Showing A Loading Image Between Loads But Only In IE?
Apr 9, 2009
I'm having trouble showing a loading image between loads but only in IE.
Code:
function PreLoad(){
cookie = new Image();
cookie.src = "loading.gif";
[Code]....
When a user clicks the button it references ShowImage() - PreLoad is used when the body loads. This works find in Mozilla browsers, but not IE. How can I get the loading graphic to show in IE?
(ShowImage() loads a dynamically generated image, and there is a brief pause before it is show -- that's why I need the loading graphic). I've tried Google but to no avail.
In one of my web page I want to show an image preloader. ie When I clicked on the small thumbnail in my web page then the main large image will load. My code looks something like this
$("#images li").click(function(){ var image=this.href; $("#mainImage").attr('src',image); });
I want to show the Loading sign until the main image loads completely.
Is there a way to ensure that only the first image in my image slider shows while the page is loading? Currently all of the images appear stacked on the page until the page has finished loading.
I'm trying this Cycle Plugin, but whenever I load, lets say I have 5 images in the rotation pool, they all show up (briefly) whenever the page reloads, and then they dissapear (starting the rotation). Is there any way to avoid this? The images I'm using are 960 x 220, so it pretty much fills the screen before it hides.
I want to have a big image and say 5 small thumbnails underneath. When the user clicks a thumbnail, the image loads where the previous big image was. Is there a standard way to do this?
I'm currently working on a site where we pull in information from an RSS feed and then use a script to rotate them. The problem that I'm coming up against is if the RSS takes a while to load the script is throwing an error.
The RSS feed is being pumped out as list items so if the li isn't found that's when I receive the error. I thought a while loop maybe the answer to this but I'm unsure about how to implement it. I've attached the function below.
I have a script i downloaded to add a twitter feed to a page on my site. Everything works perfectly, except there is at least 15-20 seconds until twitter loads, so what the user sees is a blank spot, and if JavaScript is disabled, its obviously a blank space.I wanted to add a placeholder such as an animated gif to that spot, I just don't know how to go about doing that, and how would i have the gif hide when the script functions.
This is a strange problem, because I have done this about 50 times, but this time it is not working. I want to show a loading gif when a user submits a form.
<form id="uploadForm" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="" method="POST"> <!-- DOM omitted. The form submits just fine. <div id="loadgif"></div>
I have a page with two frames "AlexTop" and "AlexMain" Alex Top contains a SELECT statement which essentially navigates the AlexMain frame to a new url.
What I'd like to do is - WHILE the AlexMain frame is loading the new page, a message should pop-up. (I want to use this for errors encountered in the AlexTop frame.)
The code I have right now which is cauing a BUNCH of problems is: Code:
In my current project, I am using SJAX (i.e. synchronous AJAX) requests instead of pure AJAX requests in several places for better usability. One place is on the "unload" event, where the XMLHttpRequest must be synchronous in order for the program to work.
Anyway, when there is latency on the server, especially in peak traffic hours, it can be confusing to the user to see a frozen page for a couple of seconds while the SJAX request loads. As such, it would be beneficial to have a "loading" div reveal itself while the loading is taking place.
This works as expected in Firefox and Opera, although Opera is a little sluggish at first. However, Safari and Chrome continue to show the frozen screen without displaying the loading div, despite this code. I have not yet tested IE. Oddly enough, when I put a quick alert like "alert('hi there!');" before "Start Request" and after the display activating script, the loading div will appear in WebKit and will remain in sight for the duration of the request.
What could I change to make WebKit display the div in the same way Firefox does?
only first image in the all_images array loads and the rest stays hidden. it works first time i load the page, but any other time it loads only one image. i understand it might have to do with the cache. what could be possible cause for breaking the .each() loop after first iteration? i'm using jquery 1.3.2, png fix and php
I'm working on a chat box. Everything works fine with the chat contents in a separate frame except when it reloads. I'm using the <meta> reload and I don't like how obvious the refresh is. Could someone tell me how I can refresh the frame without having the status bar and tabs showing it loading.
I am trying to incorporate Lightbox2's image gallery script into my site but I'm having difficulty.Here's where I'm accessing the script from: http:[url]....
The image thumbs are showing up but the larger images are not. I changed the 'body onload' html tag to window.onload as I'm using two different javascripts on this page and I don't want them to conflict.I've also added initLightbox() so I don't know what's wrong! Is there just an issue with the images or is there something wrong with the script.
<script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function(){ // use this instead of <body onload …> MM_preloadImages(MM_preloadImages('../3websites/home4.jpg','../3websites/amenities1.jpg','../3websites/inquiry1.jpg','../3websites/rates1.jpg','../3websites/photos1.jpg'); initLightbox()") } </script>
I have this loading.gif image that is 750px, when it should be 32px. The reason it's huge now is because my original solution was displaying two images: one 750px version of the loading.gif image and one 32px version (in the center of the 750px) of the same image. Now I'm at least down to one image, even if it's the wrong version.Click any of the thumbnail images here, and then again on the thumbnail at the top of that popup product gallery to see what I mean: need that huge loading.gif to be 32px like it should be, and then expand to 750px once the image is loaded. I've tried a bunch of solutions, but nothing has solved the problem.This is the code I have at the moment, although I'm working on the issue now so it may change.
$('#inline .thumbGrid img').click(function(){ var strLargeImg = document.getElementById('OBOEsac'); $('.galleryPopup').attr('src','/site/scripts/colorbox/images/loading.gif');
How do I display a message applet is loading when a applet is getting loaded. Without using Mediatracker.I want the message to be provided as PARAM NAME.
I'm trying to add java script to my website so it loads my background image. I followed a tutorial from here, http://thecodecentral.com/2008/02/21...t-image-loader and so I copy and pasted this code into note pad:var loader = new ImageLoader('http://www.website.com/htdocs/image.jpg');
loader.loadEvent = function(url, image){ //actions to perform when the image is loaded //alert(url + ' is loaded');
I am working on a demo for a movie site, and 90% of everything seems cool.[url]...
I am doing php.flushes, .htaccess caching and using PNGs to help with performance. I might start using another sub site to grab all the scripting from to increase performance, but it seems a tad bit slow at the moment.
- There are a few issues one being when you click on X-Men and look at the gallery the images seem to flicker sometimes going from image to image.[code]...
Can I intercept the loading of an image BEFORE it loads? We're looking at using an img tag for inserting stats on our server. Here's what I'm considering.
1) Collect certain information server side, write an img to the document like so (note the URL vars): <img id="statsImg" src="stats.cfm?somevar=someval" width="1" height="1" />
2) Using JS, intercept the load of this image BEFORE it takes place, and add things to the URL vars. This way, if JS is not present, you get the default stuff, but if JS is present, you get extra stuff.
I'm trying to add java script to my website so it loads my background image. I followed a tutorial from here, [url] and so I copy and pasted this code into note pad:
And saved the file as imageloader.js. I didn't put the actual website or image in this post because I don't want it to get referenced when searching my website in google. When I open the page, there is no loader, the image takes a couple seconds to load when you first go to my page like usual. Am I doing something wrong? did I call the file a wrong name? should I reference imageloader.js in the html code of the webpage?
I have created a party-events website. Which displays a lot of dates of events. As you might understand this page takes some time to load. Therefor I want some of loading image to be displayed while the page is loading. Anybody has an idea how to pull this of? I don't know how.
In detail: People come to my website. They click on "events" and a loading.gif pops up and and makes the background darker. After the page has completely loaded the loading image disappears and the website shows.
I would like to use jquery to load 3 images after the page has loaded. I would like to request and load one image at a time. I tried this, but the requests and loads are happening simultaneously.
The page loads with the image angled but wont do the hover which is to change the angle on hover and go back on out <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"><head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>test</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="[URL]"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jQueryRotate.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#image').rotate({angle:5}); }); function myTest(){ $('#image').rotate({angle:25}); }; function myTest2() { $('#image').rotate({angle:5}); }; </script></head><body> <img src="test.jpg" width="300" height="320" border="0" id="image" onMouseOver="myTest()" onMouseOut="myTest2()"> </body></html>
