JQuery :: Make An Image Selection, Display Same Image On Page In Unique Id And Save To Hidden Input All In One Click?
May 11, 2010Using a UI dialog I'd like to load in 10 or so images. Each would be unique and after you click on one the following needs to happen:
1. Image appears on the parent page in a specified ID.
2. A "hidden" field is updated so that when the user submits the db is updated with their selection.
3. Dialog closes automatically.
That's it. Basically it would work similar to "datepicker".I'm using the latest 1.4 and ui and been making great progress as learning basics. I need to do the above and it seems like such a no brainier and or it should already exist but after 2 days of searching and trial and error...

I have two fields; zip and city, I validate zip with remote and it checks against a list if the zip is valid, but i want it too:
Check if the zip is valid
Return true if it is valid and return the city of the zip and paste it in the city-input...
Of course I have a database/array/list with all zip and city's.

Jul 12, 2009I've been trying to make my very ajaxy site more SEO friendly, lots of the returned actions from ajax can be retrieved as a full page, so it's just a matter of exposing the links. Up until now I've had 'span' tags which I have now changed to 'a href' so that the search engines will follow them. I've added the following code so that if the event should send an ajax request, it does that, or if it should go get the full page, it does that.

Aug 1, 2009I am currently trying to get an action on the click of a link, and not make it follow the link, just carry everything out in jQuery. Now, if the AJAX request isn't there, it will work as supposed too, but with the AJAX request, it will follow the link, not taking any notice for the return false.

The jPrompt call includes a callback which receives the entered value as a parameter. The callback uses the value to 'post' the updated value, via $.ajax, to a server side unction.After OK is clicked in the jPrompt popup, in Firebug, I get an error that the dataDetails is undefined and it lists the line number in the click handler where I originally read the data object from the <li> element.I don't really understand why it should care after the click event has fired and the jPrompt callback has been invoked

However, the 'return false' does nothing. If I click a link the event is not stopped and the page it points to is loaded!
So, what could I do, given the above code, to stop the click event ?

Jan 19, 2006I have a bunch of input fields, each which will have a numerical value. There can be any number of input fields in the form, and that number will vary depending on what the user has selected prior in the application.
So basically I created a loop that goes though all of the INPUT fields within the form. How can I have it find the value of each field and add them all together, then return to me the total? It'll need to be made into a variable, but a simple alert with the total value will give me enough to work with.
Return Focus To Input Text Box
Oct 17, 2011I have an input (type="text") with some default text telling the user to enter something in the box. The input tag includes an onmousedown event which runs javascript function to clear the default text so the user can start entering their own text.This setup behaves in two possible ways, one is good and one is bad:
Good: If the user clicks inside the text box, but after the default text, the text gets cleared and the cursor shows up at the beginning of the text box.
Bad: If the user clicks inside the text box, but directly on the default text, the text gets cleared, but the cursor is not displayed and the text box does not have the focus. In order to start typing, the user must click on the text box again.
So my question is: If the cursor is inside a string of text which gets cleared, is there a way to reinstate the cursor and the text box focus?

Jul 23, 2010I'm developing am income tax calculator, and everything is going swell. Currently the user can type in their adjusted gross income (AGI), hit submit, and learn the amount of income tax they would pay, their tax rate, and their income after tax.
I've played around with the events to get the submit button to work in FF, IE, Chrome and Safari -- and I've gotten the enter button to work before with some stock code, but here's the catch: when the user presses enter, i want the focus to leave the input box. I don't care where it goes (submit button, I suppose?) but i need it to leave the input field so the onfocus="clearText(this);" event can fire when they return to type in a new income.

From a professional looking site point of view I suppose I would be messing with the functionality a bit too much, OR is it OK in this instance to disable the click. I know how to write the code to disable the click, but what I was thinking was maybe it would be better to leave the right click but change the menu options? Alternative To Document.write To Replace Image On Page - Click Event That Replaces An Image On Page With New Image
Aug 29, 2010Im trying to have a click event that replaces an image on the page with a new image that has been selected randomly from an array. I have solved PART of this already (can get the random image to appear).
However, instead of appearing on the page where the old image was, the new image appears in a blank page.
My research indicates that this blank page location-problem is a result of using document.write in the Function. Therefore, I know I need to find a different way to accomplish this, but am failing miserably.
I have been trying for hours and hours and HOURS to figure out proper syntax for accomplishing this via elements, functions, variables and mootools.
