I have a form, in which i used to display the select box, at the time of loading the page.. based on the selection of this, i want to populate another select box by sending the query to the server...(this is by using ajax).
But, i want to check the time to display the second select box, and first selections was made.. The diff b/w these process will reach say 30 sec, it will show the message?
how to implement it... or is there any other way to do this?
Is there any way that I can add a limit for the amount of time that a javascript loader bar stays on screen?
The specific loading screen I am using is [URL].. This loading box actually activates once the page is loaded apparently, but in my instance, it is loading then disappearing in the matter of a second, but I wouldnt mind leaving it up for a couple of seconds, say 3-5.
i am now playing with the time. how to make the time move in downwards, i mean a countdown like format, e.g the time will start countdown and end in 2 days? here's my initial noob code for creating time
We contract security services with Thawte and have become frustrated with their servers showing lag time. Our site basically runs a script to go to Thawte's site, executes code and returns a value to show protection. If their server is running very slow or down, the script line takes down our entire site because it can not complete execution. Here is the code:
<!-- THAWTE CODE - Comment Out when Thawte is having issues ********************* --> <tr> <td>
I would like to load the result of an http call into a text-area. The job is quite easy with the iPhone SDK but I suspect it is not so on the web.My page is:and I would like to populate the text-area on the left with the result of the following url[URL]
I have a menu which loads the links into my "<div id="result_wrapper"></div>, which works fine.[code]But this newly loaded page requires some jQuery controls for a button that is in the content. where do put the jquery controls for that new button? do i put it in the index.php? or can i add a new <script></script> in the new "page" that was loaded in the div? and do i use the $(document).ready(function(){..etc..});?
I am loading a phph mysql result set into a div via jquery load. In ff, chrome, everything but ie7 it works fine. in ie7 it only returns one result when it should return many. This is the js im using:
You need the link to be out side the div you are loading your content into. As the line "$('#wrapper_of_subpages').load(this.href + " #wrapper_of_subpages");" in your code don't copy the event with the link you need some other way to keep your link event.
I am working on a page which uses a JQuery AJAX to call another php page that displays a list of random items and reloads every 2 seconds. The below code works in Chrome and FF but only once in IE,
Should I always YUI or GZIP text files in my site or only when they exceed a certain size? Since the decompression takes some time as well I thought that if the files are small they should only be mified...is that correct?
I created an image gallery which displays 63 images in a slideshow. The problem is that the show was slow because each image loaded one at a time during the show. No problem right? I just did a preload script. But then the user has to sit for 5 minutes waiting for 63 images to download! My images are about 640x480 and average 100kb. Is this too much for one page to load? Should I load my slideshow into differerent windows? If so, don't I have the same problem with my loading time?
do the following: I have a thumbnail image that on rollover swaps to another image. At the same time i want to do a fade out/fade in animation between the images. Most of it is working but when the page loads for the first time there is no swaping of the image but just a fast opactity effect on the first image. Then if i try the rollover for the second time it does work as expected. Is it because the image that im loading doesn't load fast enough and the whole animation onRollover doesn't happen? I also have a problem when Rollover fast on the thumbnails. It just stays on the second image but doesn't go back to the first original image? For some reason the animation gets confused between the Rollover and Rollout states. Here is a link to see the example
[Code]...
I know this is not a good practice but do is why im looking for help in this forum.
I use DIV tags with onMouseOver action on the DIV-s. I want to download and show a photo if an onMouseOver activates. This is simple and works but there is a problem.First time I move my mouse cursor on the DIV the photo doesn't appear, only its border. When I move the mouse off and back again, the photo appears right. I want to show the photo first time well. There is a solution: preloading images with JavaScript invoked with the onLoad event of the BODY tag. But I would have numerous (100+) photos, so it's a bad idea to preload all the photos (and users usually want to see only a few, not all of them). It is acceptable to wait a second or two after activating onMouseOver while the photo is downloading but it's not acceptable to do TWO onMouseOver actions for a photo
I have a form with seven drop down boxes, and I would like to limit the number used at any one time to one. I've seen this done with check boxes, but I'm unsure about the syntax, etc., involved with dropdowns.
I want to create a UL that has a certain amount of LI elements, but instead of showing every LI element, I want to either display 5 of them or whatever the containing DIV will allow just before activating the "overflow or scroll".
So in other words, let's say I have a div with a height of about 300px. If the UL generates a few list items, in turn, creating a UL that supersedes this height value, a scroll bar will be generated (depending, of course, on how the CSS and whatnot is written). So, what I would like to do is generate a "Read More" link at the bottom of the UL and display only whatever number of list items it can take that will fit appropriately within the DIV element.
It was my understanding that things like this are usually done with JavaScript because I can't see how PHP would govern the height of an element unless you somehow replaced the height attribute of the CSS with some sort of PHP variable (which would mean I would have to change the CSS extension and do a bunch of stuff I think would be outside my scope at the given moment). What do you think? What's your perspective on this?
I have only started to learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript (roughly 2 weeks now). I am having a issues regarding when I submit form data to the server. I want to temporarily disable the 'submit' button while the browser is loading and then reactivate it once everything has finished loading. This was my attempt at doing this.
Im trying to add some simple display features to a web application and am running into some unexpected IE8 behavior. Basically, the app runs some database retrieval from the server using Ajax techniques, and during that time (say, 30 seconds), I want to just give the user a clue as to whats going on. It could be as simple as a wait cursor. More interesting, I prefer to unhide a div with an animated loading icon, then hide it again when loading is complete.
I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.
The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.
After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.
I have a lot of javascript functions that request information from an iframe hidden on the page. I see other sites do this, but their browser does not do the loading action (like the processing circle in Firefox). When I do it on my site, each browser shows the loading icon, as if a page was loading. Is it possible to not have this?

That is a sample link. Go down right side of page where you see three buttons: Trailers Featurettes Clips. Those return iframe information to work.
1. Make ajax request (via getHTTPObject(), no libraries is used)
2. Create an iframe with script, src is "blank.html".
3. use iframe.document.write() to execute scripts (inkluding document.write based scripts) in the iframe.
4. call parent window's document to clone the iframe content.
5. Append the content clone to parent body.
Works like a charm in all browsers but IE, where every version - including IE9 beta - hangs on iframeWindow.document.close() with empty cache, leaving the window/tab unresponsible. When I force quit, restart and load the page again (now in cache) it works. What I've tried already:
* Googled.
* called the ajax request callback manually with string instead of request.responseText - it works even with empty cache here.Removed document.close() - resulting in scripts in iframe not executing at all (again, only with empty cache, cached pages works fine).
* Tested to make the ajax request synchronous - no difference.

I do pretty much all the computer related tasks, which includes computer system repair, audio/video editing, cd/dvd printing and duplication, document format and creation, etc etc. But when it comes to HTML (or other codes) I know very little. But we needed a website, so I use Homestead hosting and the Homestead (offline) Site Builder program.
Anyway, inside the sight builder program, they have the option to insert HTML Snippets. Which I use for various objects, off site tools, and other. But now I need to do something for which I have not been able to find a "premade" html code object, that can perform the task desired. I have searched and searched google and went through many sites, including this one. I have tried to take some codes which I thought I could alter to make it perform, but they just wouldn't work for what I needed them to do.
I need a code that will automate a "specific text message" to change daily, and to schedule a "different specific text message" to appear each day. I need to be able to schedule each days "texts" at the very least 31 days in advance. In other words, I need to make an array (I think that's what it is called) for the entire month:
Day 1 "today's text 1" Day 2 "today's text 2" Day 3 "today's text 3"
[code]....
If were possible to make an "array" that would go six months out (or more) that would be very helpful! But the longest that I have seen is one month at a time, so that may be as long as they go, but I'm not sure.On top of all of this, I need these changes to be performed at a specific time of the day. I would like them to be preformed at sunset everyday, but I don't think there is anyway to direct the code to look at like [URL] sunset times or such. So if I can at least choose a specific hour, like 8:00 pm, that will work, I will just have to adjust this every once in a while.
However, I don't want it to change just at 8:00pm in my timezone. I need it to change at 8:00pm according to the website viewers timezone. Is there a way to make the code "look" at the users computer and "get their time" and use that to adjust what text is displayed? In other words, I live in Indiana USA. If someone in Australia looked up the webpage on the 15th day of the month, but it was 9:00pm Their Time. The text I need to be displayed should be for "Day 16" from the array.
I'd like some direction on creating a small piece of Javascript that will populate my <select> boxes.Basically, I have a form for users to create events, with a start time and an end time. (These are the two select boxes). For example:
1) Have times populated in 15 minute incrementals from 12:00AM to 11:45PM
2) Have some type of "error checking" available to where the End Time must be after the start time. It would be nice for the script to automatically change the end time field to a time that is after the start time.
