JQuery :: SlideUp Div Replace - Loads The Content Specified Into A Single Div - Replacing The Content Depending On Which Function Is Called
Nov 22, 2010
I have previously developed two scripts, both of which work really well, however I want to amalgimate them together if possible? My first script loads the content specified into a single div, replacing the content depending on which function is called, it also displays a loading gif during a timeout of 2 seconds. Here is the page:

I am working on a page, which has menus on the left side in one div, that, when clicked should display a proper content on the right side, in another div. Since the content is rather long I have it in a separate file, so I am trying to come up with a function that will replace the right div contect with that external file content. I believe the function i should use looks something like this:
function ReplaceDiv( DivId, NewData )
{
var data_div = document.getElementById( DivId);
if( data_div )
{
data_div.innerHTML = NewData;
}
}
I tried to use this in my page as following: <a href="" onclick="ReplaceDiv(MyDiv, NewDataFile.php )">Menu Item #1</a> But it does not do what I need it to do. The menu link disappears and the right div content stays the same

What I want to do is replace a form with the submitted content. As an example, The form is submitted using the jquery.form plugin. The content is saved to the DB and a rendered comment is passed back to the client, and the success callback then replaces the form with the content. Simple enough. However, if server-side validation fails, I want to render the form, along with validation error messages, and insert that back into the client page, i.e. replace the first form with the second (which also contains the submitted content). Also straightforward, except that, on a truly successful submission, I'll need to do some other things on the page. If validation fails I only need to display the form with errors. I can think of two approaches. One is to search the returned data for some string (e.g., "<form") to decide if the other tasks are to be run.
The other is to send back the data encapsulated in a JSON object, eg:
{
'status': 'FAIL',
'data': '<form ...'
messages: '...'
}

I'm using ColorBox to open a simple popup and it works fine. In the same page I have a link which sends an ajax request which return the entire <body> content that I then use to replace the body of the current page. After I do this replacement, the colorbox does not open anymore. I got no JS errors.
Here is a code which reproduces this behaviour
<html>
<head>
<script src="js/jquery-1.4.3.js"></script>
<script src="js/jquery.colorbox.js"></script>
[Code]....
In the submitAjax() function I simply replace the body of the current page with the same content.

I'm trying to get basic JQuery tabs working, using the example shown on this website.If I put the example code on a page by itself it works exactly as intended. However, as soon as I try and incorporate that same code into my site its behaviour changes. The content for all three tabs appears on the one page and then when the page has finished loaded they then eventually hide.

I need to replace some content in a web page with new content, without leaving the page.
When opening the following page, there are two rectangles, one being small and the one large: [url]
When clicking the small rectangle in above page, the two rectangles will be replaced by the two in following page: [url]
I understand that the two sets of rectangles may need to be coded in one page. I put them in two different ones in order to present my ideas clearly.

I have an ajax based page, which loads content from external page (html +js) So if i have a div "update_div" being updated with external content (html+js)
Let me be more specifig
Step1: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from a.html
Step2: Ajax content along with js loaded into update_div from b.html
What happens to the js loaded from a.html? Is it lurking in the memory or automatically/magically removed from the browser memory? I am afraid of memory leaks, if the js is still lurking in memory, the more ajax calls made, the more js is going to be held up in memory. Unless am totally wrong; i have no idea of the mechanism happening.

I'm just wandering, how can you stop the replace() function from replacing characters inside a word, such as, if I try to replace 'x' with 'and', then my string would go from 'example, x' to 'eandample, and'.

I have an ajax script which loads new content onto the page when the main navigation links is clicked. I also have a jquery script which fades divs in and out when another subset of links are clicked.
I guess these scripts essentially do the same thing but the first basically is loading in 'pages' without the page having to refresh. The second is just fading in and out divs that are on a page.
The problem is is that the second script only seems to work once, when the page is loaded.
Here they are:

I'm trying to write a piece of javascript that will check a single checkbox depending on a dynamically-imported piece of information further up the page. The page will look like this:
[Code]....
The variable which indicates which checkbox should already be checked is in the div 'title' in the p class 'white'. So in the case above, when the page loads the 'Option 1' checkbox should already be checked. The javascript i have, rather poorly, cobbled together so far just doesn't work, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some useful tutorials. All the tutorials I have read so far deal with mass checking all the boxes with a button click.

I am trying to define an "onclick" event to a form button, so that when I click this button, content from another webpage will overwrite this page (not open a new webpage). I've tried the below code (sample) which is not working.
<form action="/script" method="post">
<..other elements../>
<input type="button" name="jump" value="Jump" />
</form>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(':button[name="jump"]').click(function() {
$(document).load('/path/to/another_page.html');
});
</script>
