JQuery :: Adding Parameter To Url Before Submitting

Aug 30, 2010

I want to add parameters to the querystring or url before submitting to server. Is this possible?

For example:

This is the normal url: [url]

This is the url after user clicking submit: [url]

So I would like jquery to add the querystring parameter after user click submit.

Adding A Parameter To Picture URL In Lightbox?

Feb 4, 2011

Currently, I have Lightbox 2 working in the classical way, i.e. a link to an image (in my case it is a script, i.e. photo.php?id=123) with a rel="lightbox" attribute.I would like Lightbox to add *by itself* a parameter to the picture URL, so that photo.php?id=123 becomes for example photo.php?id=123&viewer=lightboxAgain, Lightbox should add the parameter by itself, I do not want to put that parameter in the page from which Lightbox is called.

the whole idea is to submit the form in the *else* block if the condition that all compulsory fields are filled (which is checked in the IF block)...but this only works in Firefox. in chrome and IE, the code execution does not go pass the "Processing Form Submission Please Wait" that is shown. The *return true* line never gets executed which is the one that actually send the form...

JQuery :: How To Validate Web Form Before Submitting

Feb 1, 2010

I have a asp.net web form that I need to validate before submitting. I've tried the AJAX Control Toolkit but I was having problem with multiple ValidationSummary control conflict. So, my next option I can think of is to use jQuery. First of, how do I test to see if a textbox is blank or not? If blank, output a message to a asp.net Label control on the page and stop the web form submission. Second, if the validation succeeds, proceeds to submitting the web form.

JQuery :: Submitting A Form With VCR-like Buttons?

Mar 13, 2011

I want the "play" button to perform ajaxSubmit (Form plugin) submitting a bunch of fields on the form in which these buttons are contained. This will start a simulation based on the passed in parameters.I want the other bottons to send signals to the server to control the simulation. They don't really need to send parameters. I presume I can just do this with something like jQuery.post().

Here's my problem. All of the buttons in my toolbar just submit the form, presumably because they are buttons declared within the same <form></form>. (I copied the code for these buttons directly from the jQuery UI demo toolbar.)My initial thought was to use the Form plugin somehow detect which button was clicked or something like that, but I can't figure out how to do that.How do I make the play button submit the form, while the other buttons do different jQuery.post() calls? Or is there a better way ofachievingthe result I want?

JQuery :: Submitting A Form Without Clicking On Submit?

May 3, 2010

I have a form with about 10 fields, and the action is sent to a php file which processes the form. Now, I also like to use a Thickbox such that the user can preview the page before actually submitting it to the process.php. That means, I have one submit button and one href, which href links to an iFrame thickbox to preview the page. My problem is that I don't know how to obtain the input values in the iFrame, without user clicking on submit (rather i want to get the values through href). something like the preview on this forum, except I want it on thickbox.

I am more than happy to look at other ways to do this if JQuery is not the answer. All I want is a page that doesn't refresh or redirect but does submit a form.

JQuery :: Remote: Form Not Submitting Until Validation Fails At Least Once

Jul 23, 2009

I've got some strange behavior with validation. I'm loading up a form to allow editing of an existing database entry. If I make my changes to the fields, enter in the required "revision comments" and submit, the page does NOT post, it seems to only refresh and empty out all the entries in each of the fields. Now, on the other hand if I open the form to make changes to a database entry and immediately press "Submit" without filling in the revision comments field, it fails validation and tells me to enter comments. Now if I fill in comments to satisfy all the requirements and press submit, it posts and I get my "Successful Entry" confirmation prompt. I think I've narrowed it down to the remote: part of my jQuery. I eliminated by trial-and-error the other pieces of the jQuery code and it seems that when I remove the remote: it does not experience this strange behviour.

jQuery Code:
[code]
// Form Validation customization
$("#Form_business").validate({
rules: {

JQuery :: Submitting Information Based On Which Form Was Clicked

Dec 8, 2010

I've been doing PHP for a couple months, but just came across jquery today. I'm making a wedding-registry-style wishlist site for the holidays, and one of my pages is a list of all the items on your wishlist for you to modify.

Here is my jquery script, which I had learned from a tutorial:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$(".submit1").click(function() {
var item_name = $("#item_name").val();
var item_notes = $("#item_notes").val();
var imgid = $("#imgid").val();
var price = $("#item_price").val(); .....
var dataString = 'item_name='+ item_name + '&imgid=' + imgid + '&price=' + price + '&item_notes=' + item_notes;

$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "edit.php",
data: dataString,
success: function(){
$('.success').fadeIn(500).fadeOut(500);
}});
return false;
});
});
</script>

My forms are structured like so:
// PHP WHILE STATEMENT
// Retrieve data about item
<form>
<input type="hidden" name="imgid" id="imgid" value="<?=$imgid?>">
<input name="item_name" type="text" id="item_name" value="<?=$item_name?>" />
<input name="item_notes" type="text" id="item_notes" value="<?=$item_notes?>" />
<input name="item_price" type="text" id="item_price" value="<?=$price?>" />
<input type="image" class="submit1" src="images/edit_item.png" border="0" />
<span class="success" style="display:none">Item updated!</span>
</form>
// END WHILE STATEMENT

Now, the problem is obviously that when this HTML code gets repeated, all the forms have the same input IDs. I tried adding numbers to the form using php, so it would be something like "item_name1", "item_name2", "item_name3", etc depending on the form, but then I realized I don't know how to pass parameters into the jquery function.

Is there any way to do this? So that it's something like...
$(function() {
$(".submit1").click(function() {
// Find parent form (which would have the ID "1", "2", "3", etc.)
// var id = parent form ID
// Get info from "item_name1" if form "1" was submitted
// Get info from "item_name2" if form "2" was submitted
// Etc.
var item_name = $("#item_name"+id).val();
var item_notes = $("#item_notes"+id).val();
var imgid = $("#imgid"+id).val();
var price = $("#item_price"+id).val();
// declare datastring
// ajax
return false;
});
});
