Removing Input Field Node In IE?
Feb 16, 2011
When you click on a div on the page, the contents of the div are copied out, an input field with type = text is placed inside the div, then the previous contents of the div are placed inside the input field. When you click on the div again, the contents of the input field are copied out, the input field is removed, and the previous contents from the input field are copied back into the div.Essentially, it's meant to allow you to edit the contents of the div. The code that I have works flawlessly in Firefox and Chrome, but when I try it in IE 8, the second click simply removes the contents of the input field and leaves the input field in place. It is removing the node's value rather than removing the node.Here are my javascript functions:
Code:
function editField(strID, strField, strTable)
{
[code]....

I have an email which has some values attached to a link in the email that get passed to an online form on a website when clicked. Problem is the value is a price and the string includes a "$" which I need to remove. I've read through many examples and everyone seems to have an opinion (surprise). One suggests something like this: text2.value=text1.value.replace(/$/g,""); While someone else says its better to remove what you don't want. I am also scratching my head over should I place the value into a hidden field, scrub it then copy that into the proper field? and I imagine the best way would be to run it with an "onload" command instead or a event handler like a keystroke since the field is not typed?

I am having a form with two input fields. I want to enter some text in the first input field and then the second field should get the same text. Is there a simple way (maybe a plugin) to do this with jQuery? It would be perfect if I even could output all these input fields values as normal text in <p> or <li> tags.

I'm submitting a form when the value of a drop-down menu changes. After that I would like to remove the focus from the field itself. I have tried different things: blur, focus=remove and so on but no one works. How can I remove the focus for a field?

I am looking to collect email addresses with my site. On my input elements, when the user clicks on it, I want to change the value attribute to blank (make the "your e-mail" disappear when the user clicks on the input element). Is JavaScript used for this?

I have just got myself a copy of SWFUpload to show the progress of file uploads, however, it has a few problems, one of which I am trying to fix with the aid of jQuery. Essentially, if JavaScript doesn't load, then a standard input file element will be shown. But, if JavaScript is enabled, then jQuery removes this, and replaces it with all of the input elements that SWFUpload requires. Is this the best way of doing it, or should I be looking at another option? If so, how would I go about telling jQuery to remove and insert the form field, and each and every attribute the HTML will require?

I'm using jQuery Validation on my form with ajax submit, but for some reason the label error message is replacing my input field completely. I can't figure it out for the life of me... Here's my html/js. I'm using the default validation since i'm using the ajax submit. I've also tried the custom error's with no luck. Both the label.error and input are displayed as blocks.

I'm using jsTree-0.9.9a. As a test this is the code i'm using to display the ID
oncreate: function(NODE, REF_NODE, TYPE, TREE_OBJ, RB)
{
if (TYPE === "inside") {
parent_id = $(REF_NODE).attr('id');
alert(parent_id)
}}
This works fine when the parent has no child nodes, however, when a child node exists nothing is returned.

So I have to ask some stupid questions and make sure that there is not something wrong in this simple syntax. I am trying to get input field attributes type and tagname by field ID. Heres the code..
Code JavaScript:
var type = $('#' + input_id).attr('type');
var tag = $('#' + input_id).attr('tagName');
When I look in firebug I see there is the correct ID in input_id variable and that the input field with that id exists. But for tag and type variables I just get 'undefined' for reason unknown.. syntax is correct or?

I'm trying to replicate a feature found in hotmail, facebook, etc. When you type or select a recipient from an auto-suggest box for your message/email that recipient's name is put into the "To" field box and is encased (usually a blue rounded corner box) with a X to the far right. If the "X" is clicked the recipient is removed.
How can do you put the selected recipient into the encasing and insert it in the "To" field box? If there are multiple recipients how are they differentiated? For example, if there were a ";" between the recipients the semi-colon would separate the values.

I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.
Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="hidden" name="on1" value="Size" maxlength="200">Size</td>
[code].....
I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.

I've written the following function who works great in IE
function OnlyCharacter(tekst)
{
if (tekst.length == 1)
{
if (tekst >= "A" && tekst <="Z")
{return true}
}
window.alert ("Only uppercase");
form1.Sectie.focus();
}
But in Netscape or Mozilla I can't bring back the focus on the field
(Sectie) when the input is not correct
I've tried the following :
1) var box;
box = document.forms[0].elements[1];
box.focus()
2)document.getElementById("Sectie").focus();
3) document.form1.Sectie.focus()
but nothing seems to work.
How must I do that in Netscape and/or Mozilla?

how to write this code out correctly.

My HTML structure is as follows for a better understanding (there's more than one .overlay div, so assume this is duplicated several times):
<div class="overlay">
<form>
<input value="value" name="content" />
<input type="submit" value="submit">
