Loading A Html File Into A Div From A Link?
Mar 28, 2009
i found a way to click a link and load it into a div. the only problem is that i keep getting the "AHA error" from the if statement in my div.
i'm not sure if it is me or the coding but i'll post what i'm using in jscript here:
function ahah(url, target) {
document.getElementById(target).innerHTML = ' Fetching data...';
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
req = new XMLHttpRequest();
[Code]....
i don't think it's because i'm using an image map (i know... ol' skoolin it)

I'm fairly new to jquery so apologies if this is a very simple question with a very simple answer, but I just can't figure out the solution. I have an overlay div, and when I close the overlay I want to remove the html inside it and then re-load it from the specified file. I have already worked out how to empty the div, but what I now want to do is re-populate it with the content from a separate file on my web server.

I have an HTML page that displays content, but I'd like to transfer them to a JS file when they click a button. In other words I'd like the equivalent of doing this:
Code:
<a href="myscript.js">Click here for Help</a>
Obviously this doesn't work.I tried the following, which attempts to transfer, but the screen just goes dark:
Code:
<input type="button" onClick="location.href='../contactus.js'" value='click here' />
This does the same thing.

I have a JS which I have already started to try to customise, but I am having some difficulty with it in that when I click on an image, it does not take me to my html page.with care.html. Although all files are in the same folder, I get an error indicating that the fille cannot be found (I have checked the file name spelling). I am not doing any of this online as the Web pages, when working, will be put on CDs.

I am looking for a way to select a file from a list and load it into a webpage. The page and the files are stored on a sd-card for off-line usage, I know that listing files remote dynamicly needs a scripting engine but since the sd-card is on the client side that is not possible, but I can make a list of those files when creating them.
It is intended for a datalogger on a tractor-puller, I create csv files with a bash script on the logger and for off-line viewing I use a javascript charting engine which loads the csv file, the files have the creation date as filename and I can make (and maintain) a list of files when creating them. The plan is that the we can select another data set (run) from within the browser and show that one. I have setup an example at [URL]

I have a jQuery script that loads and displays a small window on a mouse hover. I use jQuery AJAX to load the content on that window. Having that, I noticed that loading the response from php file (which does not have a php code, only the file has .php on its name) is slower than the same file content with .html name. I wonder if this is a common problem or there is some issue with my codes. I will post my code if needed (if that seems to be the problem).Note: I mentioned that there is no php code in the php file because I am only testing the performance currently. After it is developed, there will be (obviously) php code in it.

I got an [object error] from IE 7.0.5730.11 when moving the <script
src="..." type="text/javascript" /tag from the <headpart to the
<bodysection of a HTML file.
Is not possibile to include Javascript code via <script src="..."
type="text/javascript" /from the <bodysection, instead from the
<headone? If yes, anyone has any idea of which the problem could be?
If not, how can I programmatically include a javascript external file
inside the <bodypart of a HTML file, for example, using Javascript
to some particular native functions?

I wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.
$("#load").load('gerenciar_itens.php',{/* This is where I wanna pass the file. */}, function(data){
alert(data);
});

I have one html-file where the user inserts a search path for an excel file. When the user clicks the button the data in the excel file should be presented in a <TABLE>. (Yeah, I know, activex only works in IE .. but that's good enough for this project)
The problem is .. I started out with a "fixed" search path for the excel file, so I didn't have the code in a function. That worked just fine. Once I added the function {} around the code it wouldn't work, it works just fine if I comment out the form-part and the function-part, and give the search path, of course.
It also works just fine if I use the function and form, but remove the <TABLE>- and <TR>-rows

I have a .js file, we want to make it to load a html file right next to it, both files are on client system. I couldn't find any such examples and some posts talked about JavaScript security issues, I wonder if it is related to what I want.
Someone said .js file is not really JaveScript file, though Microsoft named it 'JavaScript'.
note that I am trying to "call" .html file from the .js file, not embed html code in .js.

Let's say my site is located in a folder named 'temp'. My index.php is in that folder and there is also a folder named 'common' where I've stored my .php files that I also load.
[Code]...
However, in whenever I click on a link (from the index.php that has main_menu.php included), it doesn't seem to work. Always getting the msg "There was a problem with your request"). Does it have to do with the fact that my pages are in .php? And if so, how can I modify my code to work with .php files?

I came across a very odd browser behavior when trying to modify a css class using javascript and at the same time having a base html statement in my html file.Without the base html statement, all browsers work fine and I can change the css class definition using javascript easily.With a base html statement, only FireFox still works while Internet Explorer and Google Chrome dont work anymore. If there is a cross-domain issue, while one browser does work and the others dont? An example of what I'm talking about, with the base statement:
http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-base.html
Without the base statement:
http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-nobase.html
how to tweak the code in the case with the base html statement in order for the javascript to work with all browser (modifying the class definition) ?I want to be able to manipulare css classes with javascript when a base html statement is in my html code.This is essentially the code:
<!--
-->
<base href='http://www.google.com'>
<style id='myStyle' type='text/css'>[code]....

I have a file that generates web galleries in Adobe Lightroom. They are generated depending on which files are selected and the metadata in those files.
Basically it is a series of pages of thumbnails called index.html index_1.html index_2.html etc.
Then a set of pages for each individual image.
An example can be seen here: [url](the page navigation links are not great, but I have addressed that, they're at the bottom >> )
Currently if a user clicks on a photo there is a 'return to thumbnails button at the top, but this always takes them to /index.html
So the user could be at a picture after browsing to /index_39.html and still get returned to /index
Is there any way I can use history.go to find the last instance of index.html Or index_x.html (where x is any number) and take them back to that instead?

I have a set of scripts which rely on the ability to dynamically load css by constructing <link> elements via DOM scripting, and appending them into the page header. It works, for the most part, extremely well, but I need to be able to attach an onload function to said links. Unfortunately, this only seems to work in IE, not in FireFox or Safari (the three being my 'target' browsers under which the whole system needs to work.) Any means by which I can determine via Javascript whether such a link has finished loading? It doesn't have to be via onload if it's unsupported, but I need to be able to implement it across IE / Mozilla / Safari.

How do I link to a Javascript script like I link to a.css file?
This is the way my code looks, (this does work):
Code:
<script language="JavaScript">function showObj(objid)
{
parent.frames['there'].document.getElementById(objid).style.display='block'
parent.frames['there'].document.getElementById(objid).style.zindex=Ƌ'
}</script>
</head>
<body onload="showObj('Pg'+parent.document.forms['chapage'].elements['pge'].value);">
I have never been able to get my Javascript into a .js file and still have it work.

I'm using the jmapping plugin and it's all working great - when you click on a location link in the side bar the map pans to the location. However what I also want to happen when I click the location link is to load more information about the location onto the page.The idea is to load the div from infodivs.aspx which has an id that matches the href of the link that was clicked. I can make the whole page load without issue but I can't get my head around the syntax for identifying the href of the clicked link and then inserting that into the load statement as a div id.I've tried this.href but if that's actually the right approach, I haven't phrased it right so farHere's the code:
$("a.map-link").click(function () { $('div#moreinfo').empty().load('infodivs.aspx what goes here?');
});

If you need to load a page and then add a light box to it be sure that the whole page is loaded before you add the lightbox or it will not function.
In your description you add the lightbox and the load some content. The content are not in the dom when you add the lightbox so the lightbox don't know what to add it's function onto.

I am having difficulty in opening a link in an Iframe. If I explain, I have four pages
-Page 1 containing the Iframe
-Page 2 containing a series of thumbnails that opens in Iframe on page 1
-Page 3 is the larger image that opens in the Iframe on page 1 after clicking the thumbnail on page 2
-Page 4 is a page with a linking menu that has a link to page 3
The task I am struggling with is to get the link on page 4 to open the larger image of page 3 in the Iframe on page 1. Now I maybe doing something wrong but the code is opening page 2 in the Iframe on page 1. Below are the links to the pages in question.
Page 1 Art for Sale - Bertram Enterprises
Page 2 Bertram Enterprises Collection_Ver2
Page 3 [URL]
Page 4 Jenni Dutton - Bertram Enterprises link near bottom of page - Art for Sale
I wish to use this on many more of the images.

What's the simplest way to fetch a js file from the current website, then
cache it?
I'm using dojo, which has a large js file when using the built version.
As a mercy for dialup users, I want to serve up a tiny 'loader' html page
(containing an animated 'loading...' gif) which, when loaded:
1. retrieves the big js file, and plants it in the cache
2. when the js file is retrieved, then sets document.location to
the url of the real website page which uses this js file, and
thus redirects to that page.
