Sep 30, 2011I've been trying to find a good JavaScript code that I can use to make the text in my User Name and Password Input Boxes disappear. Does anyone know where I can get a good code for that?

View 1 RepliesHow can I create a text input field which has a value displayed by default and when a use clicks in the filed, it disappears? Similar to a "search..." box - when a use goes to search, the "search..." text disappears.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically i need help with input fields that when clicked the text (value) disappears but if the user has not entered anything in it would revert back to what was originally there.I have managed to get the value inside to disappear once clicked without the use of javascript but would love someone to point me in the right direction of how to revert the original value back if nothing was entered in if the user did click inside as the field continues to be blank.

What I do is looking for some code on the internet and try to understand to let it fit my needs.What I'm trying to do now is to let the default value of an input disappear onclick. It works fine except the default value of the password input are bullets instead of 'password'. Only when people give their password, it has to be bullets.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a page on which I have 2 dropdowns. Both are similar. I have a piece of code that whill make a textbox appear if we select "list Box" as the option in the drop down. But for some reason, the first dropdown works fine, but for the second dropdown, the textbox is always there on page load. The code that I am presenting can be copied as a HTML page and you will know what I am referring to.
<html>
<script type="text/javascript">
function showfield(name){
if(name=='lstbox')document.getElementById('div1').style.display="block";
else document.getElementById('div1').style.display="none";

I'd like the text in the search box to disappear when the box is clicked in. Easy, right? I've found several how-to pieces online, and gotten it to work with at least two different methods. However, I found a rather snotty discussion of form semantics that made me wonder: what's the right way to accomplish this, can I tighten up this code to be clean and tidy, and most importantly, can someone explain it to me so I can understand it? Forms tend to leave me confrazzled.

I have a Javascript function that allows the display of a textbox upon selecting an option from a dropdown menu. In my case when a user selects listbox as the option, the text box appears. I want the same thing to happen when another option (checkbox) is selected. when I repeat the JAVAscript code, the first textbox(listbox's textbox) appears irrespective of which option(listbox, checkbox) I select. I want to be able to appear/disappear only the respective textbox. Here is my code.
<html>
<script type="text/javascript" >
function showfield(name){
if(name=='lstbox')document.getElementById('div1').style.display="block";
else document.getElementById('div1').style.display="none";
}
function hidefield() {

I am working on an MLA citation PHP script for books, and I already finished that part. I have the page set up so that the user may add as many authors as needed. However, when I use the back button, I notice that if I have more than one author, the dynamic text fields are gone and all data after the dynamic text fields are not loaded back into the proper fields.I've spent the entire day searching for solutions, and I tried saving the code to a textarea, then using that code to insert it back into the page on loading. However, I couldn't get it to work.[code]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.
Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="hidden" name="on1" value="Size" maxlength="200">Size</td>

I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.
I have taken a class on PHP and started making some math homework and drills for the tutoring I do. I have asked my kids for feedback and they are telling me that it is inconvenient to hit tab to go to the next text box (They have small arms/fingers..)I then thought of a brilliant ideaLets say it was 12 divided by 3. If they wrote a 4 in the input area, the JavaScript would recognize the correct answer and automatically move to the next box. However, if they wrote a 3 in the box, the JavaScript wouldn't move over.This kills two birds with one stone. The inconvenience of hitting tab or clicking on the next box disappears, and they are forced to put in the correct answer.Ironically, I have learned PHP and skipped over JavaScript. Which code would I use to do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs recently as 1.4.3 $('input:text') would find input elements with no type attribute, but after upgrading to 1.5.1 that is no longer the case.
Is this a bug or an intended refactor to be more standards compliant?
FYI - this is the selector I now have to use: $('input:text,input:not([type])')

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the following HTML/CSS:
HTML:
<div id="stealth_form">
<form name="stealthme" action="" onSubmit="return
initializeSearch(this);">
<input type='password' name='query' size=16>
</form>
</div>
<div id="search_form">
<form name="searchme" action="" onSubmit="return
initializeSearch(this);">
<input type='text' name='query' size=16>
</form>
</div>
CSS:
#search_form
{
position: absolute;
top: 600px;
left: 210px;
height: 50px;
width: 300px;
background-color: rgb(70,70,70);
visibility: visible;
}
#stealth_form

top: 600px;
left: 210px;
height: 50px;
width: 300px;
background-color: rgb(70,70,70);
visibility: hidden;
}
OK. I use javascript to dynamically set the visibility of #search_form
to 'hidden' and the visibility of #stealth_form to 'visible'. In
mozilla/firefox there is no visual difference. In IE the #stealth_form
input box is 1 pixel wider, and when the change occurs it catches the
users eye and looks strange.
Any ideas / workarounds? I know this is off topic for this group, but
most on this group know an awful lot about HTML / CSS, and I thought it
was worth a shot.
I am trying to get a alert box to popup each time a input text box is typed into. Here is the coding for the input text box:
This is in includes/search.php
Code:
<input type="search" name="search" id="search" class="search" autocomplete="off" />
And I am using JQuery to listen for it, here's my JQuery Code, I called it in and everything.
This is in js/jcode.js
Code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#search").onchange(function(event){
event.preventDefault();
alert("x");
});
});
And I am calling all: JQuery.js, jcode.js, search.php, into index.php to load it all
Is it possible to have a text box input searching for the entered text on another webpage in the same way Find In Page would do? I have a webpage that I want users to input an item, and that this will open the targeted webpage and bring you to (and highlight) the matched item(s) like find in page does. Is this possible or is the easiest way to just make users open the link to the target page and just complete the find in page search there?
