Whenever firebug detects a js error on a page, it prevents you from interacting with the page, so you can't scroll, you can't click, you can't do anything except close the window.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having two Ajax-related problems on a page I am working on at the moment. [url] On this page, I have two buttons that use Ajax to fetch two separate forms and put them into a chosen div; that part works like a charm.
On said forms, there is a div that is meant to display any necessary error messages when the submit button is clicked. However, on the first time the page is visited and the form is chosen, the div won't display the error message. Only after refreshing the page/choosing the form a second time will the message show. I've been checking the response from the server via Firebug and the response is correct, it just seems like the page isn't updating correctly.
Secondly, once I refresh or choose the form again and the error message begins to show, if I enter values into the form fields and should be getting a different error message, it never updates. Once again, the server response is correct, but for some reason the page just isn't updating to reflect the new message.
I have been using the date field on the New Event form for testing; if you have Firebug, you should be able to see that I am getting the desired response from the server (look in the allErr div), but the HTML isn't changing with it. I have tried both using my own Ajax functions and using jQuery's Ajax implementation, but both give me the same problems.

In one of the frames I have an html page that contains an image, and when you mouse over the image it is supposed to fade up a little description box. Naturally when you move the mouse away, the box disappears. I have a javascript function that fades the image up and down, and it's activated via an onmouseover event that is attached to a div that contains no content, but lays over the image to define the triggering area.
I use Dreamweaver to preview my pages while they are stored on my computer, and everything works beautifully. However, once I upload the page to my site, that functionality disappears completely. Code:

You can run any javascript function or action you want that would change the source, but when you view it, it will always show the original source before a JS function changed it
Is there a way to view the changed source after each time a JS functoin changes it??
for example:

but when you right click and press 'view source"

I am relatively new to Java and am going to be taking a class on it next fall. For now though, I am trying to code for a client I am currently working with and am hopelessly lost. The client I am working with has an ecommerce site with Network Solutions which uses aspx. It allows you to code html and link to css, java (pretty much anything except php). The problem I am having is that they currently have their product descriptions coded in div tags:

What they want to happen is for the sections that have 'Not Available' as the answer to not show up on the live page. I have tried to use <ns:if condition="..."> but do not know how to call for it to see if the div says 'Not Available'.
could someone please point me in the right direction for creating an AJAX page that displays "live" data from a mysql database? I need the page to update its self every time data changes in a mysql table.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a website with 5 items, and I want them to move (meaning, if a more recent one is entered, remove the last item, and put the new one on top), they are 5 of the most recent items in the database table, now I've coded jquery as a test so it fades out the last one, the whole thing moves down, makes room at the top, and fades in a new one. However, it's a test and has 0 interaction with the database, the one that fades in is just in a hidden div. So the jQuery part is taken care of.So I'm unsure how to go about this, I was thinking maybe have ajax check a website off the page that has those 5 items in raw format, and if they change then to refresh?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a page that has several layers that I will either show/hide
based on a graphic/tab that the user clicks. (works perfectly)
On several of the layers there are forms that the user can update
information on. Well, after the user updates the information, I need
to 1.) refresh the data on the page(means a reload of the page), and
2.) take the user right back to were they started.
My problem is that when I refresh, the page goes back to the 1st layer
that is set as default to show.
So, here is what I did. I have two functions.
Function 1 is called when the user clicks on one of the tabs (Assets)
in this case. This will 1.) show the Assets tab and 2.) hide all the
rest of the tabs.
Well if I update that form for Assets, I need to 1.) refresh the data
and 2.) bring the user right back to Assets.
What I did for this (please tell me if there is a better way) was to
set a hidden field with the lastlocation of where the user clicked. In
this case the field value is now set to Assets.
So far everything is working great...
Well, if I submit the form because I've updating information, I need to
return back to the assets layer. To do this I set the location.url and
put a var in the url that I evaluate when I OnLoad the page. If the
value = Assets then I am able to show/hide the layers to get to the
Assets.
Again, this works great after much banging of my head against the
wall... Here come the problem.
Because I set the location.URL (I've also tried location.href) the
browser will automatically refresh. I do not want this. I want to set
the url and only refresh when I want to.
For example when I submit a form that updates data.
I've got 16 pages, one for each of 16 days. Then I've got index page. Where will be mine usual stuff but I want to add 16 visible buttons and under each button will be its content, let say for example a picture with some text. I need automatically when user open mine index for example 3rd to show 3rd picture with some text. Is that possible? To be more specific. I need some content to be automatically changed from 1st of January 2010 to 17th of January 2010.

the kind folks in this forum), I've tried to tackle something a bit
more difficult. I'm pulling data down from a database and populating a
simple table. I'd like the table to contain 10 entries per page and
have the option for the user to scroll through the pages of data
without having to go back to refresh the page (I've already pulled all
the info I need from the database). So, I've taken a stab at it and
this is probably not the best way to do it (so if you have a better
idea I'm open), but I think it will work. Right now I'm encountering
an 'Object Expected' error and I don't know how to interpret what it's

The search button opens a popup window that allows you to narrow down choices and select one that is in the drop down(that part works). However I can't seem to pass the parameter selected back to the drop down on the first page to have it as the selected item.
I am working with the scripts in the popup window, and I am trying:

forms(0) I think that is the first window.
Product(1) is the name of the drop down.
x is the value I am trying to assign.
