Use Return Key To Fire Onsubmit And Focus Outside Form <input> Field?

Jul 23, 2010

I'm developing am income tax calculator, and everything is going swell. Currently the user can type in their adjusted gross income (AGI), hit submit, and learn the amount of income tax they would pay, their tax rate, and their income after tax.

I've played around with the events to get the submit button to work in FF, IE, Chrome and Safari -- and I've gotten the enter button to work before with some stock code, but here's the catch: when the user presses enter, i want the focus to leave the input box. I don't care where it goes (submit button, I suppose?) but i need it to leave the input field so the onfocus="clearText(this);" event can fire when they return to type in a new income.

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function TotalGrossPerYear() {
var Calc = document.NetIncome;
if (Calc.InputRad[0].checked) {

Resolved Adding / Removing And Incorporate A Way For A Limit On The Number Of Fields

Mar 8, 2011

I'm trying to get my script below working. I've managed to get it to add fields dynamically but the remove function isn't right... and I can't think of a way round it. how can i incorporate a way for a limit on the number of fields that can be added?

<script type="text/javascript">
function addInput()
{
var x = document.getElementById("inputs");
x.innerHTML += "<input type="text" />";
}
function removeInput()
{
[Code].....

ah, i've just looked into the operators in more details and -= is just for numbers... so this won't work. i presume this is going to be the wrong method then.

Creating A Form That Will Change The Number Of Fields Based On User Input

Jan 4, 2006

I have a form that collects information about up to 5 items. I would
like the user to be able to select from a drop down menu how many items
for which they want to compare information, and then have the form
change the number of input fields accordingly.

In other words, if the user selects enter info for 3 items, then input
fields for only 3 items are shown, if they change it to 4 items, then a
fourth column shows up in the table with the appropriate input fields.

Return Says NaN (Not A Number)?

Aug 1, 2009

i am using ajax but this is the problem in js it is giving me a NaN when i goto check the output. on two different servers two different responses on my localhost test environment i am getting the correct info and on the server online i get NaN response. i am using this to set the width of my hp bar

Code:
document.getElementById("ehpBar").style.width=count1+"%";
and count1 looks like this
Code:
var count1 = hp/basehp*100;

i have tried rounding it and everything and i just get the same stupid NaN error. I can use each variable by itself and it outputs the correct number on both servers and then when i try to divide it NaN on one server and works perfectly on the other. I know it is probably something simple i am just missing it.

Return Sum Of All Input Values Within Loop

Jan 19, 2006

I have a bunch of input fields, each which will have a numerical value. There can be any number of input fields in the form, and that number will vary depending on what the user has selected prior in the application.

So basically I created a loop that goes though all of the INPUT fields within the form. How can I have it find the value of each field and add them all together, then return to me the total? It'll need to be made into a variable, but a simple alert with the total value will give me enough to work with.

Return Focus To Input Text Box

Oct 17, 2011

I have an input (type="text") with some default text telling the user to enter something in the box. The input tag includes an onmousedown event which runs javascript function to clear the default text so the user can start entering their own text.This setup behaves in two possible ways, one is good and one is bad:

Good: If the user clicks inside the text box, but after the default text, the text gets cleared and the cursor shows up at the beginning of the text box.

Bad: If the user clicks inside the text box, but directly on the default text, the text gets cleared, but the cursor is not displayed and the text box does not have the focus. In order to start typing, the user must click on the text box again.

So my question is: If the cursor is inside a string of text which gets cleared, is there a way to reinstate the cursor and the text box focus?

Retrieve Result From Form.Submit Function

Aug 5, 2009

I create a form dynamically with Java Script depending on certain actions a user choose. The end result is a form asking the user to confirm sending one or more SMS message via a message gateway outside of my system. Confirmation will then trigger a funtion with one or more statements like this:
[CODE]
document.frmSMS.action ="[URL] user=User&password=Password&sender=Sender&SMSText=Friendly Reminder from Joe Bloggs Pty Ltd: You have an outstanding amount of R 4,534.00 that is 135 days ovedue. Please settle to as soon possible.&IsFlash=0&GSM=27826555959";
document.frmSMS.submit();
[ICODE]
The target site then responds with either an error code (i.e. -10) or a reference number. The question is - How do I retrieve the error code?

Rounding ...

Nov 9, 2003

I have to round a fractional value from a form input to either 0, 25, 50 or 75. I have succesfully tested the value and stripped the decimal place. If the value is for example .1, I round it to 0. If the value is say .2, I round it to .25. My problem is that when the value is > .75, my function is returning undefined. For the sake of brevity I will include only the relevant code.

var increments = new Array(0,25,50,75);

CharBefore = parseFloat(CharBefore); //the whole number
CharAfter = parseFloat(CharAfter); //the decimal

var x = parseFloat(increments.length - 1) ;

for ( i = 0; i <= x ; i++ ) {

var testValue = parseFloat(increments[i]);
if (CharAfter > testValue) { continue ; }
else {
var lowerValue = parseFloat(increments[i-1]);
if ((CharAfter > testValue) && (i==x)) {

median = (testValue + 100)/2 ;
if (CharAfter >= median) {
CharAfter = Ɔ'
CharBefore++;} //round up to next whole number
else { CharAfter = testValue; }

}
else {
median = (testValue + lowerValue)/2 ;
if (CharAfter >= median) { CharAfter = testValue; }
else { CharAfter = lowerValue; }

}
return CharBefore + '.' + CharAfter;
break;

}

} // End for loop

Jquery :: Retrieve Value Of Html Form Drop Down Menu?

Apr 9, 2009

I'm trying to accomplish something unique that I am not finding any examples for in web searches.I have a webpage with arrow pictures that I will set up with a clickable link that will send http arguments to a php script.I need to grab the selected value in one of the drop down menus on that same page and send that as one of the html arguments when clicking on one of the arrow buttons.

Right now those drop down lists are just html form controls, would this all work together better if they were instead javascript drop down menus? I really want to build this page the best way for it to be built and I'm not afraid to make changes if there is a better way than what I'm using now.
