JQuery :: Get An Element From A List Of Hidden Elements?
Jun 14, 2010
How do I get the elements from a form when these elements are named like each other? I'd like to make a list of values and store it in few hidden elements. It is suppose to work like a list of checkbox whose elements have the same name (and same id), but they are diferent indexed. [code]...

i am working on a custom drop down list that has hidden #options DIV which is shown when the user clicks on a button. the problem i am having is that the click event does not seem to be attached to the LI elements since they are hidden when the page first loads. if i show the #options DIV when the page loads everything is working as expected.i've tried to attach the click event after i show the hidden UL but that didn't work either.what can i do to make sure the LI click event fires? i tried to put A tag inside of LI and attach click to that but to no avail.

I have some sortable lists.
I need to be able to drag an element from on list to another but leave the original element in its list and have a copy in the new list.
I tried this;
But it treats el and elcone as the same element.

Specifically, assume I have a div tag of absolute dimensions. I need
to figure out, first, whether or not the text inside the div tag is
partially hidden by the overflow setting, and if so, what the hidden
text is.
Is this even possible? Obviously, the rendering engine in the browser
"knows" this information, but is it accessible through Javascript?

I'm working on a project that requires dynamic manipulation of an ordered list -- adding and removing elements in response to the user pressing buttons. I've run in to some odd behavior. Here's my code:
HTML
<ol id="track-list">
<li>Static Content Here</li>
</ol>
<input type="button" id="add-track" value="Add Track" />
jQuery:
$("#add-track").click(function(){
var listEl = $("<li>Dynamic Content Here</li>");
listEl.hide();
[code]....
Looks pretty straightforward, problem is when I add the new list element it does not prepend it with any number (being part of an ordered list). Now if I remove the hide and fadeIn lines (just append it), it inserts it correctly with a number before it, but I want this to look pretty being jQuery and all...

I have also posted this question on StackOverflow which you can see here. This first issue I had to solve was using jQuery in an ASPP.Net app with Master Content pages - that issue is resolved. The main issue is that I have a content page that has many divs on it - 3 of which are hidden when the page first loads and are then each displayed based on various user interaction wth the page. One of the divs is displayed by server side code for many reasons dvDetail.style("displaya') = "block". My issue is that I need to use jQuery on an element that is located inside this div and can't seem to get that to work. The jQuery works just fine on anything that is not inside the hidden div. Items to note: Hiding and displaying the hidden divs works just fine. I am not using the visible property on any div - I use the display = "block" and 'none' in both the client side code and the server side code. jQuery working just fine on the page - just not on elements inside the hidden div. jQuery selectors working just fine in the content page scenario just not in the hidden div.

i have got about 50 definition lists on one html-page witch all look linke this:
<dl>
<dt class="title">aaa</dt>
<dd class="subtitle">bbb</dd>
<dd class="city">ccc</dd>
<dd class="email">ddd</dd>
<dd class="website">eee</dd>
<dd class="description">fff</dd>
</dl>
if the dt-element in one of the definition lists has a specific css-property (e.g. length > 100px) then the dd-element with the css-class "subtitle" in the same definition list should be removed.

I have a page where I have images that may have visibility 'hidden' or 'visible'.
So how do I ensure I animate (and other 'manipulations') only visible images when mouseover them and not the hidden image?
Must mention I want to do this without any use of css classes or other non-jquery made css.

I am trying to make a carousel of sorts. I am kind of stuck with hiding and displaying the next and precious buttons once a div moves to the far left and right of its container. I think i have everything correct regarding calculating the widths but for some reason when you click the buttons, elements stay hidden irrespective of the conditional comments which should dictate when they should be hidden or shown. Here is a link to what i have thus far. Click the MoveLeft and MoveRight buttons. [URL]
<script

=
"text/javascript"

when I try to get the height or any other graphic property of an element which is hidden (in my case, hidden in one jQuery UI tab), I can't manage to get the height of the element. If I do: $("#my_element").outerHeight() I get zero. Whereas If I do the same when the element is visible, I get its height. I work with jQuery 1.3.2 and FF 3.5.

I have a class hidden by default at the document ready state. I use the show() function when its parent has been clicked and I want to be able to apply a click function to this newly visible element - when I write it I am finding that it is overriding the initial hide(). How do I work around this? I should say that this element is just a bit of text that says "close x" and will be used to "close" its parent div down...

My design involves two "layers". On the first layer, I have a circle, with some links in the middle. This is just a div with a background image, and some text in the center. Then I have another circle, same size and shape, on top of the first one, covering it up. This circle just has a one or two word title on it. When a user hovers over the title with their mouse, I want that div to disappear, showing the links underneath it. When you mouse out, the circle with the title should show back up.
Here is the basic HTML:
[Code]...
So what happens, is if you mouse over, the circle fades away just fine. But if you move your mouse at all again, even the slightest bit, the event is triggered again. So the title fades in and then out again real quick. Even if you actually mouse completely out of the CircleTitle div, it still triggers one last time instead of just fading in.
Because mouseenter keeps track of the mouse being over that element, and then that div disappears, it's probably causing some problems. But I don't know any other way to get this to work! If someone has some ideas,

I'm trying to allow users to add the text from a text input into a list, and then have the option of removing this list item. So far I have the code below which allows me to add a styled list item with a link in it which I would like to close the box when clicked but at the moment when I click it nothing is happening. I'm not sure if I'm approaching it correctly or if there is an error in my code.
jQuery(function(){
$('#addTask').click(function() {
var Task = $("#jobTasks").val();
if (Task == '') {

$(document).ready(function(){
$("#gioca").click(function(){
$("#gioca").animate({ left: "+=400" }, 1200)

I'd like to have an alert of some type, either standard alert or a hidden div, show up when a user selects an option in a select element.
For instance, if a select element has 5 options in it and the user chooses the first one, they would get an alert that says "You have chosen the first option". I'm confident this is something that can be done with a few lines of code, but I'm not sure where to begin.
Here's the logic - I'm just not sure how to write the syntax...
If ("#select option") changes and ("#select option:eq(0):selected"), fade in the div ("alert").

I have a page with 2 forms on, namely form1 and form2!!
In form1 there is a listbox with a drop down of IDs. Now if the user selects a different ID in that list, form2 hidden variable (qualstatus) needs to be updated with the new ID which was selected in form1. I have tried the following.
function changequal() {
document.form2.qualstatus.value = document.form1.qualstatus.value
}
with a
<select name="qualstatus" id="qualstatus" onChange="changequal()">
however this does not seem to update the value of
<input name="qualstatus" type="hidden" id="qualstatus" value="<%=(rsAction.Fields.Item("qualStatusID").Value)%>">

I have a sql/recordset setup that returns an id number and description.
For example:
4test
7test44
9test123
I then have a drop down list that contains the id numbers. I'd like the recordset to return the matching record for whatever is selected in the drop down list. So if the drop down list equals "4". Then "test" would appear in the value of a hidden form field. If "9" was selected in the combo box then "test123" would be entered into the hidden form field. I'm not sure how to specify the value from the drop down list in my sql statement and also do not know how to update the value when the user changes the drop down list selection.
