JQuery :: List Elements, Swap, Changing Positions?

in a list, as seen below, i would like to first of all change the order only by clicking a button.e.g. li_elem2 and li_elem3 should change their order (positions), maybe even in a nice animated way later on...i tried to change it by editing the css properties, but didn't work out. so now i would be happy about any other approach i can take to swap items, or change positions of two list items....

I'm attempting to make it so it physically swaps the element position within DOM (the index, in other words) when someone clicks on a button. It will either be the element right before, or right after (depending on which button they click). I'm using jQuery, so if there is an easy way to do it using that, please let me know. If not, I can use jQuery to get the DOM elements using .get(). I don't know if I can just just do something like:

domElements[index + 1] = domElements[index].cloneNode(true);
domElements[index] = tempElement;
It doesn't seem to work quite right. Should I use replaceChild or something? Don't know if it would work, here? I will know the index, so that's not an issue, here, it's just a matter of getting it to reorder the elements, so when I loop through them, they are processed in the correct order.

I have a webpage which the user can drag a marker around inside a div and the script then shows the standard js alert box with the final positions of the marker once the user has stopped dragging it about. What I am trying to do is fairly simple, depending on what option you select in the menu I want the picture to change to different picture. The code that I posted below works perfectly except for one problem. I need the option value to display the color name, and not have the image code in it. I have researched ways to do this without having to use "value" but I just can't find one that works.

I'm trying to allow users to add the text from a text input into a list, and then have the option of removing this list item. So far I have the code below which allows me to add a styled list item with a link in it which I would like to close the box when clicked but at the moment when I click it nothing is happening. I'm putting together an events calendar athttp:[URL].. Each event is a li item, and I use jQuery to assign the class "no-left-m" (no left margin) to li:nth-child(3n+1) for CSS layout purposes. I've also added the ability to show only events in certain categories. Unfortunately, the initial jQuery assigns the classes to li items from the DOM, and doesn't take into account the show/hide. This means that when I show only a single category, the margins are off.

Let's say I have two lists for menus and one list for sortable content.
If I click on "A" in the #type list, the content list is sorted, the li's with the classes "B" and "D" are hidden by attaching a class of .hidden to display:none. In turn becoming:
My question is, how do I apply the new content results to the #location menu? If "B" and "D" are hidden then numbers "3" and "4" shouldn't be displayed. I'm having trouble getting the two to talk to each other. I've tried .is(':visible"), .each(), etc. and can't quite crack it.

I'm trying to create a list that contains items which are filters for a search. The list shows 10 items (max) on the page load. if there are more than 10 it changes the class of the elements > 10 so they are hidden, and a 'show more' link is appended. Now if the user has 'unhidden' the previously hidden items and then chooses one, I want the class for all those previously hidden items to change until the user has deselected that item.

Is there a better, smaller way to write this? It works for what i need currently, but there are future features im planning that will not be practical checkingindividualindexes the way i've done it.

I am looking for a way to add an id attribute to a div element I append to my document so that i can find the id later and delete it. So far, no luck with jquery .each loop trying to assign unique value and add incrementing value to each of them. In my code, they all seem to have the same id and when I click again it just appends the same value again to all of them.

i have been tryin for a long time to get both of the javascripts(for the thumbnail to main img swap and the navigational arrow swap) to work in synchit needs to be so that after clicking on a thumbnail then on an arrow, the correct image in the correct order appears. as of now they are running separately and one has no influence on the other. forgive me if im not being clear. i keep trying to replace the id that one script is looking for with the same id from the other but this will not work..why?

I am doing a form for my site and would like to enable and disable a radio
button set depending on whether one of the choices on an outer radio button
set is checked. How can I refer to all the inputs of the inner radio button
set (they all share a common name) with javascript. I tried
document.getElementsByNames('thename') but it doesn't work. I know this is
because this method returns an array which you must then refer to by a
specific index number, unless there is another way. I would like to refer to
all of them at once and then set their disabled status to false.

I'm developing a chess game recorder (records chess games just like electronic score sheet) and i am trying to write a function that handles the "en passent" rule in chess. However, when i try to test to see if a Black pawn is at a particular x,y location, it is always giving me back "50px". I have a javascript or CSS problem with two tables with same positions. The two tables has the same structure and positon in page.I want to view the odd lines from a table and the even lines from the oher table. What I have do is the following :

I have 4 checkboxes in my form and wanna change the number (to be displayed) according to the selection made on the ListBox Menu
