i am able to load the xml file in all the browsers except IE7,IE8. i am getting an error as "ACCESS DENIED". and the error i am getting the error at line, xhttp.open("GET", dname, false);
I've got a problem on a site using AJAX navigation where when you first request a page, parts of the script haven't been executed, but if you visit again, it's fine. Is there a common pitfall causing this problem?
I have a rather lengthy javascript application that I want to run in it's own window. It looks like it is no problem to do using the window.open and document.write commands, however this seems like a lot of extra code to wrap every line of my javascript with mywindow.document.write(""); Is there anyway around this or perhaps a different approach to running javascript in it's own window?

I cannot find something in the html dom at first sight. Is there collection of timers available (like window.all[], forms[], frames[] and such)? Some other way?
When you create a timer (setTimeout), the return value is the timer id. Suppose that some script (which you do not own and cannot change) calls setTimeout but doesn't store the id. How to retreive it, to stop the timer (clearTimeout(id))?
I though to override the "setTimeout" like below, but that doesn't work. Probably since the original setTimeout is used before I declare this new one.

I was debugging my code looking for a loop. So in the process I added a confirm request and if the user clicked cancel I coded location.replace("Kill.html"). Problem was that the JAVASCRIPT continued to run until either it finished or I used the Task Manager to end the session. :( There3 was a small difference in browsers: Firefox put up the new screen while continuing to run the JAVASCRIPT while IE didn't put up the new screen until after the JAVASCRIPT was finished. I could tell the JAVASCRIPT was still running because the confirm messages kept popping up.
I have put some javascript into my html page (using IE6 as browser), however I get the message: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options...." Once I have selected that and specified to allow for blocked content ... the javascript runs ok. However I do not have the same problem with loading other webpages (also containing javascript) from the internet!! Does anyone have any ideas?
Another problem I have is that I have opened a popup window, which has a stylesheet linked to it. However it does not seem to know about the stylesheet as my text fonts/ styles are not displayed.
What happens with Javascript is that, any commands executed in myFirstFunction and mySecondFunction are not applied, displayed, or apparent until myThirdFunction has finished executing. How can I get code to execute asynchronously without relying on subsequent code executing?

So that it runs when the window loads. Meaning if a checkbox is already selected, the background will already be changed for it.
I'm don't do Javascript that often and I have a function that is not working fully. The problem is that the first function Form1_Validator runs correctly, but checkTheBox() does not run at all. Its a form validation script. The first function checks that text fields are filled and the second checks to make sure that at least one checkbox is checked.
I have a page with a number of iframes and a couple thousand lines of javascript (which I won't ask you to troubleshoot -- everything works fine).
The situation is that the cursor is flickering as though there's a javascript function continuously looping--which may be affecting performance.
The question: Is it possible (and how) to determine which function is running? Where might I be able to find a log of the functions which have already ran?
I suspect firebug or IE developer tools should have something like this but I cannot find any supporting documentation.

I want to encode and decode a javascript file in which many javascript function running. i fount lot of function decode and encode but not worrkking well .
I would like to have an onClick function that when the object (image that submits a form) is clicked on, it runs a PHP script as well as submitting the form. I can get it to work by opening a new window, but I don't want this to happen as it looks fairly spammy even when you use javascript to immediately close that window after the PHP script has done its bit.
If you look on the right panel, at the heading "What our clients / journalists say", you will notice that it fades into another set of text. However when the page first loads because it takes a few seconds loading in the twitter feed, you will see a big lump of text running down the page.
Only when the Twitter feed has loaded does the lump of text disappear. Can i overcome this somehow?

I'm having two issues: First, is there an easier way for my showValue function to display the image file name without running a bunch of if statements? I tried doing something like document.getElementById('imgFile').value = imgArray[n]; but that did not seem to work.

I have the following code to load some pages into a div using the load function. When I click one of the links though, nothing happens. I have read a couple of books on JQuery and looking at the examples they give, this looks correct so I am at a loss.
I have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.
If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.
I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.
How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?
I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.
If there is a better solution let's say to kill everything before the new slideshow appears it's even better. Although I've tried die(), empty(), detach(), remove(). I hoped remove() would help cause as I read it's suppsed to remove everything but for some reasons it doesn't...
I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.
I'm working on some code and am running into brick walls. I'm trying to write out Javascript with Javascript and I've read the clj Meta FAQ and didn't see the answer, read many similar posts (with no luck though), and searched through the IRT.ORG Faqs (www.irt.org/script/script.htm).
The Javascript is designed to open an popup window and then inside that window call another script which will resize that window. There may be another way around this but the reason I tried this approach initially was that I wanted to call the onload handler in the popup window to resize the image only after the image had completely loaded. I've had some code in the primary Javascript file (showimage.js) before that works if the image has been cached but on the first load, it doesn't resize properly which tells me it is probably because it is trying to resize the window based on the image size but it isn't completely known at that point. So I removed that code and tried placing the resizing code in the second Javascript file (resizewindow.js). BTW I've tried other code to open a popup image and automatically size it ie Q1443 at irt.org but that doesn't do exactly what we need.
Even if there is another way to do this with one file, I still want to figure out why this isn't working in case I run into it in the future.
I thought what I would need to do to use document.writeln to write Javascript would be to escape any special characters and to break apart the script tag ie

Can anyone provide some pointers as to why this javascript is failing? I'm using IE6 on Win2k and when I click on the image to open the popup window, it does open the window but it is white with no content and the system immediately goes from about 4% CPU usage to 100% and consistently stays there until I kill that window with the task manager.
I'm getting errors in Firefox everytime I try to run this frame resize code, but it works fine in IE. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is with it.
The error is: Error: theFrame has no properties Line: 8
The line that the javascript console is showing an error for is in italics.
