Download Images From Server To Local Filesystem?

Nov 25, 2009

I'm have some images on a site that I want a user to download to their sdcard.i have urls for the images and i have a webpage with a button.when the user clicks the button, i want it to download those images to an sdcard in their pc (hopefully they can select where using a windows open file type box).i think this may be quite difficult due to security with browsers and Iv looked into activex object (but cant get it to save to my filesystem).if this cant be done, perhaps i could do it on the server-side using php and have the user use filezilla to download the images. obviously this is not a very elagant solutio

JQuery :: Download Webpages To Local Drive?

Jul 12, 2011

I think I know the answer to this but I want to ask anyway. There are scores of pages on a particular website that I need to download so I can process them. They would all come down as XML files. I wrote a desktop app a while ago to do this but I was hoping to move this functionality to my website. This is an example of one of the pages I would download/copy:[URL]... A related question is... after I get all of these pages into a folder on my machine... I will need to point JQuery to the folder where they were copied and process each one. Does JQuery have a built in way to open a folder and capture all the files inside so they can be processed? I couldn't find anything like that.

Reading Local Files - Place Images In The Images Directory

Sep 23, 2010

There is a slideshow on my website that reads in the address of local images and puts them in a slideshow rotation to be displayed on the page. I currently have to "hard code" the addresses in, similar to the JavaScript below:

However, I want to be able to place images in the Images directory without having to make sure the files are named the same as in the code. I would like JavaScript to go out to a local directory, see what's in there, grab anything in jpeg format (regardless of the name), and put it in the slideshow rotation.

Javascript To Find Fastest Download Site/server??

Nov 2, 2001

Is it possible, using client-side JavaScript, to test a series of download sites to see which is most likely to be the fastest file download site for a user?

I wondered whether JavaScript could download a portion of a file, or alternatively a small sample image file, just to test the download speed of each site, then report to the user the fastest, next fastest, and so on.

I have this code:

var dataString = $.toJSON(data);
$.post(url, {dataValues: dataString}, function(res){
$('#secretIFrame').attr('src', url);
$('#secretIFrame').html(res);
});

Problem is, I can't access dataValues at the server side once I assign this same URL to the iframe.Is there any other way to POST JSON value through form submission without ajax? or any other way out, I am trying to download file that is based on some parameters and isn't a direct download link.

JQuery :: Slideshow Works In Local View But Not On Server

May 30, 2010

Following this jQuery slideshow tutorial (Usecase 3 sample, about 2/3 down the page, this is the one without thumbnails): [url]

I constructed the slideshow:[url]

...which works perfectly in browser view locally (FF and IE). When uploaded to the server, however, I've got a static list of photos as you can see. Can someone shed some light on what the problem is? All relevant files are attached (I changed the images to simple colors to get the file size within the attachment limit).

Uploading Files (PHP) To The Server From Local Machine Via Dreamweaver?

Feb 6, 2010

On uploading files (PHP and javascript) to the server from local machine via dreamweaver, Google Chrome reported the presence of malicious codes (like loto-49) inside the server page. Later when I checked, I found that a HTML Code:document.write('....loto-49.com....'); was automatically added at the end of each javascript *.js files. On their removal, the warnings were gone.Recently, they again appeared. Between the closure of the head tag (</head>) and the start of the body tag(<body>) the following code is added automatically:

Open File From Web Browser (local Server) Directly Into Photoshop

Aug 15, 2010

I have a photo editing business with many people working in Photoshop. I am currently developing a web based application (joblist) using Javascript and PHP which should allow the photoshop designers to browse and open files/images directly from joblist/web browser into photoshop. The reason I want this instead of browsing folder is that I have a database where I store who worked on which file, when and how long it took. The concept is that, designers will select a file and click on start, as soon as they click on start the original file will open in Photoshop and there will be an entry into database (using PHP).

Once they finish the task they will close the file and click on Finish button. My joblist application will be published in a local server and the file will be open on a local network, so when they save the file it will be saved where the source file is located in (local server). The application should work in both PC and Mac. How to write the code (PHP or Javascript) which can open the file from browser (local server) directly into desktop application e.g. PHotoshop or Illustrator?

Protecting Images From Download ?

Mar 4, 2009

I website I've seen recently uses a clever technique, which I'm still working to figure out. When you go to view an image, a pop-up window opens -- the image is downloaded (non-cached) and then some javascript (presumably) loads a replacement image in its place (it's not displayed) -- when you go to save it, you get the dummy image.

Further, they make some javascript call (presumably, or jquery) to replace the document content of that page, so when you do a View Source, you get something totally different.

How this is actually working, and whether something like that could be cross-browser supported.

Download Images With Save/view Prompt?

Sep 7, 2009

I wish to give the user the ability to download a file. The variable "url" is set to the url of a file on the server. I want to give the user the ability to either open it (if known type) or save it.

The following works for documents such as MS Word, but not for images (jpg, etc):
window.open(url,'Download');

Any suggestions how to not just create a new window for images, but give the choice whether to save it or view it?

Images On Local Machine Loading Very Slowly In Firefox

Oct 30, 2005

I've written a slideshow script which loads and displays a series of >1Mb images from the local machine. Each image is loaded twice - once to get the dimensions and once to be shown on the screen, so it can be dynamically resized by another script.

This script runs without problems in Opera and Internet Explorer, no matter how many times it's executed. However, after it runs a couple dozen times in Firefox, the width and height attributes of the image start returning 0. It seems like the loading has slowed down considerably and the script starts skipping to the next line without waiting for it to finish.

I've tried adding the line while(!image.complete), which works, but invariably causes Firefox to display a message saying the script is causing Firefox to run slowly, and asking if I want to abort.

Is there a way I can flush earlier images from the cache, or somehow free up resources so the script will continue to run as quickly as it does at the start?

JQuery :: Create Copy Of File On Server Change It And Create Download Link On Page?

Dec 16, 2011

I have files on the server: .txt, .xml, .config, and "no extension" - all editable with notepad.

User will write some input, it will be added to file in specific place.

I need an ability to change element value in file (in one of them - depends what user choose) (or it even can be some trigger word it-self like CHANGE_ME for not to use attributes)

Create a temporary copy of edited file and create a unique temporary link to it.

I don't know what to start from.... For now I know how to make XHR, but what to do with other extensions?

Have no idea how to save the NEW file (a copy of original file) on server , and create a UNIQUE link ,and delete the file right after it was downloaded.

I can find a specific word in xml file, but how to change it?[code]...

Get Images From Folders On Server Instead Of List Of Image Links?

Jul 13, 2010

I have created a photography website myself and coded it all in dreamweaver cs4. Now i have created it using html, as i didnt want to limit it to flash users and loading times etc etc. So today i found myself a nice simple slideshow tool that uses html and javascript. i created it using a site online (which i will not post as i dont think we are allowed to post to online sites).

The slideshow loads images up in the background, and it plays them in a random order.

Now i am able to define individual image links to either a url of the an image, or point it to individual images, listing them one by one in my coding, which as a photographer having differet galleries is goign to be a royal pain when i want to have new images showing up.

So my idea is to replace the code that retrieves in dividual images from url's, to replace it with a piece of code that will display an image from a list of about 7 or 8 folders on my server all containing images....

i.e. displays an image from the folder .../images/models/pic01.jpg then it brings up an iamge from a different folder .../images/portrait/pic08.jpg.

Is there a way to do this and how can i go about it?

this is the code i currently have:

<!-- configurable script -->
<script type="text/javascript">
theimage = new Array();
// The dimensions of ALL the images should be the same or some of them may look stretched or reduced in Netscape 4.

[Code].....
