JQuery :: "Dynamically Loading" TinyMCE - Textarea Is Not Loaded With The Initial First Page Load
Oct 12, 2010
I'm running into a little bit of a problem with tinyMCE. My textarea is not loaded with the initial first page load but dynamically inserted in the DOM via ajax, so it doesn't display.
I've studied the documentation that comes with tinyMCE and it still kinda puzzles me what I have to do to "dynamically load" tinyMCE.

I have a scripts which filters a list of data based on a users selection from dropdowns in a form. The script updates a counter while the user is making the selections and also colates a url string which I then use to query a php db when the user clicks view results.
I also have a reset button in the form so the user can quickly go back to the start. When this is clicked it does reset all the dropdowns and inputs to their defualt values but it doesn't reset my js functions back to their initial states.
Can anyone tell me how I can do this? Is there a js reset function I can use?

I've almost finished employing the jQuery Accordian and Tabs UI functions on a website, but still have one remaining problem.I have a page using the UI tabs. When the page first loads the content of all the tabs flashes for a second or two and then the selected tab is displayed. After that the tabs work great with smooth transitions as expected.
The tabs on page load are filled with php include calls. Then I use ajax to refill the tabs base upon the users selections. That works fine without the load flashing of all tab contents. I did try switching all the php includes to jQuery ajax. The resulting page had the same problem with the content of all tabs flashing before the selected tab displayed.Here's some of my code:In the head:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#tabs").tabs({ fx: { opacity: 'toggle', selected: 0}});[code]....
Is my code the problem or is there something I'm leaving out that would hide the copy of the tabs loading until the document is ready and selects the first tab (index 0)?

I'm using a function like this to load divs dynamically (and hide
current one..)
function get_img(curr_img,curr_nav,new_img,new_nav2) {
var img_top = eval('document.getElementById(' + "curr_img" + ')');
var img_new = eval('document.getElementById(' + "new_img" + ')');
var nav_top = eval('document.getElementById(' + "curr_nav" + ')');
var nav_new = eval('document.getElementById(' + "new_nav" + ')');
img_top.style.visibility = "hidden";
img_new.style.visibility = "visible";
nav_top.style.visibility = "hidden";
nav_new.style.visibility = "visible";
curr_img = new_img;
curr_nav = new_nav;
}
problem I always run into in situations like this is I can't tell which
one is currently loaded.. how do you detect which div is currently loaded?
this is in JSP, divs generated with loops...
for (int i = 0; i < photos.length; i++) {
%>
<div id="nav<%=photos[i]%>">
etc...

I'm trying to load dynamically some content and I'd like to fire a function when all the newly added content (including images, iframes and scripts in it) are loaded:
var htmlStr='html string including images, iframes and scripts';
$("#contents").html(htmlStr).load(function(){
alert("all images, scripts and iframes are fully loaded, you can continue");
})
According tohttp:[url]....(at least how I understand it) this should work: Theloadevent is sent to an element when it and all sub-elements have been completely loaded. This event can be sent to any element associated with a URL,images, scripts, frames, iframes, and the windowobject.Unfortunatelly my function is never called. For the meantime I found a workaround:
var html=$('html string including images, iframes and scripts');
var elements=html.find("img,script,iframe,frame");
var loadCounter = elemets.length;[code]....

I am trying to hide tables when a page initially loads and only display them when a button is pressed. When the page loads the tables show and I need then to be hidden. What am I doing wrong? I am new to this.
Here is the code that I have so far.
<Script = text/javascript>
function show_hide(tblid, show) {
if (tbl = document.getElementById(tblid)) {
if (null == show) show = tbl.style.display == 'none';
tbl.style.display = (show ? '' : 'none');

I have Validation working across a form (I fire it several times before Submit to check sections of the form), and a tinyMCE editor working in 1 textarea.I want to move the contents of the tinyMCE iframe into the textarea before (that's the key here - before) the Submit button is pressed so that the contents can be validated in the section before Submit. I've used tinyMCE.triggerSave(); in several ways to move contents and then fire Validation before Submit. None work. I am beginning to believe that tinyMCE contents cannot be moved by any Javascript other than Submit, but I don't see that stated anywhere. In tinyMCE, I've tried onchange_callback: and handle_node_ change_callback: to fire functions with triggerSave and other saving commands. I can get the contents of tinyMCE to validate when I press Submit twice (others have noted this peculiarity), but not in any other way. Also, when errors are corrected in tinyMCE, Validation does not revalidate until Submit is pressed.
2 questions - how to move tinyMCE contents into the textarea without hitting Submit? Does CKEditor allow updates other than via Submit, and if so, where's a tutorial or example? Here's an example of code that is supposed to be triggered by tinyMCE's onchange_callback, but only triggers upon the second click on Submit.
function tinyMCESetValue(inst)
{
var content = tinyMCE.activeEditor.getContent();[code].....

I am trying to create portlets that dynamically load their content (usinq jQuery). My first approach was to leave the header + footer + decorations of the portlet OUTSIDE of the dynamically loadable content. It worked just fine but I had to abandon that approach so that I could use the same code both for statically- and dynamically-loaded content (e.g. when no AJAX support was available). So far so good.
Now to my problem: I use the following code for loading my dynamic content
The loading works fine, but after the dynamic content has been loaded I can not seem to get access to it using jQuery!
Short description: Line 3 clears the content (I know! There are better solutions!) Line 4 loads the content Line 6 dumps the data on the console; this is for debuging only, so that I can establish that the correct content is loaded
After the data is properly loaded I did expect to be able to find it by traversing the DOM tree in traditional jQuery fashion (like in Line 10). However, dumping the contents of the 'tag' shows it containing no content at all; it is empty even though the browser renders the expected new result. I thought: Well! The browser holds two copies of the DOM tree; one that is the original page and one that is the modified content used for rendering". Therefore I attempted to manipulate the loaded content within the function (Line 8). The content is visible there, that I have established in Line 6. But I do not know how to access it jQuery-style.
(Why am I trying to modify the loaded content? I want to inject a title row with various decorations and clickable content.)

In a form created with TinyMCE, I cannot find the main textarea in the source code. I tried Google Chrome's Inspect Element feature, and I got the attached results. It seems that an iframe was created with Javascript. However, there are no textareas in that iframe either.
The page is here: [URL]. However, a username/password is needed to view the page.

I am trying to insert the following call into my page;
[Code]...
It works fine in all browsers except ie(6,7,8) Internet Explorer can not open website. Operation Aborted. I understand it is caused by the jquery autocomplete function loading before the page / DOM has fully loaded. I tried adding Defer="true" to the script however this doesn't seem to work.

$("#MyButton").click(function (){ $('#CurrentPageInputTextArea').load('jqloadFrom.htm #OtherPageInputTextArea');
});

OK, I am very new to jQuery so bare with me here. I am trying to get the document body height and set it as the height of a table, after the page has been loaded. Below is an example of what I am trying to do.
[Code]...
I am not sure where to place the jQuery code, before or after the table tag...and I am not even sure if any of my jQuery code is correct. Once again, i need to set the table height AFTER the document has been loaded and then dynamically change the height of the table.

We have a page that allows a user to load a form over ajax using jQuery 1.3.2. The form contains a simple table layout, some input boxes, tinymce and the initialize for a jQueryUI dialog. On first load everything works fine. If the user loads the same form again, without refreshing the browser window, TinyMCE no longer shows content, can’t be clicked inside of and the dialog no longer updates it’s content and a few other bits of js stop firing.
Now I thought this was an issue with the page and ajax, but we have another page that uses draggable elements and has a very simple form of 1 input and a submit. If you submit the form and get returned the same page by our validation the same thing happens as with tinymce, you can no longer click inside it.
In ie7 things dont stop responding so much but the browser slows down and almost stops responding.

I am pretty new to jQuery and my programming skills are almost non-existent.
But I was wondering; is it possible to create something which will load a page (or php include) when the website has been fully loaded with a loading bar?
The reason why I want this, is cause I am building a website and it will have a ping (to severs) script, but it takes a "long" time to load (depending on the servers that are being pinged). So it can take anywhere from 2 or 3 seconds to 10 seconds (or even more). So it would be nice that first the website would be loaded completely and when that's done, it should load the ping script and show that it's loading with a loading bar.
Is this possible and easy to do?

index.html
When the index.html page loads up, the page01.html loads into #mainview. And when I try to click on the <div id="clickme">Click Me!</div> inside page01.html to load page02.html, nothing works. Just can't figure out what's wrong...

I am using this to load the client JavaScript for a web application
when it is selected by the user) via an Ajax connection to the server.
I have found only two ways of loading new JavaScript after the web page
is loaded.
1. Create a new script element (where head is the id of the head tag):
var s = document.createElement('script');
s.setAttribute('type','text/javascript');
s.setAttribute('src', 'scripts/myscript.js');
s.setAttribute('defer', false);
document.getElementById('head').appendChild(s);
2. eval() of a string sent from the server via XmlHttpRequest.
The first method does not work with Apple Macintosh Safari. There is an
article on the apple support website
http://lists.apple.com/archives/Web...r/msg00024.html
Does anyone know of any other methods that are cross-browser?
I already know about the IFrame workaround, but I have not been able to
determine if that is really portable and practical. Does anybody have
experience with this?

On my webpage, I dynamically create an iFrame when a button is pressed, then load a html page from within my own domain into the iframe, based on what html page is loaded into a variable. My question is, can I dynamically change the font family of the loaded html page from the javascript of the main page? My code to create the iframe is:
function setSubTxt(){
var par = document.getElementById('parentDiv');
par.innerHTML = '<iframe src="'+subTxt+'" style="width: 375px; position: fixed; height: 365px; left: 400px; top: 145px; border=none;" name="subIframe" frameBorder=0></iframe>';
frames['subIframe'].window.location=subTxt;
document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial";
[Code]....
the variable "subTxt" has the url of the html page to be loaded (always on the same domain). The code: document.subIframe.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Arial"; was my attempt to dynamically change the font, but it didn't work. Also, it should be noted that there is no font family set in the html pages which would override this.

Simple question. How can I disable a textarea when a page is loaded(and re-enable it on a button click). I have tried several things with no luck. What I have tried is at the bottom. Here is mycode snippets:
Code to generate the text area
<%=Html.TextAreaFor(Function(model) model.NewestComment.Comment, 2, 60, New With {.id = "comment"})%>
JQuery Code I have tried to disable it....
<script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() {
$(
"NewestComment.Comment").attr("disabled", "disabled");
I also tried....
$(
"comment").attr("disabled", "disabled"); Neither of which worked.

I'm trying to add dynamically generated HTML after the page has loaded. I've tried two versions.The latest versions is this, using insertBefore (as appendChild is buggy in a few browsers according to the SitePoint reference) ...
Code:
addImageField: function(x) {
var newNode = createImageField(x);
var src = document.getElementById("imageUploads");
[code]...
The first alert returns: object HTMLFieldsetElement .The second alert returns: object HTMLDivElement....and the third alert fails to fire, indicating a problem with the code above.Note that if I change the problem line to remove the null reference it still doesn't work (again the third alert won't fire):
Code:
scr.parentNode.insertBefore(newNode,src);
