I want to make a search field for my site where the user can enter his query then select which site he would like to search the query on. Like www.torrents.to has, basically just like that. I know nothing about coding, could somebody write the code for me and tell me where to put my links, directory stuff etc...?
I want to use an image map for something unique. The image would have about 10 to 15 (religious) symbols. When the user clicks on a particular symbol it will search the site for a few strings relating to that symbol. For example: Symbol 1 would be a cross when clicked it search the site for "christ, crucifix, christianity". I am sure I can make the image map but how do I make the image map call a function instead of a link.
I have created a similar smart search like yellowpages:[URL]... Here is the problem I have with mine:
Lets say I search 'Attorneys' I start typing 'Att' ... then 'Attorneys' shows up in the smart search so I click on it and press enter. The next time I start typing 'Att' my browsers saved search field pops up over the websites smart search. Here is an image which might help explain the problem a bit more:
How would one search for more than one one simultaneously? I have this function:
var flix = ["Any items left unattended on this table" , "Hello, World"];
function Multiwords(s){ var a = flix[0].toLowerCase(); var b = s.toLowerCase(); var result = a.indexOf(b) if (result >= 0)
[Code]...
It's pretty basic, it just searches through the first index of var flix and tells me if the parameter (s) is 'found' or 'not found'. I made it not to be case sensitive. However, how would I search for multiple words for example:
Multiwords("ANY items This") and if any combination of 'ANY' or 'items' or 'This' is found, i still get my alert message of 'Found'?
I just wanted to know if I have a text document that contains html code,how would I search through the code and retrieve all the data related to the search. i.e. by creating a search engine. The problem I face is if the format of the tag names change in the html txt document then it won't work. Therfore using DOM to retrieve the text would fail. Is there anything other than DOM that I can use to parse through the text document, so even if the code changed the search engine would still work.The aim is to search through a html "text document" and retrieve the data that the user wants.
I have a website that I'm designing where I have the need to search multiple sites at specific times. By this I mean that In some cases, we would want to search only the internet using google, or only search the site that I've created (which currently uses the jse_search.js solution), or only our company's website.
I currently have four different search boxes that will search either the internet, the internal site, a separate internal site, or a third-party website, which all working fine. The problem is that the search boxes take up quite a bit of space, and the layout is becoming cumbersome. Is there a way in Javascript I could use a single search box and a drop-down list to select which method to use? The code I'm currently using is below. With the exception of the Google search function, I've modified some of the site names to general site names and paths to preserve the company's anonymity:
Code in the <head> tag: <script language="JavaScript1.3" type="text/javascript" src="jse_form.js"> </script> Code in the <body> tag: <!--Begin Internal Site Search 1!-->
I just launched a website and would like to know what people think about it. It's a search engine dedicated exclusively to finding scripts and searches among the most resourceful script directories on the internet. It would be great if you could try a search and tell me what you think about it, if there's anything to change/add, or if it simply is a tool no one will want of. You have the options to choose how many search results you want per page and also what script categories to search in.
I am looking for a way to search another site for a specific phrase.
People are linking to my site and then I have to ask them for the page where they linked and go validate that it's there. I'd like to automate this process.
I'm trying to add an internal site search to my website, and it only work for some search items, not for everything. For example, if I search for Bud Light, Budweiser, Bud Light Lime, it finds them. But if I search for Stella Artois, Paulaner, or Hoegaarden, it doesn't find anything. I'm thinking there's something wrong with the javascript code, I'm just not sure how to fix it.Here's the code in the head region:
[<script type="text/javascript"> // Google Internal Site Search script- By JavaScriptKit.com (http://www.javascriptkit.com) // For this and over 400+ free scripts, visit JavaScript Kit- http://www.javascriptkit.com/
Can anyone point me to a good tutorial for creating a site-level search applet? I am trying to create a virtual catalog of sorts, and I would like to be able to search the catalog and have the results displayed on the same page with one column text and an image of the product. I've seen several tutorials that create site-level searches that will bring back a search results page with options to choose from. I am looking to create a search that does not bring back this "results" page, but displays an image of the product instead. Given the nature of the products, search results will only bring back one specific item, and so, I would like to skip the "results" page altogether. Any thoughts?
I am using the following script: <script type="text/javascript"> // Google Internal Site Search script- By JavaScriptKit.com [URL] // For this and over 400+ free scripts, visit JavaScript Kit- [URL] // This notice must stay intact for use //Enter domain of site to search. var domainroot="[URL]"
function Gsitesearch(curobj){ curobj.q.value="site:"+domainroot+" "+curobj.qfront.value } </script> <form action="[URL]" method="get" onSubmit="Gsitesearch(this)">
I want to modify the onSubmit event to also include this code: window.open('', 'foo', 'width=450,height=300,status=yes,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes') But I am having difficulties. I would like for the search results page to be displayed in the new window.
I have multiple fields in a form with the same name. Lets call the fields with the same name "junk_array". My first field of junk_array is a input type=hidden. All the others fields in junk_array that follow are type=text. I can reference this first hidden field in IE with document.form.field[0].value. In, fact my form works absolutely wonderful in IE 6. However, netscape 4.7 does not recognize my first field in the array as the hidden field. Netscape sees the first visible text field as the first field in the array, subscript 0. What totally and utterly perplexes me, is that, from a previous thread, I can do this and get 9999 back in an alert box in Netscape and IE. So, this proves Netscape doesn't have some evil code that disregards hidden fields. I guess...
I even copied these fields directly below the opening <form> tag in my form and both Netscape and IE see the first hidden field as as subscript 0.
However, my form is much more complicated. I have tables within tables and about 30 other fields. In my form I cannot for the life of me get Netscape to recognize the first hidden field of junk_array to zed as index 0.
Somehow, If I make the first type=hidden fields visible, netscape does work nicely. Why when I toggle type=hidden to type=text does Netscape cooperate. What is happening here? Anyone else have this problem with hidden fields in Netscape? I could post the code to my form but it is big.
We run a record label, and are looking for a free piece of software/server install that will allow us to enter several [Artist] - [Title] entries, and for that software to then search the internet/specific sites for if that song has been played/tracklisted anywhere. Is there something already in place for this job?
only show rows that match certain criteria. In my example the table displays first name, last name, date won, and game name. I've tried several examples on the internet and the ui.tablefilter plugin, to no avail. They allseem to depend on a certain structure in the table. I am limited in howI structure the html because thehtml of the table is generated by an asp.net gridview control. Ihave gotten the below piece of code to work, but it takes at least 10 seconds to run and I only have 40 records.I assigned a class of gameName to the data fields in the column that contains the game name.
In a string (that contain the Flash version installed), I want to replace:
all "," by "." "win" by <nothing> all spaces by <nothing> So far I do it this way: strFlashVer = strFlashVer.replace(/,/g, '.'); strFlashVer = strFlashVer.replace('win', ''); strFlashVer = strFlashVer.replace(/ /g, '');
but I'm sure theres better way (I'm not really good with reg exp).
How would you create a text field that allows users to select different search engines, and then search their keyword. Essentially what I'm looking for is a something similar to the default multiple search field that you see in Firefox and Safari.At this point in time I have the multiple search feature implemented. But all I really have is a <select> next to a <input>. What I want is something that combines the two. Basically I want the look and feel of Firefox/Safari default multiple search field.
I'm wondering if the <input type="search" /> has the capability of adding search engines to the end of the drop down list. In Safari if you click on the magnifying glass on the search box, you'll see search engines at the very bottom. I'm wondering if I can do that to my webpage using <input type="search" />, but having my own search engines specified.
I'm using quick search plugin (URL...) in filtering rows in a group of tables.The problem is that the old vesion of Quick search may act on multiple tables as long they have the same table_id while the new vesion acts on the first table only.
1-the number of tables is very large (in some pages may be 500 tables).
2-the action of Quick search is applied automaticaly as the user type any text in the input text box. so i don't know any way to make a loop to call the function once for each table.
There are multiple intranet pages with a list of names on them that are updated regularly.At the moment, there is no easy way to check if a name is on the pages without going in to each one at a time and searching them individually.
Is there a javascript script I could use to search all of the pages at the same time, and if a match is found, open the relevant page and highlight the result?
On our website we wanna bind a click (or maybe mouseover)-event on every user-image. The click on the image should open a layer with further information about the user. Now i look for a best practice way to solve this (focus on performance), because there could be a lot of user-images on one side. I think, if i bind the event on a class like this
that could slow down the site, because i read, that "The class selector is the slowest selector in jQuery". Back to the roots and insert an onclick(function) to the element, but i'm not realy happy with that solution.
I have 4 arrays that all contain data linked by the index. I have 3 drop down boxes on a web page that give the user 3 ways to search for data. The top one is mandatory the other two are optional. I've managed to create the code to search using the mandatory box but cant figure out how to expand the search.
Here is the function that deals with the search data: function findFlights(){ var yourAirline = readTheAirline(); var result = 'Here are your flights <BR>'; var choose = 'Choose your destination';
for (var index = 0; index < flightTimes.length; index++){ var flight = flightDestinations[index]; var airline = flightOperators[index]; if (yourDestination == flight){ var b = flightTimes[index]; var c = flightDestinations[index]; var d = flightOperators[index]; var e = flightFares[index]; var message = b + ' to ' + c + ' operated by ' + d + '. £' + e + '.';
result = result + message + '<BR>'; }if (yourDestination == choose){ result = 'Please choose a destination city from the destination menu and then click Find flights again.'; }}displayMessage(result);}
I need to create multiple JavaScript clocks on my site based on the client location (I.e. Los Angeles, Houston, Orlando, etc). Nothing complicated... just text clocks to show the current time. With due credit to this site , I used their code as a starting point.
If this search function is included in an include file with other functions it will run more than once if you click another function first, then come back to it to do another search.
For example if I click the next page function, then decide to click for a new search it runs more than once: Next page function:
Code: $(document).ready(function() { $('a#nextpage').click(function() { var page = $(this).attr('page'); var searchval = $(this).attr('schval'); var maxpage = $(this).attr('maxpage'); $.post("findowner.php", { p1 : searchval, page : page }, function(data){ if (data.length>0){ $("#ownerIDdiv2").html(data); } }); }); }); //end
However, if I put the first search function in a separate include file all works perfect. Why it runs multiple times if it is grouped among other functions?
The thing is that first I need to detect if the div id is "sidebar" if its "sidebar" then it will pickup all the text inside h2 tag and will search for a1 or a2 in the text.If a1 is found then it will pickup the id html2 and make this div only visible.So in this case it will pickup id html2 and make it visible while other ids like html1 and html3 will be hidden.
