How does one cause a form element to appear ONLY if a certain form selection is made before it?
That is for example say there is a form element of type Radio called "format" so only if they select format value = normal then the form input fields called URL and Name are to appear as the next choices otherwise form input field Group and checklist Places are to appear as the next choices.
I have a form with two select fields (facility[] and lightbox[]), along with a few other text inputs. Both of the select fields allow the user to select multiple options. This is fine for our needs, as long as the user only selects fields from within one select box. As soon as the user decides to make a selection from the other select field, I'd like to permit that, but clear all other selections from the first field.

I am trying to display a rel of each option as they are selected into a div below it . There are several selects of classProductAvailability on the page. When one of the selects changes, I'd like the value of the rel of the selected option to display.At first it seems to work, but only if you start by changing the last pull down menu. The trouble seems to be in the"select.ProductAvailability option:selected", this needs to be written for this instance, not all of the selects of that class on the page. How do I write that, I've tried$(this+" option:selected") but it won't take.

I have a ColdFusion page with a select drop down list. On submit, I'm storing the value in a cfparam and trying to use jQuery to auto select that particular option. Currently I'm using :contains but this is unacceptable because it selects the last item that contains the cfparam.

I'm using onchange display to hide/show form elements depending on the value of a select box. It works perfectly well (I actually really adore it) for one select box, but I have another select box which I'd like to act similarly.

But when I go to add a second select (obj,id1,id2,id3,id4,id5,id6) with new "ifs" and id's, etc and so forth, neither work.
Is there any way to fuse them and get a second select to work the same?

I want the <cfselect> tag to display on if Sub Category is selected on the first <select> tag. I expect that it will use the onchange attribute but other than that I have no idea.
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:

I have two questions...
Question 1 How can I make this piece of script act a little smarter. Look at the order form, I'm catering for up to 4 people and providing lunch for them. If they select 3 people and the spaghetti bol for lunch, it's only adding $10 where it should be adding $30. Obviously this is simple multiplication but since the values in my form are prices it makes it a little tricky. I'm guessing an onselect on the first part of the form which changes the pricing of the other items would be the way to go, but how do I do this?
Question 2 The "Total Price" is placed before the <form> tag by the script. This is ok but it's not where I want it. How can I position this text elsewhere in the document?
I built a reusable plugin for slideshows. Client now needs me to add something that will affect its reusability.The line below is a snippet which is attached to a nav button. Each slideshow has a dot per slide. When clicked I get the number of sibling that it is within the group and then I look UP the DOM to the nearest div with the class called 'slide_holder'. I then display the slide that has the same sibling number as the dot(In other words - If you click the second dot in the group of dots, then the second slide will fade in. Is there a way to display the file selection window for a file input field via JavaScript? My goal is to emulate the behavior seen in Yahoo! Mail BETA. When adding an attachment, it displays a file selection window when you click a custom button/icon. I saw an example of using CSS to actually position the browse button behind an image. I am hoping that isn't the only option.

This code is able to display a table and show me state, County, Genus and GenusCount and also it shows when I select option as All for Counties in my drop down. it can based on which it can change my table and give me State, all the Counties, its Genus, GenusCount but when I select a particular County and then select for genus in my drop down menu. The only way I can do this is from a javascript written by sending it over to a second page and I need it on just one page. Here is my code below:

Is there anyway I could control the selected item, and put it on the top of the current selection box. I know for the first and last 4 item, it may not be able to show on the top of the select box. But if I have hundreds of record, I want the selected item to show on the top if they not the first or last 4. And I am not interested in the items before the selected item either.

I have a tight space requirement here the explaination then code sample. I have a row of inputs and a link with a select set in the between in a div. I need to allow multi selection on the select which is the problem. The select must be within the div and when in non-select state set to 1 when the user is to make a selection I expand the select to 10. This causes the div to expand and any thing under to move in kind. I need a way to allow the select to expnad with out moving expanding the parent div.

Within a classic asp webform (using vbscript) I would like part of the form (input boxes within table structure) to be specific/displayed depending on the users selection from the combo box in the row above.
I think the best solution would be using Javascript can anyone suggest a solution or example code?
