JQuery :: Loading Function After RSS Loads?

I'm currently working on a site where we pull in information from an RSS feed and then use a script to rotate them. The problem that I'm coming up against is if the RSS takes a while to load the script is throwing an error.
The RSS feed is being pumped out as list items so if the li isn't found that's when I receive the error. I thought a while loop maybe the answer to this but I'm unsure about how to implement it. I've attached the function below.

I'm having trouble showing a loading image between loads but only in IE.

When a user clicks the button it references ShowImage() - PreLoad is used when the body loads. This works find in Mozilla browsers, but not IE. How can I get the loading graphic to show in IE?
(ShowImage() loads a dynamically generated image, and there is a brief pause before it is show -- that's why I need the loading graphic). I've tried Google but to no avail.

I have a script i downloaded to add a twitter feed to a page on my site. Everything works perfectly, except there is at least 15-20 seconds until twitter loads, so what the user sees is a blank spot, and if JavaScript is disabled, its obviously a blank space.I wanted to add a placeholder such as an animated gif to that spot, I just don't know how to go about doing that, and how would i have the gif hide when the script functions.

I'm having probs with append(). When the page loads I add a function to certain images:
But after appending a now row, with a similar image, the onclick function on that row doesnt work, seems like it needs to be reinitialized or something.
I tried making a function of:
But when I call that function after appending, the new image is not clickable and the images that were already there, get an extra function on click.

I've ran into a little problem when using resize() function in jQuery as I am trying to call a function after the document loads and later on should window resize occur, but I can't really figure out use jQuery syntax to do the both at the same time within a function.
Here's a example:
$(document).ready(function() {
doScript();
$(window).resize(function doScript() {
// do stuff
});
});
So it is possible to give an instance name to this (resize) function and call it just once after the page loads?

In one of my web page I want to show an image preloader. ie When I clicked on the small thumbnail in my web page then the main large image will load. My code looks something like this

I have a slide show program. First theres stuff to set up the array, and the time between slides Then a function startIt()is defined then a function stopIt()
Then two buttons, Start and Stop, which when pressed call the relevant
functions.
When the page loads, you have to click the Start button to get the
slide show running, but I'd like it to start running straight away
without having to click. I can't for the life of me figure this out.

I have long html/CSS (no CMS or php, etc.) web pages. Some people run away when they see too much content on a page. So I hide the large lower section of the pages and have the user click anchor text to execute simple JS code to change the display from 'none' to 'block' or back to re-hide.

(BTW my research indicates that search engines do not know the difference between display='none' and normal content, or I would not be hiding content in the first place.)

So users can click a link and go directly to that section. Within that link I include

So that works fine within a particular page. But when I want to link to an anchor on another page which is within this hidden content, the browser cannot display the anchor text because it is still hidden.
Is there a way to execute the JS code to change the DOM, changing the display to 'block' on the content of the new page?
I do not see how, because the new page isn't loaded yet, there is no DOM within the browser yet, so how can it be manipulated?
Of course if I was using php I could generate the code with the property set as desired. But for straight up html/CSS/JS pages is this possible?
I get the feeling I am missing something simple here, either a simple solution or the simple fact that this is just an inherent limitation of html.

only first image in the all_images array loads and the rest stays hidden. it works first time i load the page, but any other time it loads only one image. i understand it might have to do with the cache. what could be possible cause for breaking the .each() loop after first iteration? i'm using jquery 1.3.2, png fix and php

My professor asked us to make a webpage that has a user register and login in via a xml document. We can omly use html, javascrip and css.I made a function that loads users from an xml file and authenticates them. It works only on firefox and not IE. I have a bunch of jquery code that animates survey results. It starts by clicking on a css designed 'submit button' (see below). My question is to get the following, which works once the button is submitted, to activate instantly upon page load...for reference, here is what I am working with currently:

Question is: How do I do this without clicking on a button. Rather, have this work, as it does now, by page onload? It'd save me a ton of time and finally let me wrap up a project where the creator parted ways.
I know one might want to ask "Why does it have to activate on onload? Take my word, having a pop up with querystring makes all the difference for reasons I won't get into.

I was having no problems at all testing at home (FF, in private mode to keep cache clear, and error console to check... also Opera and Safari) when I suddenly lost functionality on several jQuery functions, all of them similarly structured. Couldn't find the problem; updated jQuery; stripped the codes back to one particular function; still no clue.
So: now the puzzle isonline.
The calls to load the elements in the page are in the <body> tag.
These capabilities work correctly: resizing, scrolling with arrows, popup from underlined link, dragging. What doesn't work is what should happen when you hover on any of the six-line figures: You should see a number underneath and on click, a change of color, and new text on the left.
Script file: hover is at line 100; the click function at line 78. The calls for the click function are here:
Testing again online, Opera (mac) now functions correctly. So, I think it may be something to do loading. I've put a delay to make sure the elements to be operated on are loaded before the functions which do the operating. Still no dice. It also seems to load really slowly, but that's minor at this point.

I am trying to insert the following call into my page;

It works fine in all browsers except ie(6,7,8) Internet Explorer can not open website. Operation Aborted. I understand it is caused by the jquery autocomplete function loading before the page / DOM has fully loaded. I tried adding Defer="true" to the script however this doesn't seem to work.

It seems like when I load javascript code into a page, that each item I add, such as an accordian vertical navbar, image slider, etc, that each time I add one, the page loads a second or so slower with each one added. I would like some of these features, but is this just a part of life, or are there tricks to avoid the slower load time? It is not major time but after the 2 items I mentioned, it added on about 2 seconds.
I read that $(document).ready(function() might slow me down but I do not see that statement in any of my .js files.

I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.
The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.
After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.

I was just trying to work on some simple stuff and open a random website when clicked on a button. I require the "Random" button to be at the top of the page when the new page opens. I tried using frames to solve the above problem, but when I call the function from within the frame, instead of opening the new webpage within the frame, it goes to that page as it is. The objective is to call that php function. The javascript function is called. I don't know if the element is actually created. Unlike php javascript doesn't put anything in the source for us to verify. I don't have ajax. How can I make the javascript function call create an element that loads the php file and causes the code in that php file to execute.

I have this loading.gif image that is 750px, when it should be 32px. The reason it's huge now is because my original solution was displaying two images: one 750px version of the loading.gif image and one 32px version (in the center of the 750px) of the same image. Now I'm at least down to one image, even if it's the wrong version.Click any of the thumbnail images here, and then again on the thumbnail at the top of that popup product gallery to see what I mean: need that huge loading.gif to be 32px like it should be, and then expand to 750px once the image is loaded. I've tried a bunch of solutions, but nothing has solved the problem.This is the code I have at the moment, although I'm working on the issue now so it may change.
