Web Assignment - Put In Interactive Elements Into Our Webpages - Confirm Button For A Form

May 3, 2010

For my web assignment we have to put in interactive elements into our web pages. The one I'm having trouble is a confirm button for a form, (it doesn't send any info as we have not been taught any php or any form of server side scripting yet). What I have want the button to do is to check that all feilds have been entered info if they then thank the user and close pop up div, if not request the user to enter info into all fields.

My code does sort of I want but doesn't thank the person if it is all filled instead it says please enter info into all feilds and then closes.

Confirm Dialog Button Not Firing To Clear Data

Oct 5, 2011

I used this button to clear the database. It works perfectly:
HTML Code:
<input class="clearButton" type="button" value="Erase Data Now" onclick="clearData()">
However, it would be better to put it in a confirm dialog to prevent accidental use. So I used this line to open a dialog box:
HTML Code:
<input class="clearButton" type="button" value="Clear Data" onclick="confirmation()">

I used this script for the dialog box:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
// Confirm Dialog box from [URL]
function confirmation() {
var answer = confirm("Are you sure you want to erase ALL data you entered into the fields on this page? Action cannot be undone.")
if (answer){
onclick="clearData()";
}else{
onclick="close()";
}}
</script>

However, the
Code:
onclick="clearData()";
is not firing, but the
Code:
onclick="close()";
works fine, dismissing the dialog box. How do I incorporate the clearData so it works?

Submit Form Using A Function And A Confirm Box

Jul 20, 2005

I am submitting a form using an image as the link to a js file. The image calls a js function which checks fields- issuing alerts for errors - if no errors it then submits the form.

I would like to have a final confirm box run from the function before the form is submitted. I guess I would have to use the return statement somehow but I can't see quite how.

Link Save Dialogue

Jul 20, 2005

My aim: To click on a link (or what looks like a link to the user),
and rather than the file linked to opening in the browser or what ever, the
save dialogue comes up so they can download it instead.

I would like this to work with images - "click on the thumbnail to
download a larger picture" - kind of thing. JPGs specifically.

Can anyone help? I'm sure it's possible in java script, I just can't
find it anywhere. I've found a few ASP scraps but nothing concrete.

Specify Word Doc Filename In Save Dialogue Box

Sep 28, 2010

I have a webform that creates a word document as it's ouput (yes I know it only works on IE).
function createWordDoc(){
Doctxt = "some text here"
var w=new ActiveXObject("Word.Application");
w.Visible=true;
w.Documents.Add();
w.Selection.Font.Name="Times New Roman";
w.Selection.ParagraphFormat.Alignment = 1;
w.Selection.TypeText(Doctxt);
w.Documents.Save();
}

My issue is with saving the file. At the moment, in the above code, it opens the save dialogue box, and populates the filename field with the first line of text in the document. What I want to be able to do is populate the filename field with a variable filename created by the function. I've tried the snippet below, which works with the dynamic filename, but it autosaves the file to "My Documents" folder without prompting. I need to be able to allow the location to be changed.
var FileName = "Myfile.doc"
w.ActiveDocument.SaveAs(FileName);

Prompt Dialogue Boxes And Validating Data?

Jan 30, 2011

I have two prompt dialogue boxes that ask the user the enter their name and their employee number.I am experiencing two errors. The first is, if a user enters their name incorrectly, using numbers for example, there is an error message that asks the user to re-enter their name using a string. If the user ignores the error message and enters a number a second time, the program accepts the entry, which it shouldn't.

The second error has to do with the employee number prompt. The prompt asks the user to enter an employee number that is equal to 6 digits, the program however accepts any number, less than or greater than 6 digits, which it shouldn't.I don't want the user to get away with entering anything incorrectly.

<script type="text/javascript">
// prompt the employer the enter the employee name and number
var employName = prompt ("Please enter the employees' name" , " ");[code].....

Dialogue / Input Box That Enables Right-Click & Emails Info

May 21, 2010

Way back in the day I did some old school HTML....but after many years not touching a web page I've kind of been thrown straight into the fire with some "wish list" items I'm trying to figure out. I've done plenty of searches and somewhat have an understanding of some of the basics of what I need to do...but I'm not the least bit comfortable with Javascript (I'm just assuming that this the language most applicable to what I'm looking for - and after the experience of my one day crash course with PHP I knew I needed to turn to some experts.

Okay I have a rather large web (about 150 pages) of historical transcriptions created with XHTML (with PHP headers and footers embedded). Generally speaking, I don't much like web pages that have right-click disabled and various other protections in place.....but I'm also the sort to obsessively cite my source material and give proper credits....as a researcher who's hard work has been plagiarized and passed off as the fruits of someone else's labor, I wholly understand why many are inclined to put such walls up.

JQuery :: Dynamically Add Radio Button - Handler To My Form On A Button Click ?

Jul 13, 2010

I am trying to produce a web form to allow wedding guests to RSVP. The form allows them to enter a name and select from a radio button whether they will be attending or not. If they select the "yes" radio button then a further pair of radio buttons are displayed for their meal preference.

They can then click a submit button or they can click another button to add another line for another guest which operates in exactly the same way. I've almost got this working, but it seems that the checkbox change handler is lost for the current guest when a new guest is added and the checkbox value is reset. I've got a feeling I'm doing something stupid but can't for the life of me figure out what.

Code (source file (renamed to .txt) also attached as I'm not sure the pasted code is too clear):

I thought this would be simple, but I can't seem to figure out how to target the text that the user types into an input field before he/she decides to "reset" and start over.

I'm thinking that my problem is that I can't find the correct syntax for my line: $('input.firstname').value('')

Javascript And Confirm

Oct 13, 2006

This is a weird one and I am wondering if someone can help?

I have a piece of Javascript
function deleteRequest(searchID) {
if (confirm('Are you sure?')){
location = "index.php?spDB=inactive&searchID="+searchID;
}
}

When the page gets reloaded, it runs a database query and something is
made inactive.

The problem is:

When the confirm box appears, if I press OK quickly, the database query
doesn't happen. If I wait 1 second and then press OK, it is fine and
the query is run.

Basically it appears that the time between the confirm javascript
appearing and the time taken to press the Ok button affects the
reloading of the page.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?
