Setting Restrictions - DIV In Table ?

Sep 14, 2010

I currently have a table that shows a background image and I have 1 TD with 100% width and height and in that TD I have a DIV that moves by margin-left and margin-top via JavaScript and the height is approx 20px by 20px, so basically I have a map with a character that moves when keys are pressed.

My problem is I'm having trouble setting limits (where the character cannot go inside the TD). etc if it reachs a X and Y then it would stop, but it's not that easy, I currently have this in a IF function when the keys are pressed:

But that code doesn' work correctly because I want the numbers in exclude.x to match the oppisite of exclude.y so 50 and 50, 50 and 60 but instead its like this 50 and 50 or 60 or 70 or 80 or 90.

I just want it to be set so it matches the number...

Setting Values In Table Without GetElementsById?

Jul 23, 2005

I am currently getting/setting values in an HTML table with:

document.getElementById(id).childNodes[0].nodeValue

where "id" is the id of the <td> tag of the cell.

However, I have a few <td> tags that could have the same ID's but in
different forms of the document.

How do I gain access to those "elements" if the ID's are ambiguous and I
know the name of the form? Also, what says the jury for non-unique ID's in
the same document?

Setting InnerHTML Reformats Table

Jun 25, 2006

I have some column headings whose widths are set via styles:

<TR>
<TD style="visibility:hidden;width:0px">&nbsp;</TD>
<TD style="visibility:hidden;width:0px">&nbsp;</TD>
<TD style="visibility:hidden;width:0px">&nbsp;</TD>
<TD class="head1" style="WIDTH: 120px">Stage</TD>
<TD class="head1" style="WIDTH: 90px">Est. Hours</TD>
<TD class="head1" style="WIDTH: 90px">Est. Delivery</TD>
<TD class="head1" style="WIDTH: 90px">Est. Cost</TD>
<TD class="head1" style="WIDTH: 200px">Comment</TD>
</TR>

When I set the value of a span in a cell using javascript

<TD><Span class="head1" id="TotalHours"
style="width:60px;text-align:right"></span></TD>

idTotal = document.getElementById("TotalHours");
idTotal.innerHTML = total;

all of the table columns shrink to the minimum size for the content,
ignoring the style width settings. Any suggestion as to why this might
be the case?

Dynamic Table, Setting V-align Of A New Cell

Jul 20, 2005

I am working on something that only needs to work in IE, and I've got
this code:

var aRows=oTable.rows;
var oCell1_1=aRows(0).insertCell();
oCell1_1.innerHTML= 'new cell'

Which inserts a row in my table and I can populate the cell with the
text using the innerHTML property. No problem.

My question is, how do I set the VALIGN of this new cell?

I have tried this..

oCell1_1.valign='top'

and that does not generate a JavaScript error but it doesn't
vertically align the text in the cell either.

Other attempts generate javascript errors.

Setting Table Cell Style Attributes

Jun 19, 2007

given a cell from a table...
function Tbl_GetCell(tbl, row, col)
{
var theRow = tbl.getElementsByTagName("tr")[row];
return theRow.getElementsByTagName("td")[col];
}

I can set attributes like width, height, and align, but how can I set cell style info?

cell = GetCell(tbl,row,col)
these work fine... cell.align = "center"; cell.height = 22;
but this doesn't... cell.style = "font-weight: bold; text-decoration: blink"

Setting Table Cell Width In Javascript

Nov 14, 2007

I've created a table in HTML but I need to specify the cell width client side. I need to loop through the cells and set the size based on the rendered size of some other elements.

I'm using the following doctype <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

This is causing me problems in Firefox. The width attribute is being set correctly but the actual table cells aren't being resized. Has anybody seen this before and does anybody have a workaround?

JQuery :: Clone Table Row And Clear Inputs And Table Cells?

Dec 8, 2010

I have a table that I wrote/borrowed a function to clone a row in a table. I want the new row to be cleared of data.

$("#addrow").live("click", function() {
//clone last row to variable
var row = $('#dataTable tbody>tr:last').clone(true);
//clear text boxes

[Code]....

The code to clear the text boxes and selection boxes work great. The code to clear the text from the table cells that do not have a form element do not work at all. The .Client and .Project cells that I want to clear are populated by an ajax call and the .total cell is populated by a function that sums the values the text boxes.

Dynamically Add Another Table Once Text Fields In The Existing Table Is Clicked On?

May 26, 2010

how I would dynamically add another table once text fields in the existing table is clicked on. So pretty much what I have is a table with 5 textboxes lined up horizontally in the first row along with couple of buttons in the second row. What I want is that once one text box is clicked, another table like the one above is created and appears below that initial table. So this is the inital table that should be replicated on each click:

<table>
<tr>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" /></td>
<td><input type="text" ></td>

JQuery :: Stripe Table Rows After Table Is Reloaded

Feb 3, 2011

I have a site with 2 side by side tables with matching data. The left table is a drag-n-drop implementation so you can reorder the values in the database just by dragging and dropping. It works wonderfully. I want the right table to reflect the changes instantaneously. I got the right table to reload itself with the following jquery line:

$("#newMeet").load(location.href+" #newMeet>*","");

I stuck that line in the "Update" function of my "Sortable" funtion. And the line that I am using to initially stripe the right table is:

$(".checks2:even").addClass("grayBack");

Now matter where I stick that line, I cannot get the table re-striped after it reloads.

My problems are:

How do I change the orientation on the table output to go up and down instead of left to right?

Do I have to write another for or while loop to get the sum's for these numbers, or can I do it from within what I've already written?

Flexible Lock Table Head/Scroll Table CSS?

Jul 2, 2008

I've come up with a way (at least in IE7 and Firefox 2 and 3) to create a table that lets you scroll the body contents while the table header row remains fixed in place.

It's mostly a CSS solution, but it does use the IE CSS expression operator and uses some DOM properties to assign some IE heights and widths. The other CSS solutions I've seen to this problem all tend to be pretty inflexible and hard to implement in the real world for tables of varying sizes. They require that you to hard code your table widths and heights in multiple locations in the CSS and involve the use of more than just one class name assignment.

I wanted a solution that could handle tables of different sizes on the same page. Something that allowed you to assign just one class and allowed the you to specify the height in the actual table that you wanted to lock the headings for.

I tried to keep the HTML table mark-up as clean as possible. All you need do is to simply assign a single CSS class name to a DIV that surrounds the table then assign a height you want the table to be as an embedded style. That's it.
