JQuery :: Holding Up Control Until A FadeOut Finishes?
Apr 13, 2010
I have routine that rolls through the images in an array every iInternalCount seconds, shown below. It first fades out the current image, does the calculation for the next image, assigns the next image to the src attribute of the image slot and then fades in the new image. But after starting the fadeOut of the current image the code continues immediately to the image switch line, so we see a switch to the new image and then the new image fade out. I need a way, probably using the callback function of the fadeOut() method, to keep control from continuing to the image switch line until the current image had finished fading out.
I facinga strange problem. I have developed a active-X control to play video on the top of VLC player in C# It contains a windows panel in which video is displayed Its is placed in a DIV tag , like this :
I have an img#info that I want to fade in when a div#trigger is hovered over. Then I want to be able to move the mouse over to the image and click a hot spot there, without the image disappearing because I moved off of div#trigger.
This works fine as far as fading the image in and out. I tried then adding a hover statement for the img itself, below, but this doesn't work at all. The image is now always on, even though the alerts never fire when I roll on and off the image:
I have an animation set up where if the user clicks a certain anchor the animation plays forward and if they click any other link it plays the animation in reverse. All other links that play the animation in reverse also call a "colorbox" script which opens a colorbox window. What is currently happening is that the colorbox window is opening before the reverse animation completes. I would like the reverse animation to complete first BEFORE the colorbox script runs.s there a way to tell my reverse animation to "wait" before calling any other scripts? The animation and colorbox scripts are completely separate from each other.
I paid a student from the local university to do a basic Wordpress template install [url] for me but the jQuery slider on the front page seems to be hung and never finishes loading. Naturally I can no longer get a hold of the kid and the developer of the template requires a subscription fee for installation support.
It seems like an easy fix but I'm no code sleuth; if I knew what was wrong I'd be comfortable editing the appropriate file(s). Is there an easy way to bring this up in Firebug or something and determine what the problem is?
I am modifying an gallery script called slideSwitch. I want to set the interval value by a variable. For example, If I click button 1 the interval value is 5000 and If I click button 2 - the interval value is 2000 etc. Do I need to pass the value somehow? I My code so far:
I'm building a home page with an update checker. A function, called 500 millisecs after the page loads, appends an external .js file and compares a variable on it to a different internal variable. If the internal variable is lower than the external variable, then the update prompt is displayed.
This all works fine, but the status bar says "Read www.primedesigning.com" (the site with the external js), or sometimes "Transferring from www.primedesigning.com". But, if I hover over any link, the status bar goes back to "Done". Also, if I leave my mouse still, wait for the update prompt to appear, and then move the mouse, the status bar says "Done".
I have the Fasterfox extension installed, and it confirms what the status bar is saying. It never stops loading unless I do 1 of the 2 solutions mentioned above.code...
Is there a way to create a DOM document object to hold the contents of an external html?
I have two pages:
content.html contains some content. index.html would like to access the contents of a particular <div> with an id of "important" within content.html.
how would I do this? I know I can hack around and load the content.html in an iframe embedded in index.html. Then, I can make the iframe not visible....
Can I fire an event in the host page when a contained IFrame finishes loading? The page being loaded can come from anywhere (i.e. other sites), and I need to know how long it takes to load.
I'm working on a small javascript application where I'd like to get one behavior when a user clicks on an image (image swap), but when they simply hold down the mouse button for a second, they get another behavior (drop down menu).
The former seems pretty easy -- just assign the handler for the onClick event to the swapping function. The latter, however, seems more involved.... I know I'd assign the onMouseDown handler to a different function, and then.... after a 1 second or so I'd want to test whether or not the mouse buttom was still being held down. Except that I have no idea how to do that (both the waiting part and the actual test itself).
The idea that does occur to me is to have some kind of data structure associated with the clickable image. I could have functions associated with the onMouseUp and onMouseDown handlers to set a flag.... as soon as onMouseDown is called, it sets the flag to 0, then it waits 1 second, and checks to see if the flag is 0. If onMouseUp has been called, it will have set the flag to 1, and we call the plain old click handler. If the flag is still 0, then I know to do the popup/drowpdown menu.
I'm a little worried about the timing between the different flows of control, though, and I'm also wondering if there's not simply a better way to do it.
While testing my pages in IE and Firefox, I have noticed that when I remove an image from the DOM before it has finished downloading in IE, that the status bar gets stuck at Downloading Picture https://.... Which means the page never finishes loading, I have tested by just making the images style.display = "none" and I no longer get the error, but since this is an AJAX app, that would just leak memory as images would never get deleted when people traverse the web app. Has anyone else experienced this behavior or have a possible solution?
I have done one project in javascript so far and have had no schooling on the topic, however I have learned quite a lot in the last few months from this thing called the 'internet'. So far I managed to make an html image map that has various tooltips which will appear onmouseover, and the tooltip disappears onmouseout. Each point of coords that i have defined has a hyperlink to a different page on the internet. It works just like i wanted it to and i couldn't be happier, that is, when i'm using a mouse...
When i am using a touchscreen device it is a different story. specifically i'm trying to port my html page to android as i figured it would be easy with the android sdk and webview (it was, but read on). What i found when i used the 'app' on my phone was that onmouseover works when you touch the screen, however it also registers as a click, so pop goes the tooltip, and i'm whisked away to my webpage. not the desired result.
Ideally I would like to hold down the screen for 3 seconds and then the hyperlink would activate, but i decided that just getting the thing functional would suffice for the time beaing so i tried to include some 'ondblclick' that would trigger a document.location. This worked fine on a web browser again, but had no result on the touchscreen. I decided to abandon this half step because I have read that ondblclick doesn't work in an image map and it isn't my intended result anyway.
I have found a lot of javascript and jquery samples that emulate the onHold event that i'm trying to achieve, both on this forum and all over the internet, however these samples are overly complex and are focused on looping an action, such as incrementally increasing a value or zooming or whatever. I just want to redirect the user to another page if they trigger 'onmousedown' for 3 seconds.
So I have an HTML page with javascript that takes input values, computes some results, and then puts these results in a table. Works great. Now I realize some users might want to print just the results table. So I add a button that allows the user to request the table in a separate window; clicking the button invokes a script to re-create the table in a separate window. Works fine except:
* In the status bar, the window appears to never finish loading * If you go to File -> Print then nothing seems to happen; however, if you close the generated window _then_ the print dialog appears; the window you want to print, however, is gone.code...
I am doing a Validation for Form "Text input". If the user leaves the input empty, a function is starting to run. If the field is bigger than 1 - so it doesn't get into the function.
The problem is: The first time, the user left the input empty, function ran, and I got the alert - that's OK. Second time, The user added 10 in the AGE input - And again he gets the Alert - But he should not.
Note: Age input value, returns from a different function (calc) to a var called: result.
I wrote a pair of functions to enable scoped or referenced setTimeout calls. I did this because I have an object factory that creates multiple objects and those objects need to delay a few calls on themselves at a certain point in time.
This code works fine for normal objects. However, my issue occurs if at any point, an event object is passed across in IE.
It seems, that events methods and variables in IE are PRIVATE (!) after the initial callstack has been finished.
The following is the code required to view this bug(?) in IE, and success in FF. Code:
Situation:I have a very long page divided into many sections vertical-wise marked by bookmarks, say pageX.html#s1 to s10. I need to show the section inside an iframe (iFrame1) on the mainpage (mainpage.html). I am thinking of having 4 buttons, sitting on the mainpage, to help navigate between these sections on pageX, namely NEXT, PREVIOUS, TOP, END.condition of the frame, fixed width/height, no scroll, no border.Very new to javascript but need this code to make a page work for BIZ.
I'm running into a problem in which I have a nav menu that allows you to click on menu items (about, links, etc) and this makes a corresponding content div fade in and the others fade out. I set all the content divs to initially display: none; which works, but the problem is that when I click on a nav item for the first time since page refresh, all the content pokes through and then fades out, rather than just the one I want fading in. The selected div stays visible, but I want to get rid of this problem!
If I change all my code to use css() instead of trying to change img tags with the attr() function, I need to figure out how fadein and fadeout work. The code I have now doesn't work right. It is supposed to start with 1.jpg showing and then fade that out and show 2.jpg in it's place.
When I leave out the fadein of the new image the first image appears and then fades out like it should but when I add the fadeout function it displays the second image and then fades it out even though it is the inner div with a class instead of the outer div with id which should display the first image.
Small probs at getting started with jquery: i want to have boxes called "employ-big", wich appear on hover "employ" and dissapear on mouseleave. And i tried the following, with one small prob - the removeClass-call comes to early:
This is the HTML incl. jquery and css:
The problem is, that the employ-big-DIV changes the z-index direcly after mouseleave wich is not very nice. Is it possible to removeClass after fadeOut is finished? And is the way i tried to show my divs the right and elegant way in jquery? I tried it also with hover, but didn't work well, so i decided this way!
Suggestions about my removeClass-probs? The main prob is, when there is a second row of Divs "employ", the shown employ-big falls back to early to z-index:1 wich doesn't look nice...
The Idea is to get something similar like the product-categories on [url]
I can't seem to get this to work. I want to be able to fade div out if inactive or if a user clicks outside the div.,..Here is the script using jquery 1.3.1
I'm new to jQuery..so maybe a newbe question. I'm working on a search result dropdownbox. So user enters text in textfield->ajax gets results->displays it in box under textbox. i use folowing code to remove resultbox when user clicks somewhere on page.
[Code]...
This is all working fine, But now i added next page in the result box. As soon as this is clicked , the resultbox is fadeout..because of above code. Can i make it fadeout on a click anywhere except in the textbox or result box ??
