I'm using jQuery Validation on my form with ajax submit, but for some reason the label error message is replacing my input field completely. I can't figure it out for the life of me... Here's my html/js. I'm using the default validation since i'm using the ajax submit. I've also tried the custom error's with no luck. Both the label.error and input are displayed as blocks.

When you click on a div on the page, the contents of the div are copied out, an input field with type = text is placed inside the div, then the previous contents of the div are placed inside the input field. When you click on the div again, the contents of the input field are copied out, the input field is removed, and the previous contents from the input field are copied back into the div.Essentially, it's meant to allow you to edit the contents of the div. The code that I have works flawlessly in Firefox and Chrome, but when I try it in IE 8, the second click simply removes the contents of the input field and leaves the input field in place. It is removing the node's value rather than removing the node.Here are my javascript functions:
Code:
function editField(strID, strField, strTable)
{
[code]....

I have an email which has some values attached to a link in the email that get passed to an online form on a website when clicked. Problem is the value is a price and the string includes a "$" which I need to remove. I've read through many examples and everyone seems to have an opinion (surprise). One suggests something like this: text2.value=text1.value.replace(/$/g,""); While someone else says its better to remove what you don't want. I am also scratching my head over should I place the value into a hidden field, scrub it then copy that into the proper field? and I imagine the best way would be to run it with an "onload" command instead or a event handler like a keystroke since the field is not typed?

I've been learning a lot about jscript and PHP while I've been building my site...now I'm curious about using a little ajax. I have an internal email setup on my site where users can contact one-another...when you click on Inbox, Sent, Drafts, ect it calls a php script and reloads the page. I'm considering for my next release, doing this with jscript but my question is this...
When I print info to the page that I'm on, how hard is it to get rid of the old data that was there? This might be the easiest thing in the world but i don't even know what to call this on google. Also, if that's the norm, how hard is it to add data to a page with out getting rid of whats already there? I've been reading about ajax and I've been using jscripts to check my forms and do simple things but I'm really interested in learning what I really have the power to do here...

I've got a form in which the fields are being dynamically generated based upon a db query.. it looks something like this:
Code:
<form name="bft">
<input name="colA_1"> <input name="colB_1" onBlur="loadXMLDoc(this.value,'colC_1');"><input name="colC_1">
[code]...
I'm trying to use AJaX to populate the third input in the same row as the second input based upon a separate db query. Here's the code for that:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function loadXMLDoc(v,n) {
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
[code]...
Here's where it displays on the page<cfoutput>#trim(getITRRSP.[columnName])#</cfoutput>
Whenever the focus blurs from those inputs, the third column in that row is populated with "UNKNOWN" as the value. I have confirmed that the getITRRSP.cfm file is properly retrieving and displaying the data from the db query.

I am trying to get two values from a web service response.
The web service was called using jquery $ajax:
$.ajax({
url : "http://localhost:3032/ufs/integration/copymoveTerm",
type : "POST",
dataType : "xml",
[Code]....
All I want to do is to get the values of UNDO_COUNT and MSG into separate variables.
Here is the jquery I am trying to use:
function undoSuccess(xmlData, status, xmlResponse)
{
$(xmlResponse).find('res:OUTPUT').each(function () {
var undoCount = $(this).attr('res:UNDO_COUNT).text();
var msg = $(this).attr('res:MSG).text();
});
}
I have tried it with and without the name space "res:". I have tried it with xmlData and with xmlResponse I have tried changing the web service so that UNDO_COUNT and MSG were elements in their own right or were attributes of OUTPUT all without success it just bypasses the initial find on OUTPUT.

I guess the title says it all. I've generated two checkboxes and two textareas via an ajax requst. When I later on call anoter function I want to get the valus from the textareas and to know if weather the checkboxes are checked or not. But that seem impossible to be as you seem not to be able to select an element generated after the page load, or am I wrong ?

Given input form elements on the display during page load, what is the proper way to replace the input elements when an Ajax call replaces the html? Here is a simple list of radio buttons:
[Code]...
I highlighted line 19 as that was the line I needed to add in order for the "shop" object to get the new input elements. Otherwise it was accumulating them. Can anybody explain the details of what was happening here and also confirm that the resolution is ? Is there a better way?

I have troubles with a simple jQuery.ajax-request which looks like this:
jQuery.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "[URL]",
//url: "[URL]",
data: "",
success: function(data, status) {
$('body').html(data);
},
dataType: "json"
});
I test this with two different url's:
[URL]
[URL]
The first url works and I get json-data in the data-object. The second url gives a "parseerror", and I can't figure out why. As far as I can see (and using a json-validator) the second url returns valid json, so what's wrong?

I've got such code:
var tmp = $('#someform').find('input').serialize();
And it works almost fine. If we have fields like:
<input type="text" value="some words" />
Serialization seems to behave a bit weird. In general it's serializing spaces into + which later cannot be (or I have no idea how) deserialized correctly. If you want proof of concept go under this link: [URL] If this question is so obvious that was asked and answered bilions of times I recommend to add special notice into documentation. I googled a lot and I have seen very complex examples of how serialization works or is not working at all but nowhere was an example with value with two words in it.

I want to grab images from the database and then display them in a row going downwards. I be using position absolute in css. I want to put them in a row going downwards but having the exact space inbetween each image. Currently I made a row of images going downwards but the space inbetween keeps on increasing when more and more images are needed to be displayed.
[Code]...
Yet the space inbetween images increases the space when there is more and more images displayed.
The first 3 are always have the right space inbetween them. The 4th and so on adds 10px of space more for each image that is displayed but it's gradually. For instance image 4 would be you would take 70 which is image 3 top value and instead of adding 30 the code would add 40 to it. it increases the spaces by 10 for every image past the 3rd image. Yet the firebug will show the top values as if each image has a difference of 30 for the top value.
I was thinking can't I use position X and Y like with jquery or javascript can't I get the current x and y values of image one or 2 and then decrease the X and Y in a way that the spaceing inbetween each image is exactly the same. In our example I want to have like a 30px space inbetween the images and never increase the space as more images are displayed.

I'm using Tablesorter since few months and it was working very well.I did a small change yesterday in my php code: numbers over 1000 are nowformatted like this: 1 000, 1 000 000 instead of 1000 or 1000000.Since I did this change Tablesorter seems to have problems sorting this kindof formatted numbers with spaces. It just doesn't sort the way it should

so, the pseudo code: - on change of input contents, check to see if two input fields are set - if set, update a third field with "loading..." text and a loading gif - use ajax to send data to a url, and get a calculated json response - update the third field with the calculated response
I know I'm getting the correct response, according to firebug: {"pace":"10:00"}
the code:
$('#run_distance').change(function() {
if ($(this).val() != '' && $('#run_time').val() != '')
{
$('#run_pace').val('Calculating Paceā¦');

how to update the #run_pace input field with the json response.

I have a line of code:
var cdate=dayarray[day]+", "+montharray[month]+" "+daym+" "+year+" "+hours+":"+minutes+":"+seconds+" "+dn+""
What I require is a bigger space here:
var cdate=dayarray[day]+", "+montharray[month]+" "+daym+" "+year+" "+" "+" "+hours+":"+minutes+":"+seconds+" "+dn+""
I tried +"xxx"+ (where the xs are three spaces) but that didn't work either.

I have a form, and that has many fields, upon submit, it utilizes AJAX (PHP script) to store the data in the database and if the readyState is 4, (as a result of the PHP process) it shows the results on the same screen.
Now, I want to put a CONFIRMATION box, in the process, like I want the script to take input, and once the user hit submit, the php process begins, and if there is a duplicate entry it will show the message to the user like:
"Record exist"
[Overwrite] [Make New] [Cancel]
the next, AJAX will continue based on the user input.
how to do this ? Should I have to make 2 Ajax Calls ? one to check for Duplicate and then one to get the input and process further ?

the title says it: is it ok to pass strings with spaces trough url? i tried it and it seems to work, but it also seems to me that more correct way to do it is to use '+' instead of space since that's what php get method does. i'm using window.location to redirect to another page.
