I am using jquery validation plugin successfully to validate certain fields against my server. The thing is sometimes user types too fast, and the validation plugin sends the word if not equal to the previously sent word. This causes some problems with my mod-evasive that I run in apache. Is there anyway to slow down these requests, or say post to server each 300ms. The jquery UI autosuggest has this feature, where you can set a delay time.

Got the music to play fine and everything the only thing I have left to do is get my page to display the timer for the running time for each song. The one problem I am running into is this....my phone and I'm sure many other phones/mobile devices support javascript, but not javascript functions. For example I can run a <body onload="setTimeout('blah',1000)"> function on my phone and anything in the body onload statement, if it's in javascript will run. However, refer to a function and the code won't work. Here is the code that will wok in a standard web browser with javascript support:PHP Code:
echo"<script type="text/javascript">
[HIGHLIGHT="JavaScript"]var minutes= $thissongsmins; //Amount of minutes settimeoutruns

I have a page which takes information from a user. When the user clicks the "send" button, it stores data in a cookie then does a javascript redirect to the next page which grabs the info. I don't want the data to be present in the URL on the next page and the site is supposed to be put together without the use of PHP (the 2nd page is a confirm page that sends the data to Web Services).
This has been working great for everyone who has tried it, but there are a handful of complaints that users will not get the information they expected on the 2nd page. My question is, as I'm trying to debug this stuff, is it reasonable to think that the cookie may not be properly stored in time for the redirect to take place for some users?
how to run a function when an object has been added dynamically to the DOM. I have the bellow example code:
$
(
'div.s'
)
[Code]....
You can also find it here: [URL] I have realised that live doesn't work with load. How can I have a function executed when the div is added to the DOM ? custom event maybe?
I want to try and keep my syntax all encapsulted, but I'm not sure how to go about this.
So I add in some html to a div
$('#slideStage').append("<div id='popupTiming' style='display:none'>" + formatTime(currentCuePoint.time) + ' minutes</div>')
So the resulting html would be
[Code]...
but i have these basic functions to show a div and all i would like to do after these run is to actually make the screen scroll to the bottom here is my code i know is wrong can you please point me in the right direction.
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
// $("#go2").click(function(){
[code]....
Why not a plugin like (small correction void should be a string)
$.fn.delay = function(delay){
if(typeof delay==="undefined") delay = 1000;
return this.animate({"void":0}, delay);
}
This way you can call it like this
$('#element').delay().effect('pulsate');
I am trying to run this javascript function:
<script language="javascript">
function selectElement(idElement){
var colorSelected='#FFFFCC';
var colorNoSelected='#FFFFFF';
divElement= document.getElementById('sel'+idElement);
inputElement= document.getElementById('lselect'+idElement);
[Code]....
So that it runs when the window loads. Meaning if a checkbox is already selected, the background will already be changed for it.
I'm don't do Javascript that often and I have a function that is not working fully. The problem is that the first function Form1_Validator runs correctly, but checkTheBox() does not run at all. Its a form validation script. The first function checks that text fields are filled and the second checks to make sure that at least one checkbox is checked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a page with a number of iframes and a couple thousand lines of javascript (which I won't ask you to troubleshoot -- everything works fine).
The situation is that the cursor is flickering as though there's a javascript function continuously looping--which may be affecting performance.
The question: Is it possible (and how) to determine which function is running? Where might I be able to find a log of the functions which have already ran?
I suspect firebug or IE developer tools should have something like this but I cannot find any supporting documentation.
i am using jquery for ajax request response.Is there any javascript functions which can cause some time delay like
ajaxStart(function() {
showAnimation();
delay(5000s):
});
I want to put a time delay on a function. This is how I'm going implementing it, however it's not working......
function loadXMLDoc()

I have a input field like this
<input name="To" type="text" class="input" value="<%=toList%>" size="106"
this calls validateUser() as soon as I update the input field and lose focus
from it.
What I want is that this validateUser() should also be called on the intial
<%=toList%> that I am filling. I tried adding
but that didn't work.
What should I use ?
Is it possible to set onmouseover only in js file without running the function on html code?
P.S. I found a coding thread here [URL] but I don't understand it and it's too old (2005 archive).
I need to link a javascript function to an html button, so that the function executes when and only when the button is clicked. right now I am using the following code:
...
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="RunTool.js"></script>

I have a Google Map running and get the country displayed to set a radio button for that country. The code retrieves the countryCode (variable is below) from Google, but I can't get the radio button to set. I am either not selecting properly or not setting properly. I've tried several things. Here's the relevant code.[code]
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have this function delayLoad()
function delayLoad()
{
setTimeout('window.open('test.swf','FacNews', 'width=303,height=757,left=1005,top=0')',3000);
}
test.swf is a flash file within the same folder. I am invoking this function using
<body onload="delayLoad()">
What am I doing wrong for this not to delay the load by three seconds? I am having a system login that spawns a child window so I need to delay the window load of the swf so that it is on top. Its been years since I've done javascript, is there some other kind of methodology that I could possibly use?
I want to encode and decode a javascript file in which many javascript function running.
i fount lot of function decode and encode but not worrkking well .
I would like to have an onClick function that when the object (image that submits a form) is clicked on, it runs a PHP script as well as submitting the form. I can get it to work by opening a new window, but I don't want this to happen as it looks fairly spammy even when you use javascript to immediately close that window after the PHP script has done its bit.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to display the whole contents of a text file containing 4 paragraphs of text, on a static web page, as soon as a video finishes playing on the page. The video is to be set to autorun as soon as the page loads in the browser.
The text file mentioned above, is to remain hidden when the page initially loads and the video is playing. Please I need your advice about what JavaScript code to use to achieve this effect, and where to place the code in the HTML code of the web page. I am new to website design and the use of JavaScript code.
I have seen examples of code used for the timed delay of the display of an image file, after a video has finished playing. I do not know how to apply this to the display of a text file.
Is there another JS function that I can use to force a time delay without having the code continue to run? I'm using the setTimeout() function but the call to this function doesn't stop the code flow. I need to stop the code flow while waiting. I guess I need a Sleep() type of JS function.What I'm trying to do is display some blank text on the screen using a for loop (I'm using  <BR> to give the appearance of "opening up" a vertical window section in the browser) and I need this 'text' to complete before allowing the following code in the function to execute. The following code will display a Table with rows of data. I'm trying to use a timing function to give a visual impression of a window opening up just before the data displays.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.
If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.
I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.
How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?
I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.
fadeSlideShow(); plugin pause function part:
stopAutoplay = function(){
clearInterval(intval);
intval = false;
[Code]....
If there is a better solution let's say to kill everything before the new slideshow appears it's even better. Although I've tried die(), empty(), detach(), remove(). I hoped remove() would help cause as I read it's suppsed to remove everything but for some reasons it doesn't...
I'm having two issues: First, is there an easier way for my showValue function to display the image file name without running a bunch of if statements? I tried doing something like document.getElementById('imgFile').value = imgArray[n]; but that did not seem to work.
Second, I'm trying to have the image file name change in my textbox when I click any button. I've accomplished this with onblur, but that only works if I click on the textbox. I'd like it to just change automatically.

This is probably noobalicious so apologies, i have a checkbox i am checking on and off and then setting a readonly input with a value depending upon if it is checked on/off
This works fine for one click on or off but then how do i get back out of the function once this cycle has been done once? Set something to null?
//<input type="text" id="s_field" value=""/>
var valid = true;
var div = $("#s_field");
$.post("index.php",{id: 6}, function (data){
[Code]..
When posting data, and getting response need to set valid to false - email is not valid.
1. in function it alerts valid is false
2. outside function it says valid is still true!
even i didn't wrote var valid = false;, but valid = false;I need to set Global "valid" variable to false.
