JQuery :: Find A Table Row Based On The Content?

that wasn't a very descriptive title, but I couldn't work out how to phrase it! If I have a table that looks like this.

<td>Ferret</td>

and I want to insert a new row for Sid the Snake, how do I find the right row so that when I insert, the rows will still be in alphabetical order? In other words, Sid should be inserted after Rick the Rabbit and before Vernon the Vole, as "s" comes after "r" and before "v"
I've been messing about with this, but I'm getting myself confused. I'm sure there's an easy way, given the power of jQuery's selectors, but I haven't worked it out yet.

Any way to change row colors of table based on content.
For example:

in this table, the name Joseph and Mary are repeated, so, every "joseph" or "mary" row must have the same color (picked randomly or not). so as every "craig", "guile" or "john" row.
I don't want to use css class names based on the name of the "costumers" because I don't know how many costumers are and how many times they appear or repeat.

I have a DOM manipulated page - manipulated with jQuery.The user follows a link on this page - but when he uses the back button all the previous JSON data is lost and the original (unmanipulated) static page is shown.This is putting a *STOP* on our project.I cannot find a way to cache the content - have tried headers and mod_cache in apache... it still simply shows the original page.To make things worse different browsers give different results.

What i'm currently trying to do is find all columns associated with a table header.
For example:

I have a ASP.NET gridview which is rendered as a HTML table. There are 2 columns in the grid. First column is a checkbox and second column is a input textbox in which the user will enter a amount. I want to be able to loop through the rows of the table using jquery to find out the rows that have a checked checkbox and then sum the value in the corresponding textbox in which the user will enter a amount. In other words how do I loop through the table and find out the elements on the same row on the table.

I have been using JQuery in the past 6 months and I really got in love with it!Finally,I've come to an issue that (probably) have better solution than the one Im trying to do with.I have multiple tables in a HTML [code]all of these tables are some kind of gridviews filled with data using JSon and JQuery.The problem is:Before filling with data, only this part in the DOM is created <table id="myTableId"> <tbody> !so, before going forward with filling the table with data and creating <tr>'s and <td>'s, I would like to find the current (not filled one) table ID.The algorithm would be:
1. <table id="mytableId"> is generated
2. right after #1, find table ID.
3. Depending of the table ID, generated data accordingly. (Continue with creating tr's and td's)
I have tried using closest('table'), also using find(), parent(), parents() and some other methods with which I've been working previously, but still no success.I can find the table by uing var tId = $(TABLE['id*='myTable']").attr('id');, but this finds all tables with 'myTable' and I want to find only the one that is created at that moment and waits for filling with data.

I am a noob when its comes to Javascript. I used two different coda like sliders for two of my sites, one of them expands vertically based on the content, the other does not. I have a checkbox that when clicked I want to hide all of the entierows in my table where those fields with a class of internalFieldequals True. The hiding part works well but when I uncheck thecheckbox the rows do not become visible again. So I guess my questionis how do I toggle the value of this checkbox (chkInternal) to hide/show these table rows?

I am running a random image script on my 404 page; each time the page is loaded, a random image will be shown: http://philrules.com/blarg (it's the main image on the page, not the little image in the top-right corner)I'm not new to jQuery, but I usually don't write my own scripts.What I'm trying to do is add text to the paragraph which hold the image that will change depending on the image that is shown. I have a table of data brought in through lift and in it is a status column. I am wondering if there is an easy way to color a row based on the contents of that column. Any status of broken was red, edited was yellow and finalized was green. It seems like I could write a widget for doing this, but I don't know how it would work and have little experience with creating my own widgets.
Here is the initialization which includes functions for mouseover color changes.

I'm trying to dynamically build a table based on a checkbox being checked in the first td of every tr:

I should note that isChecked points to a checkbox inside a table cell. I'm trying to clone the entire row the checked checkbox is in. If I alert $(tableImportBuild).html() from within the each loop I do get the result I was expecting but for some reason I don't have access to that variable once outside the loop.

I recently had a request from a client and I'm not entirely sure this is possible. I'll try to explain it the best I can, as I can't share the development files yet...
We have a page with an image map of the United States. If anyone clicks on a state, it will bring them to a new
page. This new page contains a table that has named anchors on it, each row being a different state.
So, for example, if someone clicks on South Carolina on the map page, they will be brought here[code]...
The #sc anchor will scroll the new page down to the row in the table about South Carolina.
Is there any way to highlight the table row that the person is looking for? For example, if they click on South Carolina, they will be brought to this new page and the South Carolina row in the table would be highlighted.

Say, for example, I have a table with an undefined number of rows. Row 1 contains number 1 to 10, row 2 contains 11 to 20... you get the picture. The table is autogenerated and id's are made unique by the system (GUID's plus id). I am able to add a 'name'attribute to'img''sthat are in the td's and add a groupname i.e. '11to20'. Using this i want to test showing/hiding grouprows. Now I have a dropdownlist on the page where the user selects the groupname from
i.e."11to20". I would like to be able to hide the rows not having the selected groupname
and show the rows that do. I've constructed a query that would hide the selected groupname but it hides all tr's.

To synchronize the vertical scroll of the following "left" and "right" divs only when the beginning and end of each "blahN " div is reached inside the left div. Both divs have a finite height, which basically insures that the scroll bar will be present. The left div outputs text-based content from various database procedures while the right div outputs images corresponding to the text. The text is nothing more than pages from the website and as you can see inside the left div, each is encapsulated within a subsequent div with an incremental class (i.e.- "blah1", "blah2", and so forth.) When one scrolls through each "blah" content inside of the left div, I would like the right div to output the image that corresponds to the text (again, this data comes from the website through previous transactions.) Here's an example: John Doe comes to the website and starts reading the various pages listed inside the left div.
There might be 2 pages loaded inside the left div, or, there might be 20, but in any event, when he loads the entire page containing all this, the first page will be displayed along with the first pages' image. When he scrolls past this first entry (page) inside the left div, the corresponding image related to it inside the MySQL database is then output as well over in the right div and so on with every other "blahN " piece of content. Right now, the jQuery I'm using has synchronized both divs to scroll at the same time, regardless of specific waypoints that might be reached per-scrolling.

Was wondering if it's possible to find the left position of a table cell if
the cell is created dynamically.
I have a table with a single cell. When a button is clicked, I'd like to add
another cell to it, give the cell a class style and then find the cell's
left position. Right now I'm using doing this:
