I have a asp.net web form that I need to validate before submitting. I've tried the AJAX Control Toolkit but I was having problem with multiple ValidationSummary control conflict. So, my next option I can think of is to use jQuery. First of, how do I test to see if a textbox is blank or not? If blank, output a message to a asp.net Label control on the page and stop the web form submission. Second, if the validation succeeds, proceeds to submitting the web form.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a submit button on my form. However, I would like to do validation before submitting. I would submit the form values only if the validation has passed. How can I do that? Can I have an example please.
I have the following code:
<input type ="text" id="password"/> <input type="text" id="confirmPassword"/><label for="err"></label><input type="submit" value=Save/>
I've a page that has 2 forms. If the user clicks the bottom form the validations appear and everything goes red but the Top form is a required field but it doesn't as it's a separate form. How can I validation form0 and form1 together to show to the user the required fields. When the user clicks form0 it goes over to a pagedLIst, the user returns and textfield gets populated with the product that as selected. So when they hit form1, that value gets passed through as a hiddenfield..
<form id="form0">
...text box input to search for your product, returns to this page populated the found product
<input class="button" id="FindProduct" type="submit" value="Find Product" name="action"/>

I am having an issue where:
User clicks a button it opens a lightbox (I am using Fancybox) - a form appears inside the modal. The data is submitted via AJAX and I am trying to validate the form before the form within the lightbox is submitted.
My button with the click handler right now does a GET to a server to send the data. Along with some other JavaScript. What is the best way for me to validate my form within a lightbox, and submit after it validates. Sending AJAX.

I've got a simple comment application running on the local Google webapp framework test server, and I'm trying to validate the form w/ Javascript before it gets input to the server and throws an error.
The problem is that the code seems to go through anyway... the Javascript never stops the code from being sent to the server.
I've already checked that Javascript is working on the application, so it must be that my Javascript validation code is bad.
The code is meant to check that the Name field is not empty and that it doesn't have more than 20 characters in it. ("push" is the id for the Submit button, and "name" is the id for the Name input field.)
window.onload = function(){
button = "document.getElementById('push')"
name = "document.getElementById('name')"
button.onsubmit = function Validate(){

The form works good with the default behavior; but I don't get how to code a special errorPlacement for the checkboxes. I used the Milk form demo. For example, I have a required text input that is given focus on page load, I would like for it to throw an error if the user moves to the next field w/o entering any data.
Right now, it only checks for errors on 'submit'.

I'm working under certain constraints wherein,at a certain point outside my direct control,validate is called with no arguments, but after that I want to set a custom validation function on a form field. I figure there's got to be a way to manipulate validate's internal data structure to add the function, but I don't have a clue as to how.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a section of a form containing elements that are not visible, currently just in a hidden div. Some of these elements have validation on them so when the form is submitted it fails on this validation.What I am after is a way to stop the validation firing for any hidden elements. I have tried setting them to 'display: none' and 'visibility: hidden' but this does not have any affect.
