FileSystem Object

Jul 20, 2005

I have a code in ASP which makes an instance of FileSystemObject and creates a text file and Saves. The code works fine for Win2000 OS. Now I put the same code on WINXP. The same code doesn't create a file. I have check the user access and all the related things, but still no success.

I think when XP is loaded the .NET framework is loaded and that's Y the file is not created. The same is the case on WIN2000 if I load .NET Framework. Is there any way to solve this....

Submission Error In IE - Object Expected Or Object Is Null Or Undefined

Oct 15, 2009

I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.

Code:

function secureBarSubmit(formId)
{
alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId)); // object always
alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId).onsubmit); // func first time then it is broken

Create A New Template Object That Inherits From The Built In Date Object

Oct 6, 2011

Is there any way at all to create a new template object that inherits from the built in Date object so as to be able to add new methods to that child object without adding them to the built in Date object? I've tried everything I can think of and as far as I can tell it keeps referencing the Date function instead of the Date object and so doesn't work.

Then I have javascript connecting to a url on my server that generates a dynamic file and returns it from memory. My problem is that I can display the text from this new file, but what I want to do is prompt the user to save the file locally. Is there a way to make this sort of conversion in javascript?

Passing Reference To Object To Another Object?

Jun 21, 2010

I know just enough javascript to be dangerous, I created a 5 star rater for pages, which is set up something like this:

Code:
var starRater=function(id){
// get latest rating info from server, write into "id" div, etc
}
//later in code...
var rating=new starRater("rating");

Over the course of development I added a comment section, page visit count and so forth, and ended up with redundant code and a lot of calls to the server. I thought instead I would make one initial call and then initialize the elements with the information returned.

To be able to call the initialize function on these elements, I need some reference to them. I could call them directly, as in the example above I could call rating.init(), but I'd have to know what variable name was given to it. Instead I was thinking I'd pass some sort of reference to the object, but that doesn't seem to be working.

[Code]...

In the code above I get undefined for raterElem.testVar. Obviously I'm missing something. What am I doing wrong?
