Use Image Instead Of Type="button"?

Sep 19, 2010

I am trying to add a pulldown menu with a button to my website. I have successfully done this with a javascript I found online here to give credit: [URL] I tried to modify the form so it will use an image file instead of the default button. To troubleshoot I took the relevant code and put into a seperate html file. This one is using the default code from the site referenced above. This is the page published online: [URL]

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Create New <button> Tag With A Specified Type

Nov 24, 2009

I am creating a new <button> this way:

newBox = document.createElement("button");
newBox.setAttribute("class","custom");
newBox.innerHTML = "<span><span>" + element[j].getAttribute("value") + "</span></span>";

[code].....

But I need to change the type of the button to "button". Every time I try to change the type to either "button" or "submit" my browser just freezes. but If I change the button type to reset it works fine. Is there another way to change the type other than button.type = "" and button.setAttribute("type","")?

Button Type And Form Script

Apr 21, 2002

I downloaded a script to print a page. It didn't work. I downloaded another, and it did work, but I don't like the button type (actually, I'd prefer to have no button at all, and just text). Can I change the input type=button to input type= something else to make the text a link to the printer function? What is that something else?

Also, I would like to add a form to my site which asks the visitor to choose one of three options and supply his/her name and e-mail address. I downloaded a cgi script, but it didn't work (I'm not hosted yet). Is there any way to e-mail the form to me without using a cgi/server? If so, what is it?

Use Onclick For Submit With Input Type 'button'?

Sep 28, 2011

URl...The idea is a like button, like on fb, in a form which updates a db field I can use to display the number of likes, and my goal is to disable the like button for the rest of the session, or a day, or whatever. This script disables it onclick, the problem is I can't figure out how to get it to submit the form as well.I have found it does submit if the input type is 'submit', but then it doesn't call the disable function. I tried writing another function to submit the form but no go.[code]

INPUT Type=image In IE

Jul 23, 2005

I noticed that the image input type does not show up in the elements
array (IE 6.0).

<FORM name=myForm>
<INPUT name=rads id=check1 type=radio value=val1>
<INPUT name=rads id=check2 type=radio value=val2 checked>
<INPUT name=rads id=check3 type=radio value=val3>
<INPUT name=rads id=check4 type=radio value=val4>

<INPUT name=imgIn type=image src=web.gif>
<INPUT type=button name=somethin>
</FORM>

If I have this HTML code, the myForm.elements.length is 5, instead of
the expected 6. You can click on the image in this case, and it acts
like a submit button... proof that the broser recognizes it as part of
the form.

So, if I call myForm.elements[4], I get the button, not the image.

It seems goofy to me, and I cannot find any documentation that explains
why this is.

Of course, I can get access to the object in many other ways... I am
just curious if the is an IE bug.

Getting At <input Type=image ...> Coordinates

Jul 23, 2005

When I click on the image form element

<INPUT type=image name=point src="map.png">

point.x and point.y values get submitted to the server
specifying where on the image I have clicked.

Is there any (simple) way to get ahold of that point.x and
point.y BEFORE they are sent to the server (and prevent
that from happening)? Ie. I just want the points where
someone clicks on an image and not interested in a submission
to the server.

Remove Image.x And Image.y From The Url When Image Button Used?

Oct 11, 2011

I use an image button to post a form. Let's say the button is on A.php and form target is B.php. when clicked, B.php comes but with extra arguments in the url. As far as I understand they are the coordinates of the point I clicked on the button image.

<input name="image" type="image" class="search_button_big" title="Search" value=" " src="img/dot.png" />
....B.php?image.x=38&image.y=24ℑ=+

When I remove name property additional arguments in the url simplifies as follows:

<input type="image" class="search_button_big" title="Search" value=" " src="img/dot.png" />
...B.php?x=78&y=31

How can I prevent these x and y's?
