what I have to do to "dynamically load" tinyMCE.

I am trying to create portlets that dynamically load their content (usinq jQuery). My first approach was to leave the header + footer + decorations of the portlet OUTSIDE of the dynamically loadable content. It worked just fine but I had to abandon that approach so that I could use the same code both for statically- and dynamically-loaded content (e.g. when no AJAX support was available). So far so good.
Now to my problem: I use the following code for loading my dynamic content
The loading works fine, but after the dynamic content has been loaded I can not seem to get access to it using jQuery!
Short description: Line 3 clears the content (I know! There are better solutions!) Line 4 loads the content Line 6 dumps the data on the console; this is for debuging only, so that I can establish that the correct content is loaded
After the data is properly loaded I did expect to be able to find it by traversing the DOM tree in traditional jQuery fashion (like in Line 10). However, dumping the contents of the 'tag' shows it containing no content at all; it is empty even though the browser renders the expected new result. I thought: Well! The browser holds two copies of the DOM tree; one that is the original page and one that is the modified content used for rendering". Therefore I attempted to manipulate the loaded content within the function (Line 8). The content is visible there, that I have established in Line 6. But I do not know how to access it jQuery-style.
(Why am I trying to modify the loaded content? I want to inject a title row with various decorations and clickable content.)

I have a script that is being inserted dynamically via anotherscript. The code in that script is wrapped inside the $(window).load() event because it requires the images on the page to have allloaded. In some browsers it works fine, but in others it seems not tofire because the page has already finished loading by the time thecode is run.Is there any way to check and see if the page has already finishedloading?Since it is a dynamically inserted script I don't have access to theonload event of the original document (aside from altering it via theloaded script - but that would seem to present the same problem).

I have seen many sites that have content that it tabbed, and when you click different tabs, the content changes without the page reloading. I would like to do this, but I DON'T want to have the content loaded but hidden, and then reveal the content when you click a different tab. For us that would be too large of a page to load with the hidden content.
So, is there a way to load that content in a div on the fly when a specific tab or link is clicked?

I have a textarea and a DIV as code below. The way it supposes to work is when I focus on the textarea by clicking it, the DIV will show. Otherwise, it will be hidden. Then when I click the DIV, there will be an alert(). However, right now if I click on the DIV, it will trigger the blur() event first which calls to hide() the DIV. After that, the click event is not called at all. I need to be able to click on the DIV and the DIV is not hide() at all and show alert().

In jQuery, how to select a parent element to a child if I attached a click event on the parent but also want a click event on a child within.
Let's say I have a the following code :
HTML Code:
There may be several of those classes in the page. I then use jQuery to replace the inner HTML to the clickclass div when clicked on with some other code and a input button (with an ID of, let's say 'save_button').
This works fine for that part:
HTML Code:
I then want to have the button clickable so that I can replace again the HTML in the div (like a save button). But if I try a separate event listener on the input button, it also fires the parent event. Even if I return false on the child event or use event.stopImmediatePropagation() in the .click child function.
I've managed to almost get it with the following code :
HTML Code:
If the event is triggerd form 'clickclass', then replace with HTML + input button
The problem is that whenever I try using .parent() with jQuery, it always tells me that parent() is not a function. I've tried various other ways of getting the parent object (the clickclass div) but can't get it to work.
