Change Options Of Select Based On Selection In Other Select
Mar 20, 2010
I've been having problems getting my select option to change the options of another select option. I'm not much of a javacsript coder, so I'm at a lost.When I select the first option nothing appears in the second option.
I have a form on which two separate drop down values need to change based on which option the user selects at the top of the form ("dbt" refers to the remote database the results are pulled from);I have to stick to the names/ids otherwise the form will return an error.I've found examples that dynamically change ONE select list, but not two.
I have a php function that list all of the countries from my database as a select option, then based on what the user selects for their country im using jquery to make an ajax call and get all of the states/regions for that country. This part works fine. I'm running into an issues, as when a user login's in to edit their profile, how would I make the select change based on what is in the databse.
I am trying to make a simple code that has a selection list (with the choice fruit or veggie). When the user chooses fruit, the second list displays the options apple, orange, banana. When the user changes their choice to veggie, the second select list then contains carrot, corn, potatoes (and the apple, orange, banana disappear).
I am working on a class registration system that requires students to register for a main class (101, 102 or 103). The student is supposed to select one main course as well as provide a second choice in case the first is not available. I have two dropdown select fields to capture data
1) Choice -1: 101 / 102 / 103 ( Student needs to select one - Reading the classID from classes table) 2) Choice -2: 101 / 102 / 103 ( If student selects 101 in Choice-1 then the only classes available under Choice-2 should be 102 or 103).
How can I accomplish the above? Further to this there are two fields on the form where I would like to auto populate based on what they have selected in Choice-1 and Choice-2.
For Example: If a parent selects choice1: 101 the child Choice1 field should autopopulate with 100. If a parent selects Choice2: 201 the child Choice2 field should autopopulate with 200
How I can select div based on radiobutton selection. I had 3 div with id tag. I renamed it all with sub1, sub2, sub3. I want to make it sub1 as a default .
While appending the option-elements to the targetselect the original option-elements disappear (exactly at step of line 13). This is unwanted behaviour.
I have a ColdFusion page with a select drop down list. On submit, I'm storing the value in a cfparam and trying to use jQuery to auto select that particular option. Currently I'm using :contains but this is unacceptable because it selects the last item that contains the cfparam.
$("option:contains('<cfoutput>#form.company_type#</cfoutput>')").attr('selected', 'selected'); Is there something like this: $("option").equals('<cfoutput>#form.company_type#</cfoutput>')").attr('selected', 'selected');
[Code]....
I willconsider other alternatives to accomplishing my objective.
I am trying to change the value of #name and #category inputs based on the value of select. A friend gave me the code below, but I can't get it to work.
<script type="text/javascript"> $('#Gift_Type').change(function(){ if ($(this).val() == 'Monthly'){ $('#name').val('Partnership')
I am new to javascript stuff but am looking to develop a form which includes 2 drop down menus but I would like to grey out some options in the second one based on the selection in the first. Basically this is a simplification of what I have:
What I would like is that if south or east are selected for orientation then I can only select front left or front right but if north or west are selected then only rear left or rear right are available.
I don't know if this is something you could do without JavaScript, but anyways... I want to make a drop down menu that changes a form based on the option, like if I chose Option1, it would show Form1 and so on.
what would be the best way to have a hidden array of possible text directed at a textarea and then if something is not within that array "onfocus", a certain select option is chosen within that form?
This is what I'm trying to do:When a user selects a group in the first SELECT box, another SELECTbox should be loaded from an external PHP-file (using MySQL), based onthe group-id of the first SELECT box.I use this code:
I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head> $(function() { //function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
The user must bem select options in this 4 files in order, for example, he must bem select first "First Choice" next "Second Choice"... The options not be same.
I've been playing around with the following code for days already and still in the dark tunnel. Can someone tell me what's wrong with the way I've coded it?
var cell1 = row.insertCell(0); var selOpt = document.createElement('input'); selOpt.setAttribute('type', 'select'); selOpt.option = document.forms[0].Country.option; selOpt.setAttribute('name', 'AnotherCtry'); cell1.appendChild(selOpt);
<edit>What I'm trying to do is to copy the options of the Country to another select which I've allowed the users to 'add' to the current row.</edit>
I have a select and list of options. I have onkeypress event on the select input. As the user types I am trying to match the entered key strokes to the entries in the options and setting the selected value to the first match.
The problem I am facing is this: My options have 10000,0000, 10001, 1111,0001. Say I type 10, with less than one sec delay I consider them as one unit. So I try to find whether there are any entries in the options which starts with 10 and setting the value. But brower is considering the last entered key stroke , in this example 0 and setting the 0000 which is the first match.
Is there any way that I can stop the browser from doing that or any idea?
I've searched the web and every tutorial I can find says the same thing, and I am doing what they say, but it's inexplicably not working. Basically, I'm using a nested object to populate a select box using the new Option() method. Unfortunately, when I include the new Option line, it breaks the loop and does not add anything.
I have 8 pages that are very similar. The only difference is the select options with different group of names on each page. I am using a global script.Is there a way to have a central point with array of names that would write or function in the select option depending on the page.Example below
