Loading A Styled Panel On The Page - Possibly Based On A Timer?

Feb 16, 2010

Does anyone have any recommendations/experience for loading a styled panel on the page (possibly based on a timer)? Do you know when you're on a site and a window pops up asking if you need help or want to chat... that's what I'm looking to accomplish. Something more than just text... I want a fully styled panel.

Start My Timer On Page Load?

Mar 6, 2011

I've got the following working timer code...

All works great. At the moment I have to press the button to start the timer, but I want the timer to start automatically on page load (and keep the stop/start button to work of course, so the button has to show Stop instead of Start on page load).

Which Method Will Make The Page Load Faster - Calling Code From A .js File 50 Times Slow Down Page Load?

May 12, 2011

I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.

I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.

So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:

Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?

JQuery :: Cycle Display Issue In IE First Page Load Only

Apr 26, 2011

I have an issue with JQuery Cycle plugin that only appears in IE (version 8, but probably also others), and only appears the first time the page is loaded. Clearing the cache, clearing cookies, etc, does not allow the problem to be reproduced a second time.On first page load, the slideshow briefly flashes what look like 'broken image' icons, before loading images properly. The images then start to cycle, but with a small square appearing at top left corner, and the transition from slide to slide apparently being erratic, and going to blank slides.[code]

Randomizing DIVs - Display Only One Of The Tags On Each Page Load

I have five DIV tags that contain a photo and brief bio for partners of an accounting firm. I need to randomize these DIV tags (id="d1" - "d5") to display only one of the tags on each page load. Normally, I would do this with ColdFusion but the client isn't willing to purchase the language support for their hosting system. A sample of one of the DIVs is below.

I am building a web page that has tab panels that hide and show information depending on which one is selected. Timer Redirect To Main Page?

Oct 25, 2011

My project is for a scuba diving shop, and they would like to have a touchscreen in their shop. Users can use this touchscreen to browse through the various courses that the scuba diving shop offers. I have the home screen, and the several different pages for each course.

The Problem: Users will sometimes select a course they're interested in, and then leave the screen after using it. Leaving the page on the course and not on the main page for the next user.

I dreamt up a solution for this, however I'm yet to find out how I can go about implementing this. The Solution:Make a timer that appears after 5 mins of being idle and gives the user one more minute to move the mouse (or any activity) before it redirects back to the main screen.

Research:From my research I've come to the conclusion that something like this is possible, using Javascript and I've had a play around myself but to no avail. Here is the script I was trying:

Loading External JS Before Page Page Load (specific Span Element)

Jul 19, 2010

My goal is to load the JS for a specific element before displaying that element. I integrated a third part script, and it works well. I set the timer here:

The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script>

About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to.

When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00.

I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top.

Go To Next Page - Load The First Page Of A Series Of Pages Into An Iframe When You Click A Link

Aug 15, 2006

1. Load the first page of a series of pages into an iframe when you click a link
2. On each click load the next in order page
3. When last page has loaded if clicked again will start from the beginning.

What I am doing: I am creating a tutorial for a friend who cannot figure out how to use her new rental management program. I could use a manual slide show to have her click for the next image however, there are a LOT of tutorial images which show her what to do at that point. Her program contains a great number of setup screens, report screens etc. This means the slide show would be sitting there loading all these images before it will work. So, I figured, OK make a page with an iframe, and then I could put each image on it's own little page i.e. page1, page2 etc. Place a little button, or a next link, then have the link load the pages into the iframe in order.

Edit A Web Page Using A Editor And Display New Content In Same Page

Aug 18, 2010

I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text.

Now, I need help for the below issues:

1. Suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages.

2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page.

I'm working with a javascript/jquery framework that allows me to build crossbrowser plugins. What i'm looking to do is add a floating DIV onto every page the browser loads. I know that to add css onto a page, normally you need to grab a class or id. However, in this case i do not know what classes/div's are available. What would be the best way to add css onto a loaded page after the page is loaded without knowing any classes/id's?
