Jquery :: Expand Div Vertically Based On The Content
Mar 30, 2010
I am a noob when its comes to Javascript. I used two different coda like sliders for two of my sites, one of them expands vertically based on the content, the other does not. This is the site I created that will demonstrate the effect I am going for. It is a more robust coda script [URL] This is the site I am creating that DOES NOT expand vertically as I would like. I would like it to behave the same as the site above. (had to use a smaller script to function in wordpress CMS) [URL]
I'm trying to get some thumbnail images that are displayed with ClueTip to be centered vertically & horizontally. The images are various sizes, though none is larger than 150px on a side, so I set ClueTip to have a width & height of 200px. The images are wrapped in a div so that I can have them display: none by default, yet assign display: block to the images themselves. div.DownloadStatsThumb { display: none; vertical-align: middle; } img.DownloadStatsThumb { display: block; margin: auto; } The markup looks like so: <a href="#" rel="#thumb_456" title="">foo</a> <div class="DownloadStatsThumb" id="thumb_456"> <img src="/path/to/some/image.jpg" width="150" height="101" alt="thumbnail image" class="DownloadStatsThumb" /> </div>
The images are always aligned left & top. Eventually, I figured out that it was div#cluetip-inner that was the culprit. While the outer div has a height and width, the inner div has display:inline-block and so was shrinking down to the img size, essentially. I then added: onActivate: function(e){ $('#cluetip-inner') .css('display', 'block') .css('width', '186px') .css('height', '186px') .css('vertical-align', 'middle') .css('background-color', '#000'); return true; } The 186px is to avoid getting scrollbars and the BG color is to assure myself that it's resizing ok. However, the images remain centered horizontally only. Is there something else I've missed?
Im looking for something that would allow a user to click on a button / link that would then reveal hidden content by sliding the whole of the main site content / container down.
I found this which slides the page content to the left or right [URL]
But need something vertical, almost as if the whole site was a big vertical accordian.
Or like on twitter / facebook phone app when refreshing for new tweets etc.
I'm using the following piece of code to create a link that, when clicked, uses jquery animation to slowly display a paragraph of text. The trouble is that the animation goes both vertically and horizontally, making it look a little too busy/cluttery. How can I tweak my code to make it only animate vertically?
I don't know what it is I am doing wrong, I am trying to get the menus to either expand or contract based on their previous states, i.e if already expanded if clicked again contract, and if contracted, expand, so far it doesn't work for the about and services link(but works for the expand all and contract all links), Code:
I have a banner that has image navigation on the lower right. The navigation links are images which, when clicked, change the banner without reloading the page. The actual switching of the banner is working when each image is clicked.
However, my problem is this:
The page itself is long and must be vertically-scrolled to see the entire content. Because of the scrolling, the banner could appear anywhere vertically on the page. And whenever I click the banner navigation hrefs, the page "jumps" so that the banner is at the top. The page should really stay in the fixed position.
I'm not sure how to set it up so that no matter where the banner section is on the scrolled page, that the page stays in the same position when the navigation is clicked.
My href's in that navigation are set up as :
Do I need something in my script so that the page won't jump? Or am I missing something in the HTML?
I used the script from this website to create an expanding and collapsing sitemap bar at the bottom of my page. What I can't find is a solution to the menu expanding up over the content instead of expanding downwards.
and I want to insert a new row for Sid the Snake, how do I find the right row so that when I insert, the rows will still be in alphabetical order? In other words, Sid should be inserted after Rick the Rabbit and before Vernon the Vole, as "s" comes after "r" and before "v"
I've been messing about with this, but I'm getting myself confused. I'm sure there's an easy way, given the power of jQuery's selectors, but I haven't worked it out yet.
I am running a random image script on my 404 page; each time the page is loaded, a random image will be shown: http://philrules.com/blarg (it's the main image on the page, not the little image in the top-right corner)I'm not new to jQuery, but I usually don't write my own scripts.What I'm trying to do is add text to the paragraph which hold the image that will change depending on the image that is shown. However, since each image is loaded into the same imgcontainer (class="shuffle"), I am trying to change the text based on the src attribute.After searching for solutions, I had pieced together this poop-stain of a function which, unsurprisingly, doesn't work:
$(function(){ if ("img.shuffle[src=http://philrules.com/new_images/404-04.gif]") { $("p").append("<b>Hello, world</b>");
how to properly evaluate a value in a document onLoad. Caveat - I am working on this via a CMS (BusinessObjects), so don't have 100% control over what's passed in to the page.
HTML: <div id="home_alert"><hr /> <h2>MEMBER ALERT!</h2> <p><a href="/member-home.htm">LOG IN to read new items!</a></p> </div>
Any way to change row colors of table based on content.
For example: <span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">+-----|-----------------------+</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"> <span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">|acess| COSTUMER |</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">|-----------------------------|</span><br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"> <span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 1 | joseph |</span> <span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 2 | mary | </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 3 | john | </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 4 | joseph | </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 5 | joseph | </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 6 | guile | </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 7 | mary | </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;">| 8 | craig | +-----------------------------+<br style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"> </span><span style="font-family: courier new,monospace;"></span> in this table, the name Joseph and Mary are repeated, so, every "joseph" or "mary" row must have the same color (picked randomly or not). so as every "craig", "guile" or "john" row.
I don't want to use css class names based on the name of the "costumers" because I don't know how many costumers are and how many times they appear or repeat.
I recently had a request from a client and I'm not entirely sure this is possible. I'll try to explain it the best I can, as I can't share the development files yet...
We have a page with an image map of the United States. If anyone clicks on a state, it will bring them to a new
page. This new page contains a table that has named anchors on it, each row being a different state.
So, for example, if someone clicks on South Carolina on the map page, they will be brought here[code]...
The #sc anchor will scroll the new page down to the row in the table about South Carolina.
Is there any way to highlight the table row that the person is looking for? For example, if they click on South Carolina, they will be brought to this new page and the South Carolina row in the table would be highlighted.
To synchronize the vertical scroll of the following "left" and "right" divs only when the beginning and end of each "blahN " div is reached inside the left div. Both divs have a finite height, which basically insures that the scroll bar will be present. The left div outputs text-based content from various database procedures while the right div outputs images corresponding to the text. The text is nothing more than pages from the website and as you can see inside the left div, each is encapsulated within a subsequent div with an incremental class (i.e.- "blah1", "blah2", and so forth.) When one scrolls through each "blah" content inside of the left div, I would like the right div to output the image that corresponds to the text (again, this data comes from the website through previous transactions.) Here's an example: John Doe comes to the website and starts reading the various pages listed inside the left div.
There might be 2 pages loaded inside the left div, or, there might be 20, but in any event, when he loads the entire page containing all this, the first page will be displayed along with the first pages' image. When he scrolls past this first entry (page) inside the left div, the corresponding image related to it inside the MySQL database is then output as well over in the right div and so on with every other "blahN " piece of content. Right now, the jQuery I'm using has synchronized both divs to scroll at the same time, regardless of specific waypoints that might be reached per-scrolling.
Here's the basic markup I'm using right now:
<div class="left"> <?php foreach($obj->field_page_objs as $k1=>$v1){
[code]....
few other websites and the responsiveness has been minimal-to-nonexistent. I'm sure this is because of both how I've explained the problem combined with the overall difficulty (or niche-ness) it introduces. In any event, I apologize beforehand if this carries over into this website.
I was wondering if it is possible to remove content from a website based on the screen resolution, rather than have to redirect to a new URL.For example:
<if height greater than 800px> Lots of code <else> <br/> </if>
I'm currently interested in displaying a quick line or two of copy if a visiter's IP address falls between a certain IP range. Do any of you have any resources or ideas of how I can go about it?
I'd like to use JS (maybe jQuery?) for this. I'd imagine I can use JS to detect the IP then use an IF statement to display said content.
I'm trying to make a system that navigates through different pages, within sub directories. It's a pretty simple concept. But I can't seem to be getting anywhere with it. I'm used to coding php, but this javascript stuff is blowing my mind. Here is what I need to accomplish.
When a particular button is pressed, a window pops up. In that window should be a framed document. that top frame is the naviation that allows stays in place. the navigation shows what page you are on and how many pages there are in the current section. There are also next and previous buttons. if you are in one section and at the end, then press next, it should take you to the first page in the next section if there is one.
I would like to show or hide a header element (e.g. <h3></h3>) based up a div tag that either contains content or not. The content is dynamically added or shown, but the header element isn't, which results in having the header element shown with no content below it many times.
I have a site that can be downloaded and run on a closed network (not needing an active Internet connection). I'd like a page that displays live data to a user with Internet connectivity (I can do this) but display "canned" data when the user is without an internet connection...and this difference in page display is transparent to the user. I know this can be done with php but the user without Internet connectivity will likely not be able to run php locally so the page must be an .htm file. I there a javascript somewhere that does this?
I have been having an issue with this script to resize my iframe(ifr) based on the content loaded in it.I am half bald from this issue. Works perfect in IE7 & 8 but not in FF or Chrome.FF works "almost" - It resizes on first page loaded but doesn't resize if the iframe content is changed until refreshed. (example: If I load search results which shows 10 results and then click one and it loads the page which isn't as high as the search results page was then it just stays at the larger height until I refresh and then resizes correctly.)
Does anyone know of how I could dynamically resize an iframe based on the content's height (for IE) so that no scrollbar appears for the iframe? The content will be from a different domain. I have searched on the web and have seen solution like this
<script> function resize() { var oframe = document.getElementById("frameID");
The html : <iframe onload="resize()" src=http://different.comain.content border="0" ....... > </iframe>
I have seen 2 solutions on the web, the only difference being lines (1) and (2) get substitued. My browser is version IE 6.
It seems that the solution with line (2) works perfectly when the content is from the same domain but gets a Permission Error if the domain is different.
When the content is from a different domain solution (1) does not give Permission error, but instead the scrollHeight is significantly smaller than the actual content. Even if the content is from the same domain it still gives the wrong size.
So my question is 1) What is the difference between oframe.document and oframe.Document, why does it give different results?
2) More importantly, how can I dynamically adjust the iframe size based on the content height from a different domain?
how can I show / hide the content of sub divs based on whether the input is != or = and be able to repeat this.I tried to hide the sub divs using , onclick if bla bla = '' ;document.getElementById('hideme').innerHTML = ''; which works, but once I try to enter a new input, then nothing happens, even if the content of the sub divs is = input.
I'm using javascript in addition to a web service (BTBuckets) to display different content to visitors based on actions they take on my site. The javascript is working fine, but I noticed that if I simulate BTBuckets being disabled using Firefox Adblock none of the content shows up. So in the off chance of the service going offline it'll leave some pretty funky holes in the my content. I tried <noscript> tags which works with javascript off, but the content is still blank when I disable BTBuckets. I'm wondering if there's a way to display the default content if the service is unavailable?
Here's the code I'm using: In the head: <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[[ $BTB={s:XXXXX}; $BTB.jsh="[URL]"; //]]> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + $BTB.jsh.replace(/(https?:)/i,document.location.protocol) + "' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); </script>
The code in the body used to replace an image depending on visitor behavior: <script type="text/javascript"> var _t = ""; if ($BTB.clusters["ppc_visitors"]) { _t = ""images/top-photo-tracking-number.jpg" alt="Call Toll-Free: 1-800-XXX-XXXX">"; } else { _t = ""images/top-photo.jpg" alt="Call Toll-Free: 1-800-XXX-XXXX">"; } document.write('<img src= ' + _t ); </script> <noscript><img src="images/top-photo.jpg" alt="Call Toll-Free: 1-800-XXX-XXXX"></noscript>
I have the following script resizeing my iframe based on height. The problem is if my site is on one domain say http://mydomain.company.com and the target page is on another domain say http://anotherdomain.mycompany.com the script does not resize the page. I cannot add anything to the pages i am linking to because they live in a CVS repository so i cannot call a function or passs information in that way.
is there any way to make my script work? I'm so fustrated, I'm so close! help!
<!--this script auto resizes the height of the iframe based on contents--> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function resize_iframe(){ document.getElementById("_iframe").height=768 // required for mozilla/firefox bugs, value can be "", null, or integer document.getElementById('_iframe').height=window.frames["_iframe"].document.body.scrollHeight } // --> </script>
which uses the following iframe <iframe width=96% id="_iframe" name="_iframe" src="intro.htm" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" ALLOWTRANSPARENCY="true" onload=resize_iframe();></iframe>
