JQuery :: .ajax - Call A Function That Could Display Some Type Of 'thinking' Icon Before Success

Oct 21, 2010

When using .ajax, and when before I receive any data back from the server, I would like to call a function that could display some type of 'thinking' icon. In looking a the documentation I see there is a 'success', for when after receiving data back successfully, and an 'error', for obviously when something bad happens and need to error gracefully. I do not see something like a 'beforeSuccess' function that would allow me to specify, for example, to overlay a 'thinking icon' on top of a <div> after request is sent to the server and before I get any data back. I would assume this is a pretty standard necessity in ajax applications, and probably missing something here. How exactly is this done using the .ajax methods?

Jquery :: When Click On The Icon To Display The Datepicker - The Picker Is Displayed But It Displays On The Wrong Icon

Apr 21, 2011

I am using multiple instances of the jquery datepicker on my form. Due to my CSS i could not use the icon trigger built-into jquery, it caused the icon to be displayed below the input field and i wanted it to be displayed next to the text. Below is the code for one of my input fields.

[Code]...

I have multiple date fields i want to use the datepicker with. The issues i am having are; 1. when i click on the icon to display the datepicker, the picker is displayed, but it displays on the wrong icon. No matter what icon i click on it always gets displayed on only one and it is always the same one. Each field has its own unique name and id the only thing that each field shares is a class. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. My other issue is that when i click on the icon the page scrolls to the top, so if i am clicking on a picker icon at the bottom of the screen it scrolls the screen to the top.

Is there a way to listen for a map type control click? Or a way to detect when the map type changes? I want to call a function to reload the overlay when the map type changes.

JQuery :: Cannot Get A Success Message To Display After Form Is Sent (after Validation)

Mar 2, 2011

A website I'm designing vgdesign.net/thc has a form in the footer. It functions how I want right now (to my knowledge) except for the fact that after a user submits a form and it passes validation, I want a message to be displayed that says "Thank You". I have a class created for this in my stylesheet but I don't know how to trigger it when the form is sent successfully. Essentially, I would like the result to look like this:

If the form doesn't pass validation, I want it to not display until the users fix the errors in the validation pop ups and resubmit. The php script that sends the form contents to the specified email is at the top of my index.php page. The validation tool I'm using is called jquery inline form validations (found here: [URL] How can I have that success message pop up when the form was successfully submitted?

JQuery :: Call A Function After An AJAX Update Is Completed?

Aug 30, 2010

I am having a couple problems with what I am guessing is sequencing. I have several different events that perform a task and then refresh a portion of the screen using this code snippet: function RefreshComments(sID)

[Code]...

So this comes down to finding away to fire the javascript function only after the JQuery function has finished updating the HTML property of the DIV tag. I'm having a similar problem with a .post() command, and I expect whatever the solution is to this problem can be used to resolve the other as well.

JQuery :: Ajax Call Not Working Within Click Handler Function?

May 18, 2010

I have the following code:

$(document).ready(function(){
$('#link').click(function() {
alert('Clicked!');
$('#content').load('dialogs/load/content', function() {});
});
});

The link is a normal link that is not dynamically created. The alert works. I know the problem is not the Ajax call because this works just fine:

$(document).ready(function(){
$('#content').load('dialogs/load/content', function() {});
$('#link').click(function() {

[Code]....

It only breaks when located inside the click handler. It does not return response headers or a response. Is there something about event handlers and ajax that I'm missing?

JQuery :: Callback Function Required To Make Ajax Call

Jul 15, 2010

On a project I got stuck on this "problem". When you make a json (ajax) call. You also need a callback function. Which means I have to call the next $.getJSON within that callback function to read the next portion of data. In my opinion this is not very readable code...What I want is a nice and readable piece of code. Where you could just write it like this:
var data1 = $.getJSON(..);
var data2 =$.getJSON(..);
I've found a solution here: [URL] (explains my problem perfectly). But it's not compatible with the getJSON story. Is there already a possibility to do this with the jquery library?

JQuery :: Speed Up An Ajax "Search As You Type" Function

I'm working on a 'live search' for some products in my database. I use a web method in an aspx page to hit the database up for data. The search fires off on each keyup event.

Here's the code that is fired to get the search results:

My problem is that when a user types in the input field really fast, the whole page slows down, it looks like the user isn't typing and there is a lot of lag for the cursor to catch up with the current position. What can I do to prevent this slowdown in my input field and speed up my page responding to the user's typing? I'd really like to have fast results and response time like Google's search.

JQuery :: .ajax Success With XMLHttpRequest In 1.3.x?

Jan 15, 2011

My app recently upgraded to 1.4 and as such started using the XMLHttpRequest in the success callback of the .ajax function however we been forced to roll back to 1.3.2 due to performance issues with IE7 (forced to use in a corporate environment) Is there any way to get access to the XMLHttpRequest after an ajax call? If not, would anyone be so kind as to point out if its possible to modify the 1.3.2 source to add the parameter to the success call back like in 1.4? I am hoping its a simple modification however I could be wrong. We are set to upgrade to the lastest jQuery when we get a browser upgrade to IE9 but that could be up to a year away and I would really like to continue to use the XMLHttpRequest in my app as its a lot faster than my old approach.

JQuery :: Passing The Success Function Name Into A Generic Function?

Jan 6, 2012

I have a lot of similar instances of the following code on my page:

$('#btnEditParty').click(function () {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "WardAdmin.aspx/GetParty",

[Code]....

I'd like to create a generic function to save repeating a lot of code and then just pass in the relevant values.

I'm fine with that, the only thing I'm not sure about is if/how I can pass in a function name to be called on success/fail.

This post is where I was doing something similar to save repeated code: [URL]

In a similar way is there a way of passing in a function name to be called on success?
