i have a search form, and the default value is "enter text here"when the user click the submit button, i would like to check if the value of my text input is "enter text here" and if it is, then don't submit the form (popup a warning or something)

I've been trying to figure out with a search box I've added how it can submit by pressing the 'enter' key rather than just clicking a 'submit' button beside a form. I've tried onkeypress but as soon as you press one button the field submits. I've also seen you can do with keycode==13 but I'm not sure how to add it into my code.

I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.

I have javascript injection bookmarks with some of the more common issues, but my issue is even after I populate everything when I try to submit the ticket, it won't recognize that somethign is there unless i go through and hit enter in each form i autopopulated.Most are drop down lists. Is there any way to submit each form(when i hit enter) after the text gets entered in there?

The problem is I can't get the $_POST variables to perform some conditional logic. I want the user to answer a question submit the form to itself and test the result.
I can do this fine with a submit button but a text link styled as a button looks much better. Do I have to use ajax() function or something to send the from variables to a PHP script?

I have taken a class on PHP and started making some math homework and drills for the tutoring I do. I have asked my kids for feedback and they are telling me that it is inconvenient to hit tab to go to the next text box (They have small arms/fingers..)I then thought of a brilliant ideaLet�s say it was 12 divided by 3. If they wrote a 4 in the input area, the JavaScript would recognize the correct answer and automatically move to the next box. However, if they wrote a 3 in the box, the JavaScript wouldn't move over.This kills two birds with one stone. The inconvenience of hitting tab or clicking on the next box disappears, and they are forced to put in the correct answer.Ironically, I have learned PHP and skipped over JavaScript. Which code would I use to do this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a search interface that I'm building that uses radio buttons, jump menus and a keyword search text box.
Is there a way to have a little "go" button next to the text field that will submit just the search string in the text box to my searchresults.php page?
Right now, any submit button I put within the page submits all parameters from my radio buttons and jump menus in addition to the keyword values. I would like the keyword entry box information only to be used if there are any values in it and have any other variables (e.g. from the radio buttons) to be null so I don't get a search with keywords AND radiobutton values. Of course, if nobody clicks the radiobuttons, no problem, no values are passed, but I'm sure some pesky user will have some checked and then decide to do a keyword search...
I'd rather send the info to the same PHP results page, so I don't want other values to muddle up the keyword results. I'm sure I could erase the other values with an 'if keywords=anything then other variables are null' statement, but I want the user to think they're only submitting the keywords from the entire page (which is what a 'go' button next to the field would imply) and I thought there might be a simple way.
