Coding Involving Div Tags - Sections That Have 'Not Available' As The Answer To Not Show Up On The Live Page
Feb 24, 2010
I am relatively new to Java and am going to be taking a class on it next fall. For now though, I am trying to code for a client I am currently working with and am hopelessly lost. The client I am working with has an ecommerce site with Network Solutions which uses aspx. It allows you to code html and link to css, java (pretty much anything except php). The problem I am having is that they currently have their product descriptions coded in div tags:
<div id='alternatebg'>
<div id='detailsgreybox'><div id='alternatename'><p>Alternate Name</p></div></div>
<div id='pd2'><p>Not Available</p></div>
</div>
<div id='usebg'>
<div id='detailsgreybox'><div id='use'><p>Use</p></div></div>
[Code]....
What they want to happen is for the sections that have 'Not Available' as the answer to not show up on the live page. I have tried to use <ns:if condition="..."> but do not know how to call for it to see if the div says 'Not Available'.

A small script which can be hosted on a server which you can put an url into and will show website with changes
Example, website/gallery with thumbnail images and want to change the "thumb" file to "original" file
Eg. Gallery view .../images/1a/thumbnail.jpg but want it to be able to view .../images/1a/original.jpg
I'm sure this is possible as i can't imaging it would be a very hard code but am not used to coding only basic html at the moment.

1. I am trying to figure out how to open a tab, open a show/hide within that tab, and link to a particular person from an incoming link.
2. I also am trying to figure out how to open a tab and then a pane within that tab from an incoming link.
This is the code used for the tabs
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("ul.main.tabs").tabs("div.main.panes > div", {tabs: 'a.main', history: true });
$("ul.nested.tabs").tabs("div.nested.panes > div", {tabs: 'a.nested', history: true });
});
</script>
This is the code used for the toggle
<script type="text/javascript">
// Andy Langton's show/hide/mini-accordion - updated 23/11/2009
// Latest version @ [URL]
$(document).ready(function() {
var showText='+/-';
var hideText='+/-';
var is_visible = false; .....

I have a nice search engine but its seems i can't put it twice on the same page:
<script language="JavaScript">
function startSearch(){
searchString = document.searchForm.searchText.value;
if(searchString != ""){
searchEngine = document.searchForm.whichEngine.selectedIndex + 1;
finalSearchString = "";
if(searchEngine == 1){
finalSearchString = "[URL]" + searchString;
} .....
How to put the code twice in the html page without creating a conflict as a result of identical codes?

I'm having with a sortable table script.
var sortableTable = new Class({:thumbsup:
getOptions: function(){
return {[code]....
It works flawlessly on my dev page: http:[url].....But I am having issues with is on my live page: http:[url].....My first thought is that it could be a labeling issue (ie: I forgot to remove "/dev" when moving the HTML over to live) but after reviewing for an hour, I don't believe this is the issue.

I've got an issue with the attached file.
I have 3 buttons & 3 divs.
I would like to hide/show the relevant divs (into a container) based upon the button pressed. If no div was open, then it would simply open the relevant div, however if say div 2 was open and div 3 was pressed, div 2 would toggle closed then div 3 would toggle open.
I've got each individual div opening and closing, but I'm stuck at the next point (checking if a div is open/toggling etc).

Does anyone know why this isn't working? The toggle function works perfectly fine with PHP loops, but when I insert the table td tr tags, it does not hide the loop when the page first loads...It just shows the results in the div which it shouldn't be doing.
Here's what my code looks like...
JS
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function toggle(element) {
if (document.getElementById(element).style.display == "none") {

I am new to jQuery. My background is C++ and C#. Once I have the html using selectors and filters is not hard to understand. My problem is understanding how to capture a live html page in jQuery and assign the page to an object which I can then use to extract information using basic selector and filter functions.

My background is C++ and C#. Using basic selectors and filters in jQuery is not a problem for me. My problem is finding the right jQuery code to capture a live html page and assign an object which contains all the html text I just captured... then I can use the object to apply basic selector and filter functions to create another page.

Basically I have site that uses iframes to load its content. In one of the frames I have an html page that contains an image, and when you mouse over the image it is supposed to fade up a little description box. Naturally when you move the mouse away, the box disappears. I have a javascript function that fades the image up and down, and it's activated via an onmouseover event that is attached to a div that contains no content, but lays over the image to define the triggering area.
I use Dreamweaver to preview my pages while they are stored on my computer, and everything works beautifully. However, once I upload the page to my site, that functionality disappears completely. Code:

Many ajax and javascript functions change the innerHTML of elements in the source, writing and rewriting things in the source
You can run any javascript function or action you want that would change the source, but when you view it, it will always show the original source before a JS function changed it
Is there a way to view the changed source after each time a JS functoin changes it??
for example:
<span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>
then you may run this piece of JS:
whatever.innerHTML= 'Changed source code!'
but when you right click and press 'view source"
you will always get this:
<span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>
I want to get the changed source code, maybe its possible to write the changed source code to another file, or use some kind of HTTP prog to read the changes on an html page?

I have 12 div sections on a page and I want the user to be able to
specify the order in which they appear on the page. I'm thinking of
something like this but want to ask what people think of this approach
and maybe suggest another way or an article on how to do this.
// grab the innerhtml by:
var theSpan1 = getElementById("span1")
var theSpan1HTML = theSpan1.innerHTML
// then grab the innerHTML of the span you want to "swap" it to:
var theSpan2 = getElementById("span2")
var theSpan2HTML = theSpan2.innerHTML
// and switch the innerHTML's of the span by:
theSpan1.innerHTML = theSpan2HTML
theSpan2.innerHTML = theSpan1HTML
<form>
<span id="span1">
<div id="div1">
<select size="1" name="ddlOrder1">
<option value="1">1</option>
<option value="2">2</option>
<option value="3">3</option>
</select>
Span1/Div1
</div>
</span>
<br />
<span id="span2">
<div id="div2">
<select size="1" name="ddlOrder2">
<option value="1">1</option>
<option value="2">2</option>
<option value="3">3</option>
</select>
Span2/Div2</div>
</span>
<br />
<span id="span3">
<div id="div3">
<select size="1" name="ddlOrder3">
<option value="1">1</option>
<option value="2">2</option>
<option value="3">3</option>
</select>
Span3/Div3</div>
</span>
<input type="submit" value="Save Profile" class="smalltext"

I've got a page that shows a number of packages available for sale. Each
package has a little description, and then a (sometimes long) list of
features for each package. I thought it would be a good idea to let
visitors hide the details for each package, so that they can see just
the summaries together. So I borrowed some code (can't remember from
where), which was designed for expandable/collapsible menu trees, and
used it to show/hide the details of the packages.
The code works fine, but the only problem is that when you hide a
section, the page doesn't resize itself. The text underneath moves up,
but below that a huge empty space is left. The scroll bars should change
to reflect the page's new (smaller) length, but instead they stay the
same, and let you scroll through all the empty nothing at the bottom of
the page.
I've tested the page is IE6 and Firefox 0.9 - I only have this problem
in Firefox, in IE the whole page shrinks and the scroll bars change
accordingly. Any suggestions? I though maybe I need to call some
javascript function to refresh/recalculate the page - I tried using
document.normalize() straight after the section got hidden, but it
didn't help. Any other such functions that might do the trick?
Here's the code:

I created this thread on the html forum but I'm not sure if it can be done with javascript, so I'll post here as well. I was wondering if there's a way to make various sections of the image clickable? The sections on the image are not rectangular so I can't make divs. I don't think I can use imagemap either since that only works for making one clickable area right? I already cut out these sections in photoshop and saved them with alpha background, and created a "glowing" version of each section, since I want to make it so that when mouse hovers over it, it will glow. But I can't stack them on top of each other, since if I do that only the topmost layer will be clickable for those areas where they will overlap with rectangular divs. This is example of what I mean: [URL]
