JS Code: Linking Webpages With Different Shown Image (onclick)?
May 31, 2010
This is what I am seeking: On the main page we have 3 different images (img1, img2, img3), that must link to another page (photo page) with a photo in the middle enlarged: for example if I click img1 i will go to the photo page with img1 enlarged in the middle, and if I click img2 will go to the photo page with img2 in the middle. the photo page has photo thumbnail sliding at the bottom of the page that links to the same middle enlarged photo based on the clicked photo. is it doable with JS? or should I look somewhere else?

does anyone know a good online resource that shows you how to do image sliders on a web page? For example, I have a image and a arrow (image) above this and the position of the arrow is dependent on a value (which I have).

I'm trying to find a JQuery plugin that will:
a) preload all img's and background's on a given page
b) display an animated gif in the center of the original's img's or background's container
c) fade out showing each image once it's downloaded
d) as a consequence of (a) allow the page to render (show) quicker even if (depending on server speed, connection speed and user computer speed) the remaining images are still in a 'load state'.
e) is based on JQuery so not to increase page's footprint via adding Mootools, Prototype, YUI or the like (unless the additional 100KB or so is so worth it).
I've scouted Google and there a few out there but amazingly none seem to focus on doing this for a web page's image's but rather seem to focus on galleries/lightbox windows and so forth.

Im currently working on a project for class and have been directed to use Javascript for what im looking to do. Im a beginner when it comes to coding w/ javascript. Over the last couple days I've spent good time reading and practicing tutorials but have yet to do something I imagine is very basic for what I want to do.
At the moment, im looking to insert text into a webpage, that links to images. The images, ideally will layer on top of each other (Multiple images can be shown based on the "text" which activates it) Images shown, if done what im looking for, will have a transparent background to view images set behind one another. I've spent a couple hours looking up code through google, found similiar code which i've tried to manipulate to do what I want. I have yet to put something successful together. Was hoping I could look upon experience programmers to help me out by pointing me in the right direction. Im willing to do the work, just looking for that guidance

I have to create a website which features Javascript. I created a calendar which shows small images for specific dates (trying to keep it interesting, hearts for valentines day etc...). Text looks quite dull.
Anyway, I was able to get the code to work successfully, when the image is linked absolutely to the file. However, if I try to change it so that it's relatively linked to the file, it appears as a broken file. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but I have to transfer all of the files to a disc, and so the images will end up broken.Is there anyway I can link the files without them appearing broken? I've tried most things I can think of.
Sample code:
// New Years Day
if (m==1 && d==1) {
objEvent = new EventObj(m,d,y, "<center><img src='file:///E:/ICT/Website/mysite/Balloons-32.png'>
[code]....

I'm having a tabbed panel where the 1st div is originally shown with display: block and the other 3 are display:none to hide, obviously. I want each div to have their own link where if you click the link for div 2 it hides the previous and shows that one etc.
Here's what I originally have:
That successfully hides tab 1 and shows tab 2 but I don't know how to do it properly so it hides the previously shown one. One tab should always be shown.
Image attached to show what I mean.

Here's what I usually use and have been using for years and it works great, just not for this particular purpose. I don't have a clue when it comes to javascript.
<noscript><img src="no_script_quote.gif" width="406" height="94"/></noscript><script language="javascript">
var delay=6000
var curindex=0
[code]....
But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics.

I'm trying to gather some information on any techniques or even plans to change the fundamental nature of the way the internet and http requests work. From both an advertising, and a usability perspective, the concept of a page load is becoming obsolete. Users expect instant results, and advertisers are becoming more concerned with time on site than they are with page views. You don't need a full page view to have an ad impression anyway. That said, there are plenty of techniques to make it so that your page can load new information without reloading the whole page. The problem is there doesn't seem to be any good way of making it so that AJAX calls can be linked to.
My site has a somewhat weak implementation of this: [URL]
Notice that it links you to the "APM" tab of that page, and if you click the other tabs they're all loaded via AJAX? You'll probably notice that initially it loaded the "Overview" tab, and after the page loaded, it then switched you to the APM tab. That's wonky behavior, and I don't like it, but there's not much that can be done about it as far as I know. The problem is, as far as I know, this deep linking technique becomes increasingly difficult to implement the more variations you have on a page's data.
For example, if you have pagination, then you need to make your deep linking code support all those variations as well. So my question is, is there a way to easily, FULLY AJAX a website, complete with the ability to deep link to any page state, without any wonky behavior (e.g. loading the "base page" first, and then after it's loaded, switching the data)? If not, has anyone heard of any plans to fundamentally rewrite the nature of HTML and HTTP requests so that web pages are no longer based on page loads, but state changes?

<html>

<body>
<img src="mchief1.jpg" />
<script type="text/javascript">
var tehImg = $('img[src="mchief1.jpg"]');

</body>
</html>
In Chrome, the second image is shown, while in IE the first one is.

I'm working with an existing slideshow that's not built with jQuery. I basically need to load an image after the DIV containing the slideshow image is shown. TheDIV will also have an attribute that contains the URL for the image to be loaded.Here is the code.<div style="display: none" rel="http://pathtoimage"></div> What I was is for some jQuery that monitored when the DIV was shown (remove the display: none) and then take the image in the attribute and inject it into the DOM.

I would like to hide several <div> tags when the page loads, but put it on a timer so after the page is finished loading the fade in. In the meantime whilst the page is loading, a image is shown. It's for a radio player i'm working on, the page takes around 5seconds to load fully, and so thought a loading image would be better to look at than half loaded <div> tags.

I am currently in Web Design I class. I do not yet know javascript. However, I am currently making a music page and I am using the Phatfusion Image Menu as my navigation. What the Image Menu does is it cascades and expands when moused over, revealing an image, which can be a link. When clicked, the image stays in it's expanded form so that the user can see which page he/she is currently on. The problem is that I can get the menu to work correctly and open a new window, but that is not what I want it to do. What I want is for the menu to stay expanded (without refreshing) when an image (link) is clicked, but I want the rest of the page to change.
I believe that the problem is in the javascript: I don't know how to code in javascript well.
Here is the section I am currently looking at.
Code:
Right now, alert makes a javascript alert telling the user the link. If I change alert to open, it opens the link in a new window. How do I get a new page to load without reloading the menu? I want the page to load behind the menu.
The links I am using are here:
Code:
This is the main javascript code if it is needed.
Code:

I have a page with a large centre-aligned image on it. I want a
functionality whereby users can click their mouse on any point in this
image and it would then show a virtual mouse pointer at the place where
they clicked it. If they were to click somewhere else, the position of
the virtual cursor would change.
The position of the cursor needs to dynamically generate a link and
display it in a form field text edit box.
If that link is then viewed separately, it would launch the same page
with the virtual mouse pointer at the location where the original
person placed it.
Basically I want to be able to have one guy point to a location on the
image for the benefit of another guy, but graphically as opposed to
relying on written explanation.

Below is a very simple jquery slideshow script which functions exactly as it should. But, if I link an image in the DIV set (See proposed change section) the slideshow breaks, instead of cycling through each image in turn it keeps trying to cycle the first image over and over. Script linking in header of HTML page:
<script type="text/javascript" src="script/jquery-1.2.6.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="script/slideshowsc.js"></script>
CSS on HTML controlling DIV position/opacity
#slideshow {
position:relative;
height:186px;
}
#slideshow IMG {
position:absolute;
top:0;
left:20px;
z-index:8;
opacity:0.0;
}
#slideshow IMG.active {
z-index:10;
opacity:1.0;
}
#slideshow IMG.last-active {
z-index:9;
}
DIV setup in HTML page
<div id="slideshow" style="padding-top:15px; text-align:center; width:540px; padding-bottom:43px;">
<img src="images/did-u-know1.png" width="499" height="186" border="0" class="active" />
<img src="images/did-u-know2.png" width="499" height="186" />
<img src="images/did-u-know3.png" width="499" height="186" />
</div>
Proposed Changi in DIV Code here
<div id="slideshow" style="padding-top:15px; text-align:center; width:540px; padding-bottom:43px;">
<a href="whatever.html><img src="images/did-u-know1.png" width="499" height="186" border="0" class="active" border="0" /></a>
<img src="images/did-u-know2.png" width="499" height="186" />
<img src="images/did-u-know3.png" width="499" height="186" />
</div>
Finally, Javascript / Jquery fired through body tag onload
function slideSwitch() {
var $active = $('#slideshow IMG.active');
if ( $active.length == 0 ) $active = $('#slideshow IMG:last');
// use this to pull the images in the order they appear in the markup
var $next = $active.next().length ? $active.next()
: $('#slideshow IMG:first');
// uncomment the 3 lines below to pull the images in random order
// var $sibs = $active.siblings();
// var rndNum = Math.floor(Math.random() * $sibs.length );
// var $next = $( $sibs[ rndNum ] );
$active.addClass('last-active');
$next.css({opacity: 0.0})
.addClass('active')
.animate({opacity: 1.0}, 1000, function() {
$active.removeClass('active last-active');
});
}
$(function() {
setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 8000 );
});

I'm having an issue with a javascript image slider that I downloaded and have implemented. You can see the page I am working on here...[URL]. And the script is at [URL]. It works fine on my Mac browsers, and then fine on Windows Firefox, but it's when I try it on IE it breaks. Or rather doesn't even show up. The other issue I've occasionally noticed is that an image won't load and shows as a broken image link, even though the image is there and is referenced correctly. This is an issue across the board, and only happens randomly.

I'm working on a gallery site using galleriffic. It is composed of 13 seperate galleries (couldn't figure out a way to integrate them into one) and what I would like is an index page which users can jump to any specific image in a gallery. [URL]. There is a current example, and what I'm trying to do is make a drop down menu form where someone could select a piece of granite, (eg. Giallo Latina) and it would jump them straight to that page. However if I link to "butterscotch.html#5" it doesn't work. Is there any way of creating a drop down menu that could handle this?

I am using ContentFlow from [URL] It is very well documented on their website. I got the whole thing working great on my site. What I don't know is how to change the ActiveItem onclick to just bump it over to the next image as if the next image had been clicked. As of right now it opens the image source in a self window. I don't want that. Can anyone give me a clue or maybe the whole answer on how to get it to click over to the next image? I believe the answer lies in the contentflow_src.js file.

I am trying to make a point and click javascript game. Basically what I want is to have one image displayed on screen at the start (room1.jpg). When you click on a door on that image, I have an onclick event to change the image to a new one that shows the door open (room1_a.jpg). What I want is that when you click the now open door, to display the next room in the game. The only solution I can think of is some sort of nested onclick event using several image maps, but I am fairly new to Javascript and I am not sure if that is possible. What it all comes down to is I want to display each incarnation of each room in the game in the same window without having to reload a new window for each room. I hope that makes sense, if not I can try and clarify. Below is the code I have so far. And as you can see all that does is display the open door when you click on the image. I have not done any of the image mapping yet.
