OnSubmit After Checking Return False And Still Submit

Jan 16, 2008

I am building a registration form and have some javascript that checks the forms user input. This is all activated when the submit button is pressed and the forms onSubmit event is called and runs a function.

I have tested me functions and even when it returns false the form still submits?

Im not sure how i can stop it submiting even if it returns false.

Then onSubmit called this function:

function subForm(theform){
if(checkForm(theform)==false){
alert("it is false");
return false;
}
alert("it is true");
return true;
}

checkForm is working and is throwing alerts when certain criteria is not correct in the form, and then i will get an alert "it is false" so i know that the script is running until then, but the form will still submit?

JQuery :: Submit And Reloading Form Values After Submit Button Is Clicked?

Jul 13, 2011

In the following .submit function, I am attempting to grab the value of the selected option in the facilityCodes dropdown list when I click the submit button and then during the submit function,select the facilityCode again in the dropdown list when the page reloads and then disable the list so that the user cannot change it.However,the situation is when I reload the page after the submit button is clicked the dropdown defaults to the first option and the list is enabled.I apparently am not understanding how.submit works so that I'm selecting the option I'm defining in my code below and then disabling the list AFTER the page reloads due to an error on the page. My question is how can I accomplish this?Here is my code:

JQuery :: Disable Submit Button On Form Submit?

Jan 31, 2008

I have a page with many forms that I need to change from a post to an ajax call. That part is working, no problem, but now I want to disable the submit button while it's waiting on the server response and then re-enable it when the response comes back.

Here's what I have:

$(function() {
$('form').each(function() {
$(this).submit(function(){

[code]...

I can't figure out what my selector should be to get the submit button of the form that's being submitted. What should I be using instead? Also, if the call errors out, I'd like to just post the form as usual.

Form Checking

Apr 1, 2005

I'm building a site that requires user registration, I've already built myself a PHP based user registrationg system, and it already has all the usual checks that are required before letting someone sign up (i.e. that the username is unique, that all required fields are filled, that the two passwords match, that the email address is valid, etc..) using PHP, and so I could ship the system as it is.. but.. I wanted to add some JavaScript checks to it aswell (just to be sure, and to save processor power, etc.. you know how it is). Code:

Checking Select Option Value Without Form Submital

Feb 5, 2006

I am allowing a user to selected a date to schedule an event and it
seems like the best way to do this is with drop down menus for Year,
month, date. However I would like to make it so when you choose a year
and a month the appropriate days for that month show (i.e. 28 days if
you chose February 2006). I can easily do this with a loop if I can
find out what month the user has selected, but I can't seem to find a
way to get that value. Is there a simple javascript solution to this
problem?

JQuery :: Malsup's Form Plugin - Submit Only PART Of A Form?

Aug 24, 2010

Malsup's most excellent and comprehensive Form plugin has me completely stuck on just one thing.Take a look at this: http:[url]....At the bottom are a variety of submit buttons, and when you click one, it knows which one has been clicked.And I've been through the js and the source and the examples and I can't figure out how the bleep it's done!I'll tell you why I'm asking, then perhaps you can probably tell me I'm doing it wrong anyway!Let's say a blind person logs in, and want to edit their presets.I don't want the form to be too complex or clever or ajaxy, as screenreaders don't like that, so it just iterates through as many presets as they have, and populates a form with edit boxes.But there's no point "pushing back" 29 unchanged items just to edit one row.

So my idea was I'd just "fieldSerialize()" the details of the row that was currently being edited and submit that to my little php routine that updates the db. Then they can do a refresh just to hear the list again.The js looks like:

$(document).ready(function() {
$('#myForm').ajaxForm(function() {
var queryString = $('#myForm').formSerialize(); [code]....

All works fine like that. But if I change line 3 to: var queryString = $('#myForm :button').fieldSerialize(); it doesn't work. I've also tried:

'#myForm :button'
'#myForm .button'
':button'[code]....

Maybe I should just generate as many separate forms as there are presets, but then I'm going to need as many ready(function)'s as there are rows, which is going to be very messy.

Contact Form - Error Checking Not Working On Site

Nov 15, 2010

I made a contact form for my website originally in PHP. I wanted to change it to JavaScript because that is the preferred way. Originally I had the form in my HTML file using a separate PHP file for error checking. For JavaScript do I have to make a separate page and call to it like the last time? I have put it all on my HTML page and where it was calling for the php page, I also put the JavaScript code. When I go to my site, the error checking is not working at all. There must be something wrong, but I haven't been able to point it out and I am very new to JavaScript. Javascript Submit Problem : Form Won't Submit

Jul 23, 2005

So, here's my problem :

I've created a table in my document, presenting a list of items, one
can 'select' by clicking on it... (Kinda like a menu, you make your
choice from) But since this table can get very long, I've put
something of a 'search-form' on top, which enables the user to make a
selection of products from the list.

Now, the form uses a "post" method, and submits to itself, using the
form action. Some PHP script will make sure that the form is filled
out already, the next time it's presented.

The table, containing a list of products is presented, below the form.
When a user clicks on a product, the product should be "selected". At
first i just used a <a href="zoeken.php?prod_id=24"> link to do this,
but the problem is that my form won't remain in tact.

So now, the global idea is to submit the form after setting a hidden
form-field using JavaScript, using a onClick event.

Here's my code :
