I want to make HTML appear as text to maybe write some snippets on a site. I know that there is a way to make < and > by using < and > but I would like something that were a bit easier to remember and quicker like maybe using jQuery to take the content from a snippet and turn it into regular text.
JavaScript learner, first time poster. When I grow up, I want to be a JS guru. In the meantime, if I had hair, I'd have pulled it out yesterday. I've been working for a few days now, trying different techniques to perform what I think should be a simple function. Here's the situation:
I have an HTML page:[URL]... ...which calls a function in a JS file on another server [URL].. which I did not write, nor can I change. The JS file determines the date and time, checks it against a list of conditions, then displays one of two gifs indicating whether or not an online help person is expected to be online, based on the date and time.
The list of conditions in the JS changes from time to time (holidays), so I want to continue calling the JS but the problem is the graphic it references does not fit into our available space for it. The function within the JS:
1. When I have the "<textarea>" code lines in it put a text-area on the page, but it puts all of the code following that first text-area line into the text-area box and doesn't execute that segment of code.
2. When there is no "<textarea>" (for the sake of seeing if the rest of it worked) it doesn't check the survey.
I'm stumped and can't figure out what to do at this point Code and pictures follow:
I am trying to make a gui for clients to edit a php page that displays html and javascript.
I want the user to be able to move html elements around and even edit it like add effects like fade in and out etc.
Then after all the changes I want to overwrite the existing php file that does this for that user. how can you make such changes and then save it to a file?
It's an html / javascript editor but using a gui instead of allowing them to directly touch the code. It would be a security risk if I allow such a thing. So I need to program a interface that would make such changes and save them to file.
Like how can you delete and add new javascript code to the file?
and in this code, it works, the call is made and text is added. in the other code I don't get a change at all. Not even in the database that add.php manipulates.
I am new to javascript, and am having an issue, which I'm sure is elementary.. I found a script for expandable content, it suffices fine. As it stands, the script toggles images onclick. For example, whence the menu is collapsed, it displays "plus.gif" next to it, and when the menu is expanded, it displays "minus.gif" next to it.
Basically, what I would like to know is, thus: how would I change it to display text icons next to it? For example, in place of "plus.gif" I should like it to display "+" as actual text. I've dredged a number of places, however, I've found nothing. Furthermore, I cannot figure out how to do it.
I've been following this tutorial (and it works great)URL...Just cannot figure out how to make one of the Text Fields a Text Area with cols="45" rows="5".Every combination I've tried turns off the validation. I've already added completely different text fields from what are shown in the tutorial so I know how to change up the javascript I just can't get the Text Area right.
I want to run video at our website at a specified time only, like i might want my video to be played at 9.00a.m exactly . how can i do it using javascript.
how to make the following code work for both IE and Mozilla?
function AddRow() { if (navigator.appName=="Microsoft Internet Explorer")
[code]...
//the following javascript function is saved in another .js file which is then called from the main php file when the above button is clicked. It works fine with Mozilla and Chrome.
function AddRow() { var morerow=document.getElementById("tbl")
[code]...
Also, why are you mixing DOM standard with innerHTML?
i know how to do the link thing that if u click it it closes the window. but im wondering if theres a way to automatically close a window after the php code is done running. cause i have an inbox and theres a link to delete the message if you click on it it will open up a new windows and run the php script to delete the message then it will say message deleted. im wondering how instead if just saying msg deleted it can close itself(the window) as well? does anyone know how? can i do it with pure php or do i need javascript too? i figured javascript.
I have some code that will check a users screen resolution and open a new window with a particular version of my website in, I have several sites for different page sizes. But when this code runs in Safari the pop-up is blocked so I would like the image on my page to be a button that runs the code to open the 'correct' window (based on the screen res) and as a button is launching the new window Safari should be okay about it.
I have the code below that gives the ability to open and collapse sections.I don't know too much javascript and found this code online. I tweaked it to serve my purposes but it doesn't do one thing. I would like all of the areas to be collapsed when the page is opened. How would I tweak the code below to do that?
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
On one of my test sites I have an image that when you mouseover it has an enlarged image with description pop up which floats or aligns downward (default). Does anyone know the code or tag to make it float/align upward?
These images are near the bottom of the page so I want the pop up to pop up into the page and not down below the page line.[URl]..
I have made a website that you need a password to get into. The following javascript code works in Internet Explorer but, I need it to work in Safari also. Can anyone please rewrite this code, as simple as possible, to work in both Safari and Internet Explorer?
How can I create a text input field which has a value displayed by default and when a use clicks in the filed, it disappears? Similar to a "search..." box - when a use goes to search, the "search..." text disappears.
