Window.open Scroll Bars Not Showing In IE8
Mar 1, 2011using window.open to open a popup, the "scrollbars=1" thing is not working in IE8 for some reason (the window opens, its just that the scroll bar that isn't showing).

No Scroll Bars Showing Up In Any Browser
Dec 2, 2009I made this webpage. It runs with a simple javascript function that changes the content in the window when you click on the menu buttons. the only problem is there are no vertical scroll bars when viewed in any browser. There seems to be a place for them but no actual scroll bar. I tried modifying the color and such with cs but it didn't change anything.

Close Parent Window - Make The Scroll Bars And Drop Down Boxes Not Trigger The Function?
Jan 4, 2011Ok so I have a site that I want to automatically close the window when the focus is lost from the page. For example, if the user clicks off the page to something else on there desktop I want the page to close. So far I have managed to do this but the grids on my page and the scroll bars all trigger the close function when clicked on. Is there anyway to make the scroll bars and drop down boxes not trigger the function?

Open New Window Without Title & Address Bars In Firefox?
Aug 31, 2009cannot get a new (picture) window to open in Firefox without the title and address bars (or anything else, just the image). IE shows just the title bar, with or without the code:

The window opens fine, but always shows the address and title bars. I have read the W3 Schools options list (and other posts) and tried both 'no' and '0' as values, without any success. What am I missing and is there any way to make this work - it didn't even work in the W3 Schools 'try it yourself' test page!

Detecting Scroll-bars On DIV
Jul 22, 2004I having a wrapper DIV (certain width say 400px) and i have some child DIVS which i want to add to it. And i want it to have a maximum height of 600px say.
I DONT want the wrapper DIV to have vertical scroll bars so i would like to add as many child DIVS (which contain text of indiscriminant length) until i can somehow detect that the wrapper has overflowed (ie the scrollbars have been implemented !) if it has then remove the last one and dynmically create a new DIV, and continue the cyclw until exhausted of child DIVS. Datagrid That Uses Scroll Bars ?
Feb 19, 2010I am looking for a Javascript Datagrid that will populate based on database driven data, but also allows the data in the list to scroll sepereately from the Header. This is so I can allow users to sort data without making another database call on each sort.
For instance, I have used this Javascript and it looks and works great, except the header scrolls with the data....

That works great with dynamic database data....but the header dissapears when using a scroll bar.
I am looking for something that works like this, but is not ajax and does not query the database with each sort. [url]
See how the data scrolls, but the header stays put? The pagination onthat example is not needed and in fact I would rather it didn't have that capability.
I want that functionality, but with Javascript.
Creating Presentation Without Showing Load Bars?
Jun 30, 2010Any way to create a presentation on a website WITHOUT showing load bars? Background info: it is about photography website where someone after seeing full size picture could click to view it in a room setting. Right now my developer created a presentation where full size picture zooms out then there is a load bar (hideous) and then the presentation starts. So it looks like it is 2 different parts and I would like to make it into one smooth presentation. Btw: would like if possible avoid flash animation due to recent developments on Apple's side.

Reverse Scroll Bars For Chatroom
Jul 15, 2009I have created this chatroom using php and scriptaculous but I am stuck with a tiny issue which I believe is only solvable using Javascript.
I have attached 2 screen shots. 1.jpg is what I get at the moment and 2.jpg is what I want to get.
As you see when somebody sends message and the messages exceed pages size, the scroll bars appear, I need the scroll bar to be the oposite direction (down to top) like yahoo or msn or any other chat room.
Magnifier Using CSS - Scroll Bars In Safari ?
Sep 11, 2011I have written a magnifier (using both CSS and JavaScript), and it appears to work OK in the four browsers I have tested (IE9, FF3.5.7, Safari 5.1, and Opera 11.51).
However, Safari annoyingly puts in scroll bars when you are magnifying the picture.
I can get rid of this by making the ctrlDiv offset as hidden, but then this removes the bottom scroll bar completely in all browsers (not really useful if the document is bigger than the browser window).
I have read about putting the image as a background image of another element, but cannot for the life of me get this to work at all.
Also, the functions to return the absolute position of elements (and mouse pointer) does not work if the document has a margin (i.e. width:1216px;margin:auto) - but I can work around this at the moment.

However, I would like to have a Javascript slider on the topmost page scroll the iframe. It was possible to make a link on the topmost page change the content of the iframe by putting the iframe name in the link's target. Is this possible with a slider? I ask this because some of the content inside the iframe is on external pages so obviously we can't add the scroll bar there.

I want the left table cell to have an up arrow and a down arrow below those pictures where the user can scroll (down and up) and see other pictures, which when clicked on will show a larger image to the right. It's setup now as you will see for the larger image to appear to the right. It's just not setup for this scroll function where the user can click on an up arrow or down arrow to make the users see the other pictures in the table cell. Also this section should not have a scrollbar show up when the pictures are being scrolled down to see. I'm not sure on how to proceed with this.

What doesn't work is the hiding of the div that is not required, if it is already open. Viewing in firebug shows that the appropriate classes are being applied - I suspect the reason is that slideToggle has been somehow set and cannot be unset via another object - but perhaps that is not it at all?
