I am looking to collect email addresses with my site. On my input elements, when the user clicks on it, I want to change the value attribute to blank (make the "your e-mail" disappear when the user clicks on the input element). Is JavaScript used for this?
View 24 RepliesI have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right

I'm submitting a form when the value of a drop-down menu changes. After that I would like to remove the focus from the field itself. I have tried different things: blur, focus=remove and so on but no one works. How can I remove the focus for a field?

When you click on the div again, the contents of the input field are copied out, the input field is removed, and the previous contents from the input field are copied back into the div.Essentially, it's meant to allow you to edit the contents of the div. The code that I have works flawlessly in Firefox and Chrome, but when I try it in IE 8, the second click simply removes the contents of the input field and leaves the input field in place. I have just got myself a copy of SWFUpload to show the progress of file uploads, however, it has a few problems, one of which I am trying to fix with the aid of jQuery. Essentially, if JavaScript doesn't load, then a standard input file element will be shown. But, if JavaScript is enabled, then jQuery removes this, and replaces it with all of the input elements that SWFUpload requires. Is this the best way of doing it, or should I be looking at another option? If so, how would I go about telling jQuery to remove and insert the form field, and each and every attribute the HTML will require?

Problem is the value is a price and the string includes a "$" which I need to remove. I've read through many examples and everyone seems to have an opinion (surprise). One suggests something like this: text2.value=text1.value.replace(/$/g,""); While someone else says its better to remove what you don't want. I am also scratching my head over should I place the value into a hidden field, scrub it then copy that into the proper field? and I imagine the best way would be to run it with an "onload" command instead or a event handler like a keystroke since the field is not typed?

I have the following radio boxes. A total of five in all. I'm trying to get a scale from 5 to 1 where the user agrees or disagrees a question. However, the client is looking for a scale from Agrees to Disagrees. This is a drupal site and I am using a module for my survey that generates the survey. There isn't an option of leaving out the label. I was hoping to use JQuery to change the displayed text from a '4' to ''.

I have been banging my head against the wall for a long time and I am not that familiar with JQuery to solve this problem on my own.
I have a dropdownbox with values. When the user selects a value and presses the button [add], this value is added to the textareabox. Now I like to create a function that will remove the selected value from the same dropdownbox from the textareabox when the user presses a button [remove]. Currently I check if the textareabox is empty and set the value from the dropdown to the textareabox. If it is not empty, it will add the value + a linebreak ( )

I have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything.To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.

how to do what i wanted. I've got a .pdf file with a bunch of text fields, i would like it to make it so that when the user has focus (is writing in or clicked it) on of the fields it shows a different field with information on how to fill out that field and which field to procede to.
