Detect Script When Page Is Printed?

Sep 24, 2010

Does anyone know of anyway to detect if someone prints a page?

I've tried putting an ASP.NET tracking file in between the print media .css file but it seems browsers request all css files whether they're printing or not, so that wont work.

Is there any way to detect this using Javascript?

Onlick Open New Window If Text Input Matched That Is Printed To The Page?

May 7, 2009

I have everything working accept the last part and I don't know what to do.function show() works and shows data entered in text box.function open_win() works,but I only need it to open when there is a input match say like the name Tom,otherwise I want function show() just to show the input.

Currently the new window opens every time the button is pressed needs to match input string only before window opens and then string print to window I think these two lines are the problems(whatever the input) document.getElementById('myDiv').innerHTML = string; And var bselect= "Tom" open_win(); I think I need to set var to the string printed to page to solve the last part. how to I get the blank window to the center of screen,as it covers the data in the function show.

Below is my code thus far :

<html>
<head>
<title>Input</title>

Insert <link> Into Html

Aug 3, 2010

I am trying to use the lalit.lab font detector in order to serve different style sheets based on what fonts the user has installed. My problem is that I don't know how to insert the <link rel="stylesheet" href="/stylesheets/css1.css"> into the HTML via javascript. The code I have is something like this (i know it's not actually javascript code):

Code:
if (detective.test('candara')) { // tests if the font is installed
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/stylesheets/css1.css"> // here it should write to the html la link to the css
}
else {
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/stylesheets/css2.css">

I found something but it only works with html elements:

Link To Page Using Target Blank & Linking Page's Window Location?

Feb 16, 2011

Basically, I have a link that should open the targeted link in a blank page, and upon the link being clicked, the original page's URL should be changed. The reason for this is that the user has to browse information on another website, and then pass the information on to me via a contact form, so rather than make them click back on my tab in the browser, and then find the "Contact" page link to fill in the form, I thought it would a good feature to simply go ahead and load the "Contact" page upon them clicking the link to the external page (which of course loads in a new tab). Here is the code I have in place:

Code JavaScript:
<a href="http://www.othersite.com/" target="_blank" onclick="window.location.href='http://www.mysite.com/contactus.php';">Other Site</a>

This all works fine on my computer, regardless of the browser that I use. One of my partners on this project called me this morning and said that the link was taking him directly to the "Contact" page without opening the "Other Site." This is strange because after I put this in place, I showed it to him and it worked fine. Now, a few days later, and it does not work. He said that he cleared his browser cache, history, cookies, etc. and the problem did not go away. He uses IE8. After he told me it was no longer working, I went to test it myself, and it works fine for me no matter which browser I use (IE8 or 9, Firefox 3 or 4 Beta).

why this might have worked one day and not the next? Is it simply a problem on his computer, or could it be an issue where based on what type of browser you are using, this won't work. Also, I know this is the JavaScript forum, but is there a way to do this in PHP without using the JavaScript onclick event? Obviously, I can't use the header() function since this functionality needs to be present on a link within text of a page.

Go To Next Page - Load The First Page Of A Series Of Pages Into An Iframe When You Click A Link

Aug 15, 2006

1. Load the first page of a series of pages into an iframe when you click a link
2. On each click load the next in order page
3. When last page has loaded if clicked again will start from the beginning.

What I am doing: I am creating a tutorial for a friend who cannot figure out how to use her new rental management program. I could use a manual slide show to have her click for the next image however, there are a LOT of tutorial images which show her what to do at that point. Her program contains a great number of setup screens, report screens etc. This means the slide show would be sitting there loading all these images before it will work. So, I figured, OK make a page with an iframe, and then I could put each image on it's own little page i.e. page1, page2 etc. Place a little button, or a next link, then have the link load the pages into the iframe in order.

Brighten A Page To White When A Link Is Clicked, And Then Unbrighten To The New Page

Sep 1, 2006

brighten a page to white when a link is clicked, and then unbrighten to the new page the link sends you to.

Anyone know how to do that?

I want to make the home page be the gateway page, and if you click on any of the links, the home page fades to white really fast/smooth and then the white goes away fast and smooth revealing the link that was clicked.

Link To A JS File, From An HTML OnClick?

Feb 4, 2011

I have an HTML page that displays content, but I'd like to transfer them to a JS file when they click a button. In other words I'd like the equivalent of doing this:

Code:
<a href="myscript.js">Click here for Help</a>

Obviously this doesn't work.I tried the following, which attempts to transfer, but the screen just goes dark:

Code:

<input type="button" onClick="location.href='../contactus.js'" value='click here' />

This does the same thing.

Creating Html Link Using Variable?

Apr 12, 2011

I'm using a form data reference, something like P-1234 for example to create a text file and a link to the file. This is during the construction of a new table or table row with javascript. I have an array of one or more references submitted via form using $_POST. On my action page I am creating a txt file P-1234. If I am creating a table ot table row using createElement(), one of the cells will have a link to the file. If the file is created as follows:

$File = $_POST['ref'][$i] . "txt";
After creating the cell
var Cell = document.createElement('td');

[code]....

I assume the link is inserted using innerHTML? If so, do I just append the filename to the end of the file path like this?

Cell.innerHTML = "http://localhost/Project/+File";

HTML Link That Calls Function?

Jun 14, 2010

I am currently trying to make an html link that will add elements (specifically, drop down menus) to the current page when you click it. Since I am adding all the elements to the page using JavaScript, I'm not sure how to set up the link to call a function rather than go to a different page. I've seen people set the href attribute to the function they want, so I tried that and it didn't work. I've also seen a way that involves using onclick and making the link follow the onclick, not go to a different page.

In summary, how do you create/edit a link (from javascript) to make it use a javascript function rather than go to a different page? This is what I have currently (that concerns the link):

var link = document.createElement('a');
eval("link.setAttribute('href', 'javascript:addHours(" + dayDiv + ")');");
