Im currently working on a project for class and have been directed to use Javascript for what im looking to do. Im a beginner when it comes to coding w/ javascript. Over the last couple days I've spent good time reading and practicing tutorials but have yet to do something I imagine is very basic for what I want to do.
At the moment, im looking to insert text into a webpage, that links to images. The images, ideally will layer on top of each other (Multiple images can be shown based on the "text" which activates it) Images shown, if done what im looking for, will have a transparent background to view images set behind one another. I've spent a couple hours looking up code through google, found similiar code which i've tried to manipulate to do what I want. I have yet to put something successful together. Was hoping I could look upon experience programmers to help me out by pointing me in the right direction. Im willing to do the work, just looking for that guidance
This is what I am seeking: On the main page we have 3 different images (img1, img2, img3), that must link to another page (photo page) with a photo in the middle enlarged: for example if I click img1 i will go to the photo page with img1 enlarged in the middle, and if I click img2 will go to the photo page with img2 in the middle. the photo page has photo thumbnail sliding at the bottom of the page that links to the same middle enlarged photo based on the clicked photo. is it doable with JS? or should I look somewhere else?
How do I link a cookie, presented in a div, to a text box on the same page - so it can be searched?
Now I have a search box that link to the Google Maps API. I also have the two most recently search items to show up as cookies below the map. My goal is to have the cookies show up as links so that when you click them, they show up in the text box to search.
I'm thinking of three ways to do this and wonder which is the best way to do it.
1) Can I just adjust the div tag to link to the text box?
2) Can I adjust the function relating to how the cookies are posted on the page?
What I want to do is a simple geo target for some ads I have. If a visitor from the UK or US views a page I want a specific ad to load up, if they are outside the UK or US a want a different ad to load up.
Is this possible with Javascript? I don't need a complicated PHP script, just this simple task.
First off I'm incredibly new to JavaScript and its likely I am going about this completely the wrong way. But gotta start somewhere. Also my apologise if I am posting in the wrong area.
Here's my problem. I have setup a site in CSS3/XHTML that I will use to display some of my photography (im a keen photographer) The way my Gallery will work will be using Submenu's then there will be a table of Thumbnails which I have setup.
The part I am stuck on is that I want people to be able to click the thumbnails and then the corresponding picture held in the next folder to be displayed in a CSS defined container in the center of the page.
So clicking _Images/Thumbnails/1.gif will bring up _/Images/1.gif in the CSS container For the life of me I cannot work out how to do it though. Here is my code so far.
I am trying to get the color of the list item 'SUBJECTS' to turn red on mouse over. I think my syntax must be wrong but I don't know how so. What can I do to fix it?
There is textbox, and 2 buttons in a web page. when the user clicks one of the button, the character 'A', should get printed on the textbox. and when the user clicks on the other button, 'B', should get printed on the textbox in the format 'AB'.
I have a pic saved on my computer and I cant get my script to point to it.even if i put the whole path in. am i not understanding how to point to an image.
This is the classic flying starfield script that i am playing with. how to change image
I downloaded a code for image mouse over effects. It works exactly how it's supposed to except when you first load the page, the images are not there. They do not appear and function until you actually roll the mouse over them.
1 - the pics wont show in the slideshow. Only the text follows through to the next window. Why?2 - when you click the button "markera alla bilder" (mark all pics) only half of the pics get checked. why?Heres the code:
/.../ <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> var checked = new Array();
I have done some ugly hacking in JavaScript before but nothing serious. Now I have decided to learn the language properly, so yesterday I threw together a function plotter that you can see here: balazsbotond dot hu/plotterThe script is here: balazsbotond dot hu/plotter/raphael-test.jsI use Google Chrome as my primary browser. My script works perfectly in every other browser (IE6, IE8, FF, Opera, Safari), but there are some problems in Chrome. Some functions do not work at all (exp()), some do not always work (sin(x) works, x*sin(x) works sometimes, 0.7*x*sin(x) never works). Since I am new to JS and this seems to be a very subtle problem, I have no idea where to start.
I have read that the use of eval() is not recommended because of performance and security reasons. erformance is not a problem here (eval is definitely better here than writing my own expression parser), but what about security? Did my use of eval introduce a security risk in my site (I find this quite unlikely because the whole thing runs on the client side but who knows...)?By the way, is there a way to detect if eval() was not successful? And finally, is there a reliable, cross-browser way of getting the client size of the window? I'm talking about the size without the title bar, toolbars, etc. My solution does not work in IE6 and IE8.
Does anybody know of any simple, stable plugin that does that ? been looking around and most of them bring slideshows, carousels, etc All i want is to put them into a static grid but not having to resize manually every pic that is uploaded.
I am a new designer trying to slog my way into using some of the neat tools available out there. I want to use a image slider I found called InnerFade. [URL]. I am using a ul with <a> and <img> in them and I want it to scroll from pic to pic.. this all seemed so easy when I started but I cannot see where I went wrong..
I have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything. To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.
I am new to javascript, and am having an issue, which I'm sure is elementary.. I found a script for expandable content, it suffices fine. As it stands, the script toggles images onclick. For example, whence the menu is collapsed, it displays "plus.gif" next to it, and when the menu is expanded, it displays "minus.gif" next to it.
Basically, what I would like to know is, thus: how would I change it to display text icons next to it? For example, in place of "plus.gif" I should like it to display "+" as actual text. I've dredged a number of places, however, I've found nothing. Furthermore, I cannot figure out how to do it.
I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right
I have an onclick() event handler wherein I want to change a value that then needs to be shown in a textbox on a form on the page......can anyone show me how this is done?
I have the following code:Code:<input type="text" name="email" value="Enter your email" nclick="document.contact.email.value =''" id="email"/>This works good, however I only want to make the value blank if it equals Enter your email, if it says anything else I don't want it to do that.
2 buttons next to each other, on a webpage button 1 makes (onClick) text 1 appear just beneath the button button 2 makes (onClick) text 2 appear just beneath the button
in each of the texts at the end there's a third button to make the text dissappear again
I am using prototype to add a "blind" up and down functionality when I click on a table element.
Now, i would like to toggle the [-] in the "altlink" span to match the state. Ie, if a person clicks on the table, the "formhide1" span will collapse, and the [-] should turn into a [+]. Visa versa, when the now collapsed "formhid1" span is expanded the [+] should turn into a [-] Code:
I use scriptaculous to retrieve the hotel names and area names from database in this page. My question is where it says step 3, Search for hotel, chain or location!. Type in syd for example and you see how it retrieves the values from database and shows them underneath. It works fine and the list is generated beautifully. Now I have to add the next step which is filling this text box (from step 3 where you typed syd in) with the value (of the item clicked on). For example once you typed sydney, if you click on Sydney, I want the text field to be filled with value sydney.
