JQuery :: Trigger Fade Out Function When Clicking Alert Message

I am currently doing a fadein and fadeout function using jquery. When I click on a <a>, the page will fade in. There is an alert message (which is the javascript alert()) prompt out on the page once the page fade in. However, I want to fade out the page when I click the "OK" in the alert message.
I've tried but cannot success..

The Farbtastic color picker is an elegant solution to the color-picking problem, but its usefulness is prohibitive in those situations where there is not enough screen real-estate. Because it is large, these are many. Since I want to use it in such a situation, I started working towards a solution.
The designed solution involved in clicking on something small, such as Click to Activate, and having the rest of the page become faded-out, while the color-picker appears superimposed over other parts of the page.
That solution is implemented up to a point. In the code posted:
- The trigger appears as part of the original DOM., - Clicking the trigger makes the page text fade, the color-picker appear, and the trigger changes to something like Click to Deactivate, - Upon clicking, it does disappear, and the page text resumes it original appearance..
After this point, one might work towards making it more modular and more easily usable as is farbtastic itself.
It requires a var to hold state, and other things. Ideally, it could be combined with the original to offer a wider range of usage patterns. I have no doubt that the code can vastly be improved, since I am relatively new to jquery, although not to computing.
The code is posted below, in the hope that it proves useful to others, The only change made to the farbtastic.js code itself is to add "id='fbc' " to the outermost <div which is added internally. This change is not shown because it would involve posting all of farbtastic.js for this one change. The section of text used to illustrate presumed page content is from the NSIS Users Manual, and has no significance beyond being some text. The div named 'overlay' was employed to allow shifting the whole thing around as a unit relative to the trigger but might be eliminated were that not needed, since everything else works without it, Note also that the input#color from the original farbtastic has been replaced by 'repeater' which is a <div, but seems to work ok to get the color info.
I found this script for a navigation fade-in/fade-out and I want to modify it so it'll only trigger the fade-in/fade-out functions of the span class is NOT set to active. Here is the javascript:

It's the part of the code beneath the comment CONDITIONALS BELOW that I want to be able to only trigger it if span is not set to class .active.

In the below code, the alert message returns in one instance: 'someAnimal is [Mammal "Mr. Biggles"]' I don't understand how this is possible. We pass as an argument 'Mr. Biggles' to the Mammal constructor. Then assign it to the object name property. But then it ends there. There is a function called toString which will return the alert. But the toString function is not being called like this: alert('someAnimal is '+someAnimal.toString()); If it was like how it is above, it would make sense to me but now it makes no sense to me because I don't see where that toString() is being called - I only see that it is prototyped to the Mammal object.

I am using jquery.validate.js file to validate an input form, It works fine, my problem is the error messages are not get cleared while clicking the reset button in the form.
I am creating an application where users can type a message into a text area. I want it so that when they type the character "@" then an alert is triggered. My textarea is #usermsg. At the moment I have the following but I think I could be barking up the total wrong tree with it.

I have a classified listing application (php) that shows an alert message on the main page to let the user know if there was an error, if the listing was entered, if a required field was left blank, etc.
the alert msg. displays whenever the page is loaded. However, if someone navigates with the forward or back buttons in the browser, or reloads the page, the alert message displays again.
I am pulling my hair out for a solution that shows the alert only once and then does not show an alert again until a new message is generated.

works ok, but my alert box comes in really slowly, then bounces. I want it to appear faster and to also appear after exactly one hour. I don't think that works right either. What do I need to change in order to do this?
I am in the process of learning javascript and I've been looking at this code for the longest time ever. So far I got most of it done. For example I leave all the required fields empty, it gives me the alert message of the first field and not the alert messages of all the others. What I want to know is how can you go through and check the whole form first before submitting and then when there is any error on any field, shows just one alert message containing all the error messages.

I want to also validate birthday.. and I tried using regular expression with leap years but the expression is too hard for me to think of. So I am gonna try using split() but I don't know and for the clear button. Since I blur functions, how would I just clear all the blur statements = like a restart of the form and then when the user enters the field the blur function still works?
I've had this script for a few years which I use to make a search box, it adds the user's search to the end of a url, so you can make a search box for Google or pretty much anything. If the user clicks on submit ('Find') without selecting a pull down option I like the script to alert something like 'select a site' or if they don't enter any keyword to alert 'enter a keyword', however when either of these happens, the alert box needs to be clicked several times to get rid of the alert. so I'm wondering if the script is running in some kind of loop.... The script does what I wat I just want to make the alert boxes go after the first 'click' to hide them...

I have been looking all over the web for a solution, because my website displays funky in safari. To fix this i figured i'd tell users that if they are using safari, then using javascript, i could tell them a message. Originally i tried detecting safari then displaying a message. But i couldn't ever find a browser detection for safari. So i thought wait.... If i could:
1. get a javascript alert saying my message. 2. time that message alert frequency by a session, say 10 days? or even every browser session...
Before the user can close a page, I would like to have a message come up that asks if this is really what they want to do. the page needs to stay open.

I have a calendar where i write my events. If I have 2 events in the same day, how to put a carriage return between the events in the alert part of message? For example, I want this alert message:
Event one to the office. Event two to the store.

In Salesforce, I am adding what they call an "S-Control" via HTML/JavaScript that will display an alert if certain field criteria are met. The alert would be a reminder to hit the "Submit for Approval" button if the Quote Estimate is equal to or greater than $50,000. For testing purposes I added another criteria, that the Opportunity name must = Test and Stage must = Proposal/Price Quote.
Here's what I've come up with so far, taking from other examples, but I receive no alert
Firebug is giving me no error messages, but alert() message is never triggered. I want the alert() message defined below to alert what the value of the variable result is (e.g. {filter: Germany}). And it doesn't. I think the javascript breaks down right when a new Form instance is instantiated because I tried putting an alert in the Form variable and it was never triggered. Note that everything that pertains to this issue occurs when form.calculation() is called code...
