Moving Or "Live" Front Page - Cursebird/foursqare?

I have a website with 5 items, and I want them to move (meaning, if a more recent one is entered, remove the last item, and put the new one on top), they are 5 of the most recent items in the database table, now I've coded jquery as a test so it fades out the last one, the whole thing moves down, makes room at the top, and fades in a new one. However, it's a test and has 0 interaction with the database, the one that fades in is just in a hidden div. So the jQuery part is taken care of.So I'm unsure how to go about this, I was thinking maybe have ajax check a website off the page that has those 5 items in raw format, and if they change then to refresh?
i have to make a simple site for my sister and i am kind of a newbie at the whole web development thing am pretty ok with html tho. wo i was trying to make a slide show on the front page of the site, so i got a little help from a site called java script city,

I paid a student from the local university to do a basic Wordpress template install [url] for me but the jQuery slider on the front page seems to be hung and never finishes loading. Naturally I can no longer get a hold of the kid and the developer of the template requires a subscription fee for installation support.
It seems like an easy fix but I'm no code sleuth; if I knew what was wrong I'd be comfortable editing the appropriate file(s). Is there an easy way to bring this up in Firebug or something and determine what the problem is?
I am totally new to jquery but have had a bit of experience at other languages. I was just trying to make a front page with a changing background and a nice menu. Havent a clue where to start. Do i use dreamweaver etc.
I am trying to put an image on the front page of my website that changes to one of two random images on mouseover. This part was easy, and has been done (I got the code from [URL] But what I am finding difficult is to make each image link to a different page. For example, if the user mouseovers the main image and sees the 'thumbs up' image, then clicks on it, they should be taken to the 'thumbs up' page. And if the user mouseovers the main image and sees the 'thumbs down' image, then clicks on it, they should be taken to the 'thumbs down' page. My requirement is, I have multiple pages in tab format. If i am on first page in edit mode and change any control's value and without saving information i click on other tab that particular time a popup should appear showing validation message say "you are moving without save and it will loos all changes either click ok to loose the changes and move to other page or click cancel to remain on the current page."I tried using var isDirty = false; var msg = 'This page has unsaved changes.Click OK to abandon the changes and leave the page.Click Cancel to stay on the page so that you can save your changes.';
Doing my own fitness bootcamp site and want to fancy up my front page. My front page loads a picture and I want it to load like flash. What could I do? I have all the Adobe Software, just don't know how to use it.

It works flawlessly on my dev page: http:[url].....But I am having issues with is on my live page: http:[url].....My first thought is that it could be a labeling issue (ie: I forgot to remove "/dev" when moving the HTML over to live) but after reviewing for an hour, I don't believe this is the issue.
Is there a trick (with javascript or something) that can change a hidden value on a page directly from the browser without using "Firebug" software? for example: <input type="hidden" name="something" value="something_else"> I need to change "something_else" to "something_else_2"
I am developing an application and need to be able to use either JavaScript or PHP to request a page, add code to the end of it, and thenopen it for the user.What I want:
For my application I had developed one page that is having more fields at the of that page I am displaying some records and to select those one check box for each record. If user clicks on the select all link it has to check all the records, I am using java script . At this time screen moving to top, to see weather records are checked or not again browser has to scroll down.
I am new to jQuery. My background is C++ and C#. Once I have the html using selectors and filters is not hard to understand. My problem is understanding how to capture a live html page in jQuery and assign the page to an object which I can then use to extract information using basic selector and filter functions.

i have a table, with records pulled from a mysql database with users who can earn points. is there anyway i could have the points update live, insted of having to refresh the page?
I have an instance where I do some work in a page contained in an iframe and then need to either outright move or just copy the resulting page elements into the parent page. All of the back end stuff works fine, but the Javascript just runs and doesn't produce anything. The script in question:

I think I'm running into a restriction in Javascript, but I'm not 100% sure.
My background is C++ and C#. Using basic selectors and filters in jQuery is not a problem for me. My problem is finding the right jQuery code to capture a live html page and assign an object which contains all the html text I just captured... then I can use the object to apply basic selector and filter functions to create another page.
Basically I have site that uses iframes to load its content. In one of the frames I have an html page that contains an image, and when you mouse over the image it is supposed to fade up a little description box. Naturally when you move the mouse away, the box disappears. I have a javascript function that fades the image up and down, and it's activated via an onmouseover event that is attached to a div that contains no content, but lays over the image to define the triggering area.
I use Dreamweaver to preview my pages while they are stored on my computer, and everything works beautifully. However, once I upload the page to my site, that functionality disappears completely. Code:
Many ajax and javascript functions change the innerHTML of elements in the source, writing and rewriting things in the source
You can run any javascript function or action you want that would change the source, but when you view it, it will always show the original source before a JS function changed it
Is there a way to view the changed source after each time a JS functoin changes it??
for example: <span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>
then you may run this piece of JS: whatever.innerHTML= 'Changed source code!'
but when you right click and press 'view source" you will always get this: <span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>
I want to get the changed source code, maybe its possible to write the changed source code to another file, or use some kind of HTTP prog to read the changes on an html page?
I am designing a website for disabled football supporters and because of this, I obviously must consider accessibility to blind users whilst I am producing it - as they are one of the disability groups that I am targeting the page at.
The page basically consists of two frames; one being a vertical list of links positioned on the left hand side of the screen and the other being the main content pane, positioned in the remaining area of the screen on the right of the first frame. The first frame is used to drive the content of the second frame.
Now, I'm not sure if this is possible in JavaScript, or indeed in another scripting language, but what I want to do is to be able to alter the current focus or caret? on a web page when a link is clicked. That is, when the user selects a link from the left hand frame, then the new content is loaded into the right and the current focus jumps straight to this new information, as opposed to having to tab through all the same links again in order to put the focus there.
I know this is only a fiddly little thing but it is something that would really improve the usability of the site, especially with screen readers in mind.
I have an iframe somewhere on my page. Now on click of a link, I would like to show it in a different location on the same page, BUT I don't want it to reload again. I've tried this simple method but it doesn't do it because the iframe reloads in its new location.
