jquery code:
$.ajax({
url: "validate_livestock_form/index/",
type: 'POST',
dataType: "json",
data: form_data,
success: function(data) {
alert(data);

php page is echoing out:{"species":"Please select a species!"} I double checked the response from the php and firebug shows the same. On success alert is not alerting the JSON data instead, I'm receiving [object Object]. Why is that and how do what should I do to fix this?
I have a simple website with 2 Frames,In top frame I have a button that invokes CGI script and internally that CGI script prints info (text) into the bottom frame.Going further we want to print the output coming from CGI into a textarea object in bottom form.
I have a function in my CGI script:But ends up printing multiple textarea objects in lower frame.We want to print each line of text into the same textarea object in lower frame. and at the end display a new button.How can we do this using javascript/CGI?I tried the following but not displaying anything.
sub print_message {
my($message1, $message2) = @_;
my $final_message = $message1 . " " . $message2;

Why won't the alert(arr[1].src); work in the showMe(); function

I am doing some custom development in Salesforce.com's Force.com platform.
I have built a custom object (table) called "conferences" which has 2 fields named "Conference name" and "Number of attendees". I need to pass data from these fields to a Java Script Alert box. the Javascript code I need to use to make this happen?
Basically I need to know the method, procedure or function to use to pass data from the object (table) into the Javascript alert box.
I'm trying to figure out this script doesn't display any text in the
child window and why I'm getting the null or not an object error.
It's taken directly from the Javascript and DHTML cookbook (not listed
in the book errata on o'reilly website). Initially I get an error
"window.dialogArguments.yourName" is null or not an object. Then I
fill out the field on the form, press the button and the child window
does display but there is no text inside the child window.
Questions: Should I be declaring an object that isn't currently
declared like "window"? or is "window" a built in object that doesn't
need declaring? do I need to assign the dialogDoc.html or "result" to
"document" somehow? It looks like they have me putting a value in
"result" then never actually using "result"... confused... Using ie

I have checked to make sure all other javascript files are loading and they are and I can't figure out whats wrong. You can see it [URL]
I am trying some simple things with javascript and trying to use it in a object oriented way. However I am now facing a problem in which I can't access an object variable from an object method. I am using jQuery.
My code is as follows;
Code:
My problem is that the variable msg1 does not work when accessed from function called from the jQuery get function. I get the message undefined. Therefore I am wondering, is there a way how I can access msg1 of my object instance from the get function of jQuery?
I have two result. SelectableChildren: groupHead.nextAll(".SimpleButton") and SelectableChildren: groupHead.nextAll(".SimpleButton").next().children(".SimpleButton")
I would like to combine them into one object so that I can bind a handle to them in one loop. $.each(combineResult, function(index, object){ ... })
I have to make them in one, so that I can pass it around.
I have the following code:
A = {
"value": "a",
};
B = A ;
B.value = "b";
alert (A.value); // => b
I expected A.value to be "a". how can I change values of a new object, without changing the parent-object?
I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.
Code:
function secureBarSubmit(formId)
{
alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId)); // object always
alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId).onsubmit); // func first time then it is broken

Can assign a new function to a built-in object in Firefox:
But IE and Opera don't have a MouseEvent or HTMLElement that can be set up in the same way. Can you do this in IE or Opera, or just Firefox, and maybe Webkit?
every time I try and alert:
[ { number:0, secondnumber:0 }, { number:2, secondnumber:1 }, { number:1, secondnumber:2 } ]
it just shows [object object], [object object], [object object]. Why is this and what can I do to make the record be shown as it is above in an alert?
Is there any way at all to create a new template object that inherits from the built in Date object so as to be able to add new methods to that child object without adding them to the built in Date object? I've tried everything I can think of and as far as I can tell it keeps referencing the Date function instead of the Date object and so doesn't work.

I am using a Photo Gallery script called Galleria which uses jQuery/JavaScript to display photos. On my index page load (only in Internet Explorer), a message box pops up saying "Message from Web Page [object Object]". After clicking OK the photo gallery loads and there is no problem.No idea how to fix this, or really what the error means. You can view the error from my site here
View 3 Replies View RelatedI created a method for displaying an object's properties:
As long as renderfunction = false, the object is fine coming out of this function.
However, if I change renderfunction to true, all my properties become undefined. Why isn't this working as I expect it to?
How would I go about copying all the prototype functions AND the constructor from one object into another object, and then call them?
I know I can use this.example.call(this), but that's not an acceptable solution. I want to deploy this style over dozens, potentially hundreds of objects.
I'm writing a program that involves a network of interconnected nodes (or simply objects in my example below). It depends on being able to access properties of an object's linked objects (a bit oddly worded, sorry)...Problem is I'm not sure how to properly access those properties... see below please.
<script>
//This is an example of a problem im having in my own code...
//I want to access the name of the object within the links array wintin the object...

I've been trying to create a 'loading page' for a from. When a user submitts a form, a loading animation is displayed on the page. Then I have javascript connecting to a url on my server that generates a dynamic file and returns it from memory. My problem is that I can display the text from this new file, but what I want to do is prompt the user to save the file locally. Is there a way to make this sort of conversion in javascript?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a servlet that does nothing more than create a XML file.i have got some JQuery code that reloads the servlet to get the XML data.This works fine and i am able to load the data i want, the problem i have is that when the data is loaded to the jsp page it displays [object Document] in front of my output.
Code JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function() {
setInterval(function() {[code]....
XML file only has one value, called row 1 with the data, "wow this is cool", but my output is: [object Document]
I know just enough javascript to be dangerous, I created a 5 star rater for pages, which is set up something like this:
Code:
var starRater=function(id){
// get latest rating info from server, write into "id" div, etc
}
//later in code...
var rating=new starRater("rating");
Over the course of development I added a comment section, page visit count and so forth, and ended up with redundant code and a lot of calls to the server. I thought instead I would make one initial call and then initialize the elements with the information returned.
To be able to call the initialize function on these elements, I need some reference to them. I could call them directly, as in the example above I could call rating.init(), but I'd have to know what variable name was given to it. Instead I was thinking I'd pass some sort of reference to the object, but that doesn't seem to be working.
[Code]...
In the code above I get undefined for raterElem.testVar. Obviously I'm missing something. What am I doing wrong?
Obviously I'dont want "alert('undefined !?');" to happen.

Is there any way to get the variable name of an object from inside the object?
[Code]...
I have a Class name Merkzettel.
[Code]...
and addClickEvent sets the onclick attribute of above mentioned DIV. and in addClickEvent I am explicitely mentioning the name of class object. This means every time I create a Variable with another name I have to Change this function also.
