I'm trying to make a prompt where if a person types in their username, according to the name it will play a hello message with their name and have their own background.
The script so far looks like this, but I'm trying to make it work.
<script language="JavaScript">
name=prompt("Please Enter Your Name"");
if (name == "Ex1")
{
document.write("<html><head><title>Welcome " + name + "</title></head><body><EMBED src="sound1.ram"><h1>Hello, " + name + "</body></html>");
}
if (name == "Ex2")
{
document.write("<html><head><title>Welcome " + name + "</title></head><body><EMBED src="sound2.ram"><h1>Hello, " + name + "</body></html>");
}
if (name == "Ex3")
{
document.write("<html><head><title>Welcome " + name + "</title></head><body><EMBED src="sound2.ram"><h1>Hello, " + name + "</body></html>");
}
//etc
}
</script>
I'm got an application that uses (will use) 6 drop down boxes to filter through items stored in an array, if I can get a search system sorted out.At the minute i've tried a range of ways and I can't suss this out. At the minute its counting the number of entries that match the filter criteria but its not even getting that 100% right.I've tried using one big if statment 'if condition 1 && condition 2 && condition3 = true then' etc. I've tried nested ifs. t the moment I thought I'd try to dump the values of servos into a new array, that meet the criteia of the first if, then using another if, create another array and repeat this until only the servos that meet all 6 if conditions are stored inside one array that i can then set to display on screen. if there are no matches then i can display a 'none found' messageHeres my code, hopefully its commented enough to follow whats happening,

I have a php function that list all of the countries from my database as a select option, then based on what the user selects for their country im using jquery to make an ajax call and get all of the states/regions for that country. This part works fine. I'm running into an issues, as when a user login's in to edit their profile, how would I make the select change based on what is in the databse.

I was using a google map V2 API, but decided as it is deprectaed, to step up and use the latest version, and it is doing my head in. Basically all I want is a map, that has 5 checkboxes, checkbox1, checkbox2 etc... and if one or all is checked then a marker will appear on the map that I have location preset, the marker when clicked will show a little information and contain a url. I was able to get the map with the five markers completed using V2, but when I was researching how to use checkboxes, i kept being led to the V3 API. I think the Google documentation is pretty bad for this PAI, as there is tons and tons of information but none of it is explaing the simple things, like how to set mutilple markers in V3. It will instead show you how to create polygons using images and fancy stuff that is not essential.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a site that uses 2 domains to forward to the IP no. (a .org.uk and .co.uk). The site uses the Google Map API for a map on the site, however the API key is locked to the individual domain (I do have two keys for both the domains). I found the following Javascript which is supposed to switch the key depending on the domain that is accessing the page.
Code:
if (window.location.host == 'www.domain1.com') {
document.write('<'+'script
src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=1&key=key/for/domain1"
type="text/javascript">' +
'<'+'/script>');
} else if (window.location.host == 'www.domain2.com') {
document.write('<'+'script
src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=1&key=key/for/domain2"
type="text/javascript">' +
'<'+'/script>');
} else {
alert("host ="+window.location.host);
}
but I can't get it to work, the page doesn't display any map (not even an alert) if I use this instead of the normal API key script.
I'm searching high and low for a plugin and since my knowledge of what's available out there in way of plugins is pretty poor, I implore the assistance of [URL] I need a edit-in-place plugin that, when I click "edit", will open up the fields for two items at the same time, a title and a description. One save button, and two editable fields. Title and description should be separate fields, one field, one textfield. I've found tons of plug ins that do one item at a time, but not several.
View 1 Replies View RelatedvBulletin uses a template system so I can't create a separate element for everything -- we have had several people ask for a "skip to the next post" feature and I'd like to implement that for them My first thought was to use anchor tags such as:
<a name="$post[postid]">
for each post and then to create a link for "Jump to Next Post" which would advance the user to the next instance of <a name="$post[postid]"> in which the postid obviously would've changed. With that I didn't know if there was a way that I could have javascript look for the next instance of this, or to pull the postid number and add 1 to it to find the next post on the page. I'm also not sure if it would need to be as complicated as reading where it was at and then adding one and directing person to that anchor point, which is why I thought maybe it could just look for the next instance of <a name="$post[postid]"> and refocus the screen on that.
It doesn't have to be an anchor, it can be a hidden input, whatever makes the JS be able to seek it as a point to move the page to. We do have some members that select a different number of posts per page than the default, so I'm guessing that the plus one might not be a great idea if they used a smaller number per page and then clicked the last one, whereas people with more per post wouldn't need to stop at the same point before it no longer let them. If there's a solution for that, that'd be great as well (such as once it hits the last element on the page, it no longer receives instruction, goes to the top of the page, or something).
I have an application where users select a number from 10 dropdown boxes in table rows. The problem is if they choose the last value the cursor drops down to several rows below. What I really want to do is to focus the row and move the cursor back to the row the user just selected. I tried stuff like:
$.scrollTo('table tr.debit');
$('table tr.debit').focus();
$('table tr.debit').select();
But the cursor doesn't jump back to the row and the row doesnt highlight (debit and credit classes highlight the row on hover).

Is it possible to extend jquery to include a function that will select elements with focus. In the same way :input selects all inputs :selected selects all selected etc but instead :focus or focused: which would select the focused element. I have a table which includes an input field on each row (like a simple datagrid). Id like to be able to hit an access key and delete the row (input textbox) which has focus ie the row which the cursor has been placed in.
I found this but it selects the first input textbox only for some reason?... and not the one with focus.
$.extend($.expr[':'], {
focused: function(elem) { return elem.hasFocus; }
});
var id = $('input :focused').val();
console.log(id);

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just started using the grate validate plugin today and I can't really find an example of what I'm trying to customize...
Basically, I think it's confusing for a select element to change on focus instead of on change, meaning: the user forgets to select an option, the drop down is highlighted with some CSS, so use selects an option, but CSS error styling doesn't go away until the user clicks somewhere else on the page... A minor gripe, but I'm a big believer of the Steve Krug "don't make me think" school ;)
I'm still not quite clearly on how to implement own customizations of this plugin even after going through the docs...

I have this code, and I was wondering if it is possible to make the select boxes appear AFTER you select the field before.
I have an idea for a rollover animation that is basically this:
Then on rollover, this:
I'm thinking either two .jpgs -- the opacity of the blurry one on top reduces on rollover seemingly coming into focus OR css3 transition where two semi-transparent .pngs actually move to come into focus!
Any ideas about plugins, code, etc to accomplish this?
I'm having an issue making a <select> box read only. Disabled works in that it greys it out and prevents the user from changing the value, but it also doesn't submit the value to the server (as expected). On regular inputs the readonly attribute seems to work but when applying readonly to a select, it changes nothing. It doesn't grey out the element and I can still change the value. I've done a bit of searching but can't find anything for IE6. This is for an intranet where the target is 100% IE6 so I don't care if it doesn't work in other browsers. It must be IE6 ...
