I am having a strange problem with a javascript function that does not return the value but returns the code inside the function. My best guess is that I am incorrectly calling the function hasLandedOn()and jquery is interpeting it. Why is this happening? I highlighted the parts in red.-Tom ReeseThe following is returned NOT the variable imageName.
function hasLandedOn(){ var selectorLoc = $("#selector").offset(); var imageName = "";
This is probably a basic question as I am a beginner with Javascript/JQuery. Here is my code for the head and body elements, what am I doing wrong as nothing is happening. Is it my element id? I just want the whole dive to fade when the page opens and to fade in over mouse over. Here is the code:
I'm totally new to jquery, however I got a script working The script is looking for images with the class "thumbnail" and exchanges them by rollover....
I have an iframe and I load a html page with jquery code.I have 2 checkboxes and I have 2 div in this iframe. That way when someone checks the check boxes it will appentTo html code into the div.I was not able to run any code or get them working. So I just wanted to test if I can do it. So I wrote basic code which is this:[code] I tried that code above. I won't work. It was to detect if the input check box named hosting_Service is checked. If it is checked then it will have a popup window with a message saying ok.I put this code it and tried it. Nothing happens when I click the check box.
I am making a multiple simultaneous requests with AJAX for my website, first to load the background with fading effect written in JavaScript, and all these all fine in Firefox and Chrome accept IE for some reasons...
Here is the link if anyone would like to throw me some light!

Is it the fading code which I have to write differently?
############################# document.write("<style type='text/css'>#content1 {visibility:hidden;}</style>"); function initImage() { imageId = 'content1';
New to jQuery, I did many searches before posting. This is happening in both IE6 and Firefox 3.0.13. I've gotten the following script to work under strange circumstances (explained below first snippet).
I have trubble with a jquery function witch is supposed to fade-in and -outbackgroundpictures for my banner at my site. Been trying for days but it just wont work.The code lookes like this;
<script type="text/javascript"> var imageArray = new Array(); // global variables var milliseconds = 5000;
I found an issue with using embed code and jquery's show()/hide () method. I am using embed code inside of a div. So it looks something like this: <div id="test"> <embed> whatever here </embed> </div>
Now on that I want a user to be able to click a button to show/hide the content. So I create a function like this: <script type="text/javascript"> function showEmbed(){ if($("#test").show()){ $("#test").hide(); } else { $("#test").show(); }} </script>
I then binded that to just a basic text link: <a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="showEmbed();">show/hide</a> Now that works fine as far as showing/hiding the embed code. However, there is one issue with this. When I click the link it reloads the data. I do not want it to reload the data. Say for instance there is a video playing in there. If you click the link it will stop the video and when you click it again to show it will start again. How to get it not to reload the data.
I am currently doing a fadein and fadeout function using jquery. When I click on a <a>, the page will fade in. There is an alert message (which is the javascript alert()) prompt out on the page once the page fade in. However, I want to fade out the page when I click the "OK" in the alert message.
I've tried but cannot success..
$('alert').click( function(){ $('#fade , .popup_block').fadeOut(function() { $('#fade, a.close').remove(); //fade them both out
I've set up two buttons to dynamically load in content. However for some reason the content only loads on the first time you click a button. The transition function does receive the correct variables however. The fade0ut animation also doesn't take affect whilst the replaceWith() function is inside the transition function.
This is a really awesome script that I'm sure all of you can put to use if you haven't yet heard of it. However, I'm trying to get it to fade a background image on my css styled navigation for my a:hover. Here is the script with a little simple tutorial on how to set it up: [URL] My only other knowledge is in PHP, so after about 2 hours of fail in this client-side language
This is the link to my site so far: [URL] You can see the script working as it is on my little yellow MW logo on the right side of the navigation. So in my scenario, I am looking to fade button.png to button-hover.png (both repeating on the x axis).
I have a gallery style page with rectangular images on laid out like a grid of nine. When the user looks at the page there is just the images and no information, but when they hover over the image I would like some text and a bar underneath to show up over the top so the user can read some information.my images sit in "a" tags. There is also a div tag in there which has it's z-index and position (absolute) set up so that it sits over the top of the image element in the "a" tag. stripped down e.g.
<a href="#"><img.... /><div>the info</div></a>
I need the div tag withinin the "a" tag to be set to 0 opacity. When the user hovers over the image the div tag slowly fades in to 100% opacity. Once the user moves the mouse away from the image the div tag slowly disappears again.I need each one to work independently so that it only changes the one currently being hovered over.
I'm having problems with my text appearing aliased and turning blue when it fades in and out. I've tried using the Newsticker plugin and the Easyticker plugin, and I'm getting the same result in IE7 and Firefox 3.6. I'm using jQuery 1.2.6-min Specifying a background color doesn't fix it. The examples on the plugin websites look fine, but when I try and implement the effect myself, my orange text becomes aliased and fades to a light blue color before dipping to white. Same thing happens on the fade in. attached is a screenshot of what I'm seeing.
I am trying to set up some simple Javascript that takes the text value from a form submission (textarea A), and dynamically inserts that text into another textarea on the same page (textarea B).I need the text from textarea "A" to go in the *middle* of pre-existing text inside textarea B (instead of replacing it).
I am VERY NEW to javascript programming as I am to web development. I am pretty decent with VB.Net though. My question is, what are the different ways to call a JavaScript Function either from within XHTML Markup code or from a VB.Net Code-Behind file?
In my web page i am using tweetmeme button java script code.its working fine.When i was trying to put js code inside ajax content,and click the ajax callback button the entire page shows blank page.I thought the reason for this is java script using window.location.href.But i am not sure what is the exact reason for this issue. If i remove the tweetmeme button js code,ajax navigation button working fine.
I have the following code inside the <head> of my php file. What this code will do is change the style="display:none;" of a div element, depending on which option is selected within a combo box. Code:
function showMenu() { for(i = 0; i < max; i++) { setTimeout("document.getElementById('contextlinks').getElementsByTagName('UL')[0].style.filter = 'alpha(opacity="+i+")'",100); } }
This is supposed to increment the alpha opacity of the UL inside the DIV contextlinks by 1% every 0.1 seconds (for a fade effect). However when the function is activated, the opacity is set directly to 100% rather than increasing bit by bit.
<HTML> <HEAD> <script type="text/javascript"> function linkbox(value) {
[Code]....
In my plans when I click on "Open 1" link in the bottom of the page, inside the div with id="pagehere" it'll appear the page www.mydomain.com/1.htm. The same fot "Open 2" link which should show the page 2.htm inside of the div tags.
Which effect can I use to do this? I am trying to use .html() but it seems it is not the right way..
This is probably more of a basic javascript question than a specificjquery function.I have this jQuery function named validateSubmit()which calls two other regular javascript functions. When using IE,both createCharts() and getDirectorIDs get called but when usingFireFox, only createCharts() gets called and never makes it togetDirectorIDs() and I'm not sure why this occurs.
<script type="text/javascript"> // make sure at least one checkbox is checked function validateSubmit() {
I would like to implement a fade in fade out effect on hover in the 'Our News' section, so when I hover over a news item the grey background of that box fades in slowly, how can I do this?
I have what I think is a strange issue but others may see something I am missing.I am using AJAX functionality to process a php script on a server and then place the output of the script into a div element.Here is the code snippet
Code: function doWork13(typeCode,colorBlockName,objectCategory,imgID){ httpObject = getHTTPObject(); if (httpObject != null) {[code]....
This code shown here works perfectly BUT....I do not want the alert message to be there. When I remove that line of code the script fails to function. There is no error just nothing happens.The function is to replace one image with another and the variable in question is simply the ID tag of the particular image being modified.As I said it works with the alert but does not with out, could it be a timing issue in that the alert gives enough time for the if statement in the setOutput13 function become TRUE
