How To Separate A Html Text In Order To Print Each Part In Individual Pages?
Jul 23, 2005
I am a novice/moderate html programmer and I wonder how to tell the
browser from which start point and to which end point in the text will
each page be printed.
In other words, I have a single html text that contains different
informations that are displayed alltogether in the same browser.
When I print this page, the browser should put each different subject
in a separate page and not having it all mixed up.
Is it possible? How should i do it?
The problem with using HTML as a report writer is primarily the unreliable page breaking.
However it is a rather handy way of writing reports with images embedded.
I could generate say 10 HTML pages of a maximum length to fit a page - page1.htm, page2.htm, page3.htm ...etc.
Can I print all 10 pages, one after another automatically using perhaps Javascript or some other method. Naturally dont want to ask the user to do this.
Browser compatability would need to be I.E. 6 and Safari (not sure of the version).
Basically I have created 3 pages - index.html, page1.html + page2.html
I have 2 links in index.html that link off to page1.html + page2.html
My question is, can I use javascript in such a way that if I click link 1 then page1.html opens in a new window but if I then click link 2 then page2.html appears in the window that currently has page1.html?
How would I seperate a text string such that it would appear on seperate lines ie. Initial Input: StrMsg = "This is an example of a string that will appear on seperate lines" "Hoping that this fully works, there will be no errors and all will be well" "This is the last line of text."
I have a form with a number of inputs and also a div element that acts as an input. I want to make it so that if someone is in the input before the div, and they hit "tab", it'll tab to that div.
I have made a site with 5 pages, each page contains a form. Each form is a checklist with a dropdown to choose an answer for each individual item.
Here is a same of the form code:
I am trying to write a script that will be called with onclick event from the "Next" button. This script will collect all the "notOK" option value/names and send them to a document, concatenating the info from the next forms until a single report is created with a list of all the "notOK" values. One the user gets to the end of the last form, there will be a submit button which sends the entire report to a specific email address.
Here is the script I have so far, which pulls the "notOK" values for each page:
This piece of code works great for an individual page, but I need to expand it to send the data to a report instead of window.alert, and I need to add some way of concatenating the data from each form to a single page, doc, etc.
We are offering a coupon for a free soft drink to everyone who fills out our survey. When the user hits the Submit button at the end of the survey, a page appears with the coupon and a Print button. Currently, the whole page prints, including headings and links. I would like to print only the coupon. This is made trickier by the fact that the coupon is customized for each person with the person's name and the date.
I have a web application which has two DIV, one is main and one is child. I am having problem in printing multiple pages. There is a lot of data in the child DIV and I am using JavaScript functions to control the print functionality. When i print using window.print(), only the data on the main page currently being showed is printed. I further researched and checked out the Style.Overflow property. Now I am using divMain.style.overflow = "visible". After this the complete print comes. But in Firefox, the scroll bar disappears and only single page is left with no scroll bar.
Now if after print I give divMain.style.overflow = "Auto" OR divMain.style.overflow = "Scroll", still the scroll bar doesn't come and if It comes then its inactive. I am unable to see the complete data on the page after the print is taken. The problem is not coming in I.E and the full data with scroll bar is recovered in I.E. How to get the normal page with full data and scroll bar after printing in Firefox.
I am trying to minimize the amount of script that I use on my website. I have sections of each page; each section has the same basic layout. The divs and images that I want to make appear and disappear all have nearly identical ids, the only difference is the number at the end of the id.Is there a way to get one script to automatically detect which id number has been clicked and then show all elements with the same number at the end of the id? I would also like it to hide the elements in the hide function below (basically they are the elements that do not share the same id number).I currently have everything working the way I want it to using multiple functions like the one below but I woul
I have a page with links that use jQuery to load individual pages of content into a main content area. On one of these pages, I want to be able to link to a specific anchor. (ie, when you click the link named "exec" on the main page, it loads the "services" page and then scrolls to the "exec" div.

Everything works beautifully in FF and Opera but in IE, I get an error message saying "top is null or not an object". It's referencing the line where "target_offset.top" is called, but this is legitimate syntax, so I don't understand the problem.
I want a header that is a slideshow and use lightbox for other images. No I have this all working but not at the same time.If I use this code in this order only the first script that is the lightbox script works.
I have written a form in HTML which contains username, lastname, email, password and submit.I have written a javascript to validate this form [validate(username, lastname,,password)].On submit this javascript function will be called and hence form get validated. I am passing all the arguements(username, lastname, email and password) to the javascript function..Is it possible to make me a code such that it should call an individual function for each field in the form.for ex:if i have not entered username, last name in the form and attempt to submit, only username arguement should be passed to the function as it comes first in the form.In other sense i want to validate individual text field validation of my form.
I tried to load 1 html through ajax and javascript and it worked. But i want to load more than one and i cant.I thought that it would be a good idea to put the ajax files to the external websites and put the same load button.I tried this idea but it doesn work.I can only load one external website.
I am trying to truncate some text within a 'span' in order to create a 'more/less' button to show/hide the additional. I effectively want to turn this:
Here is the preliminary design of a site I'm making in Adobe GoLive (CS2) in OSX Snow Leopard:I'm using CSS for the layout. What I'd like to do is have the nav menu at left be a separate HTML page that I only have to edit once, and then have repeated throughout the site.I achieved something similar with a javascript code I learned from a friend for the title and top menu of this site:The script on the ScorpioMartianus page looks like this:
I've used a function to out put two lists, - loco numbers and loco names - which I want to display side by side on a page, either in two adjacent divs or in a two-column table so that viewers can straight away reference the numbers with the associated names.
I can output it as a document.write - but that just results in one continuous list of numbers and then names. explain how to output the two lists in two separate divs.
I know there are multiple threads on how to image swap using javascript. I am doing a portfolio with thumbnails at the bottom. When a thumbnail is clicked, it opens a large image at the top of page and then to the right of the large image, the description of the project appears. Both the large image and the text would fade in and stay until the next thumbnail is clicked. I have this for the script (someone pulled this from a site and gave to me) that works for clicking the thumbnail and the large image shows up:
$(document).ready(function(){ var Idx = 1; var IntervalKey; var ChangeImage = function(){ //If the image still animating, stop it and start the new one $("#MainImage").ImageStop(true, true); $("#MainImage").ImageSwitch({NewImage: $(".TnImage").eq(Idx).attr("src").replace("tn-","med-")}); //Mark which thumbnail is displaying [Code]...

I'm trying to write a widget for Mac OSX Tiger. Here's the problem: The user enters a search term which is sent to a perl script on a remote server. This script returns a fully formatted HTML page. I only want part of that page to be displayed. How do I go about doing this?
I'm trying to put in my javascript codes and html codes into the sharepoint "content editor web part" source editor.i have this set of javascript codes that needs to work together with the html codes.i created a link using ahref with the tagname as "homepage". i want to hide this "homepage" link using javascript codes.this is the codes that I'm using right now. the html part is working fine[the link "Homepage" is being display and is able to click on] but not for the javascript part.
I'm trying to come up with what is probably a kludge. What I'd like to do is take the responseText from an AJAX request -- which will be a full HTML page -- and parse it first to find if there is a <form>...</form> in it. If not I'll display a success message and all is fine, but if it's there, then I want to extract just that form section and display it within a <div> in the page.
This is where my JS skills are failing me. Can anyone point me to the applicable functions, tutorial, or whatever that would show me how to find the <form> and extract it and then replace my div contents with it (just innerHTML?).
I have a text file that contains a whole bunch of data points neatly formatted (it's basically a CSV file). I need to create a quick JS function that would load the CSV file (from a URL) and display it with in a page. No parsing is needed! I just need to suck down the file and insert/display it within two div tags.
