Use The OnResize() Event To Dynamically Resize A Webpage?

View 10 RepliesI am looking to resize my entire webpage down to specific smaller resolution and add it to an iframe. I do not need it to "auto-resize" depending on viewpoint, just shrink it to a smaller size.How can I use javascript to resize the entire page to my dimensions?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set a div width through the onresize event. For some reason, I am able to set the height ok. When setting the width, it will set once and then both the height and the width will not respond to the onresize event anymore. I basically want the div to resize whenever the browser is resized.
To demonstrate what I mean, copy and paste this code into a htm file. Add long strings of text to the div so that it will scroll both horizontally and vertically. Notice when resizing, the resize will get called once, but when resizing again it will not. Comment out the width line, and now the resizing will always get called.
Here is the code:
I'm trying to develop a function to resize a control upon window resize. In regular javascript I would make a global array of control names and append code to the event that cycles through and resizes each control.For example
var proportionalizedImages=new Array();
proportionalizedImages.push(document.getElementById(ctrl));
if (window.addEventListener)[code]....
I'm wondering if there's a more elegant way to do this in jQuery. I've played around with it a bit, but i'm unsure how to get the control object to the resize function triggered by window resize without a global variable.
jQuery.fn.resize = function(max_size) {
$(window).bind('resize', $(this), resizeTriggered);
}[code]....
I need to refresh page cathcing "onResize" event.
I wrote this code:
<body onResize="javascript:winodw.location.reload(true); return true;">
On I.E. it works, but it doesn't work on Firefox.
I want to preserve a 16/9 aspect ratio to the window after any resize, making the width a function of the height.
As I have a window.resizeTo() inside the window.onresize event function, the infinite loop is served. How may I quit it?
<html><head><title>Title</title><script languaje="javascript">
const c_ra=16/9;
window.onresize = function WindowReSize() {
var myWidth = 0, myHeight = 0;

I am trying to dynamically resize an image. Here is my code:
<img border="0" src="images/right.gif" width="16" height="100" name="right">
<SCRIPT Language=Javascript>
<!--
function ChangeImgSize(){
[Code]....
The image does not get resized. I've been testing the page on current browsers (IE 8, Firefox, Chrome). I'm certain I'm doing something newbish, I don't really know Javascript all that well.
I am building iframes from database entries. Is it possible to resize them with an onclick event?
View 1 Replies View Related...Is it possible with Javascript? I have a Coldfusion template page which has on it three buttons that link to three more seperate Coldfusion template pages calling its content from a database. Since the content in these pages varies, my aim is to have the window resize itself to fit the content appropriately and negate having to use the scroll bars.
View 14 Replies View Relatedknow how I can use JavaScript to find the size of my iFrame and feed it to Shadowbox to launch the appropriate sized shadowbox on different browsers and resolutions. For me, the parent page is called 'demo.html' and the iFrame is 'gallery/archive_iframe.html'.
Currently, the shadowbox is launched with a fixed height and width (which you will see in the HTML code below). The problem is that 'gallery/archive_iframe.html' displays differently on every browser and every resolution, causing unwanted horizontal and vertical scroll bars. An example can be seen here: [URL]
Here is the code that I use in 'demo.html' to launch the iFrame:
Head
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/shadowbox/libraries/mediaplayer/jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/shadowbox/shadowbox.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src='/shadowbox/libraries/mediaplayer/swfobject.js'></script>
[Code]....
What do I need to do in 'gallery/archive_iframe.html' if anything? My thought is that I need to wrap it in a DIV tag and find the width and height of that. And what do I need to do in 'demo.html'? I'd assume some code is needed to pull the dimensions discovered in my iframe document, and insert those into the link that launches Shadowbox.
An example of the resizing of an image can be seen here as well as at most photography galleries that are full-screen. You can see the size of the image change by shrinking your browser window. I want to make that gallery using javascript. I already have the ability to make a horizontal slider with left/right navigation - that part is easy. I just have never done anything with dynamic image sizes.One thing that was brought up to me already was the ability to shrink the browser window to fit.
View 2 Replies View Relatedcompare the original code with mine before I explain the issue:
jquery waypoint demo:
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.top').addClass('hidden');
$.waypoints.settings.scrollThrottle = 30;
[Code]....
The issue: the sticky class is added. Fine. But when I resize the window, it disappears, which does not happen with waypoint original demo.
I thought that maybe the problem could be that #nav parent element is <body>. But the same issue exists if I add a #wrapper div.
I am currently trying to use Javascript to dynamically resize a navigation div (that is present on every page) according to the size of the main content div.
I am currently using the following code;
Code:
This works the first time I go to the site and if I refresh a page. However, if I use my on site navigation to switch between pages the div simply uses the height variable defined within my CSS (this needs to be here for users with JS disabled)
Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem might be. It's as if the script is only executed the first time any page on the site is loaded, but then not again.
I need an event that checks if the size of a DIV has changed. The "resize" event works in IE but not in FF. Or, more precisely, The "resize" event works in FF but NOT for resizing DIVs. Is there an event that works like the "resize" event but also can be used in with DIVs in FF?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently in the process of making a spreadsheet like webpage and it all working fine... However I have been using setAttribute and removeAttribute in order to dynamically change a table cells onclick property.
This of course does not work in IE7 etc and I've been banging my head against a brick wall trying to come up with a solution that will work in all browsers but I just can't seem to get it to work with using methods such as...
I get all sorts of not implemented, type mismatch errors when I try to use the above.
Below is the setAttribute code which works.
I'd like to use JavaScript to dynamically change the cursor style of the entire web page but I can't seem to get the phrasing correct. The following does not work:
Code:
document.body.style.cursor="help";
I got this problem with live() event.I have used it as follows.
$(".addressDiv span").live("mouseover", function(){
//clickable function here......
------------------------
});
I have used the live() event to trigger the function on mouseover in the dynamically added elements. But the problem i got is that once the live event is called it takes the class of the element and stores. And when the class of that particular element is changed dynamically the live() event does not detect the new classed added dynamically, instead it takes the former class. Live() event does not update the class.

I thought this will be a simple question, but it seen like hard to find a fast and simple solution. I am working on an online sign in tool. Two browser windows are open at the same time. One is for people to sign in with password and submit their information; another one is for Administrator to see who sign in. I am trying to refresh the Administrator page whenever user finished sign in and submitted their information. These two pages cannot be parent and child page. What will be the easiest way to solve this in ColdFusion or JavaScript?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI want to stop the flowplayer video player when the page loses focus. Either another tab is being viewed or another app is in focus...
I tried (document).blur, ("#pagewrapper").blur, ("#pagewrapper").mouseout...
I have everything working except the page.blur... I can't seem to find an event that will work for this.
I create buttons from an array of objects that such as:
buttons = [{ text: "button 1", action: 1}, {text: "button 2", action: 2}];
I then loop thru the array to assign the text and bind the click event after having created the buttons with IDs of "button_<index>".
for( var index in buttons ) {
$("#button_"+index).html ( buttons[index].text )
.click( function() { clickButton( buttons[index].action ) } );
}
The text appears correctly in the button, but every button defined only fires the list bound click, in this example the action equal to'2'whether I push "Button 1" or "Button 2".My actual case has four buttons, all firing the event for the fourth button.I've tried not chaining the .click(), going thru the loop twice once for the .html and once for the .click, neither of which made a difference. If I hard code each button .click, it works fine.
How can I change my text or font size when the user changes the browser size. Example: When the browser is maximized, the font goes to normal, when the browser window decreased, the font size is reduce.

I'm having a problem getting the window.onresize to work properly. Here
is a simple test case I wrote:

When I load this page in firefox (1.0.6). I get the alert box that pops
up on initial load, but any subsequent resizing of the window fails to
trigger the event. It's probably something really simple, but so far
I'm stumped.
